Naomi's mother was on Court TV recently. She was asked about the family's rapport with police in light of the accusations Naomi's brother directed at them. The mother said that it would have been too late for Naomi even if the response was better (or something to that effect).

"Whatever happened in the beginning is irrelevant now, because it was too late anyway."

Thank you! That is what I had assumed, but the uncertainty that police gave about time of death did leave me wondering.

Appearing for court via zoom is not a novelty. Tristyn Bailey's killer is a 14yo Floridian, AF. TB was 13yo at the time of her murder whereby she suffered 114 slice or stab wounds with 49 of those on her arms and right hand perhaps as a defensive attempt to ward away his knife.

All of AF's hearings have been via zoom meetings for all attorneys, the defendant (the accused) and the Judge.

In this case, the remote appearance is a way to ensure the safety of Driver, a court official said, though the teleconference protocol for hearings in Fernley became the norm amid the pandemic.

Thanks, that makes more sense. Although I don't agree. He certainly wasn't concerned about safety when committing his crimes imo

Among other possible reasons, he is being held in Yerington, while the court is in Fernley, Canal Township Justice Court, which is some 48 miles away. Seems to be a better use of resources and makes more sense to appear via Zoom, considering the hearing apparently took literally less than 10 minutes. JMO

And since most of the time was taken up with reading the charges, there wasn’t really any reason for him to be there in person, unless he really wanted the outing.

His lawyer, understandably enough, doesn’t seem to have contested the ‘no bail.’

Thanks. Depending on the timeframe involved, it seems likely that the Nevada counties of Humboldt and Eureka were being referred to.

(California's Humboldt County contains a town called Eureka but California doesn't have a Eureka County.)
