Meanwhile, [NG] will make his first appearance at 1:30 p.m. before Metro Court Judge Yvette Gonzales, and he will be transported to court from the juvenile detention center, according to the DA’s Office.
The case falls under the state’s Serious Youthful Offender statute, and it will be handled by the 2nd Judicial Attorney’s Office violent crimes division as an adult case, DA spokeswoman Kayla Anderson said.
The case may be presented to the grand jury within 10 days, as is normally done when a suspected adult offender remains in custody, Anderson said in an email.
