These are the same images from my post at #518 from

I rotated so they are the same angle and brightened the darker one to compare.

I do not have photoshop, so someone with it might have a better attempt.

Thoughts?

I appear unable to edit my older posts, but almost all images are from the VG article about the case. Which you can find here: Mystery at the Oslo Plaza

Apologies for not including sources.

So this is a composite image that has been layered and labelled by me, both images are from Verdens Gang newspaper (VG), found at this URL: Mystery at the Oslo Plaza

This shows the difference between the two guns presented to the world by the Norwegian authorities.

The error level analysis (ELA)/luminance gradient was created by me using those untouched images sourced from VG, which appears to show some level of airbrushing/photo-shopping of one of the images. If you Google "Error Level Analysis" you can get a simple explainer of the concept, which is that if different areas of the same image have vastly different compression/noise rates, it's likely that alterations have been made.

While not the most technical source, an easy one. Via Wikipedia, the weapon should be 19.7 cm. Just noting.

Also noting for the record, at various times in this thread's history, I have suggested "Jennifer" may have been either somewhat local (i.e. Camilla Steinaa), or someone living in Norway. I do not see how this impacts the current trajectory of the thread, but I'm certainly not opposed to the idea. I think she could be anyone, from anywhere. As we saw recently with "Beth Doe", isotopes, etc are not always correct.

Camilla Steinaa
Slightly OT, but it's kinda depressing seeing how little research many journalists do when they include that one image of Camilla, thinking it's a photograph of JF

I was just reminded of that when I saw the thumbnail on that YouTube video upthread.
oof, I think I created a monster here

@Beekarina
You asked about svetlana's face enhanced. I found an app that does this, however I am not certain how accurate it is. Thought I'd show you anyways (sorry, slightly OT, but discussed in regards to an earlier post)

I have to agree with Marantz(sorry I didn't catch the full name). I highly doubt that they were using a digital camera and those pictures certainly don't look like digital to me. I also think the theories are getting a bit out there for me. I am going to focus a bit on the gun pictures because I am not following the thought of how it's different so I will look myself at that. I am more interested in who she is though rather than how she died at the moment. Who answers the how I think. So my question for the moment is this - A few people have suggested that maybe she was known to the hotel and that is how she was able to check in as she did. If that were the case though, wouldn't we have an ID on her by now? Or at least they should know more than what she put on the card. I am just wondering if she was known somehow, why we don't know more of that information.

Here is a third possibility: In the 90s, it was possible to have film returned to you with a disc. So, the images may have been shot on film, and then edited.

(I'm not saying they sent the film out, only I just remembered having done this myself with some photos from this time. I have them uploaded to the internet, but they were absolutely shot with film. Those cute little disposable cameras..haha.)

I think there is a resemblance. Her nostril shape looks quite alike to me, as do her lips. I wonder if we tag @CarlK90245 if he would have time to take a look. He is the expert at comparing and "overlaying" images to see if they could be the same face.

Maybe 11.50 or something, the arm hasn't quite reached the "12" That just means this was most likely the time they took the photo though.

I meant to ask this: would it be standard procedure to take these photos 4 hours after she died?

Edited: I thought I heard something in one of the documetaries about the room being released to the hotel at a certain time. I am going to try to find what time that was.

Considering Photoshop was on v3.0 by 1995, this is quite possible.

I wonder.....Is there anything that could be done with photo enhancing to bring out the serial numbers on the gun?

images from Mystery at the Oslo Plaza

Surely if there is, they would have tried this?

Can anyone explain why the numbers seem to be repeating? It looks like 245NZ0(or O)6 but it's doubled.

Experts at the laboratory of Kripos, Norway’s National Criminal Investigation Service, managed to recover parts of the serial number. "The removal was done very professionally," the report says.

The Kripos technicians found two rows of numbers and letter combinations, imprinted over each other. On each row, they managed to recover six digits or letters but remained still three characters short of a complete serial number.

Noting there is a similar weapon to the Browning. I learned of it simple searching, not sure if this is a wild thought, but just noting.

The Israeli Kareen. It is about 4.5 inches long, so say 11.4 ish cm?

You can view one here: Kareen Hi Power Clone 9mm Luger (No Mag)

Edited: I misunderstood the length vs the overall length. This may not be of interest. I will leave the post just in case though.

There is a Baby Browning (aw, cute). Which looks like the big Browning with the forward section cut off, but it has the safety clip in a different place, so you can pretty easily see it's not one of those she's holding.

Not a weapons expert at all but a double imprint happens when the metal piece is slightly moved during the stamping. Can be due to the piece not being held firmly enough by the imprinting machine or exercising too much force.
I am not sure whether a faulty imprint in the serial number would disqualify the gun for any legal use. My guess would be yes.
Which means the gun had been acquired illegally on some sort of black market.

I read it as 245 W(or N) Z 05.

Well there is an image of the...bed, I can dm you it if you like. It is....a lot of blood, and not as weird as the other pictures but you will see the pillow with the gunshot through it tucked away at the top of the bed. And a lot of blood.

Appears I can not DM you.
Could you send this photo to me?
