In the Elizabeth Olten case, it was quickly determined by pings that the cell phone she had was deep in the woods behind her house.

Naegle's family has those cell phone records, but they reformatted and looked like gibberish when printed.

Whoever did the cell phone pinging should have been able to say where the phone was. It can usually be pinpointed within 50 feet. The family needs to go back to the original source of the ping to get the location.

My thoughts on the phone... Steven had it in Vegas, then was done with it. If it had been stolen, the person who took it could have picked up a new charger for it at a very low cost. Steven could have done the same, but if he was intending to disappear for awhile, he may very well have tossed it in the trash.

The cell phone location could be a very important clue. Like, maybe it pinged at McCarran.

Please ask Naegle why the family was not given the location of the cell phone ping.

.

If someone stole it or SK wanted to disappear, wouldn't they just get a new sims card along with the charger? Aren't the sims card and battery what generates the pings?
Sorry not a techie here.

Based on what WE know:
I think there's a good chance he slept in his own bed.
Just because the neighbor saw him leave, doesn't mean he didn't come back

Or...he could have pulled in to the parking lot at a casino, and used the men's room for clean-up.

Just a thought, but do we know he had been sleeping at his own place that week?

Naegle's going to be feeding me as many answers as she can, over the next few days.

She won't have much time tonight, and she'll be accompanying the family to Vegas this weekend. They'll be checking out IHOP and some other things.

She'll be checking in here OR via email, if they have wifi at the hotel.

So far, she says the answer is "I don't know" to a lot of things.

They don't know what LE is doing with the passport (so I advised her that they should check with LE before doing anything with the State Department).

The gist is that they're trying to figure out what LE may know, and that's not being shared with them. It's understandable on both sides.

ANYWAY - as she feeds me a bit more, I'll start updating the Q&A.

Laytonian-

You are a true blessing to this investigation. Seriously, I would have a hard time doing something that could possibly have no payoff. You are a GOOD person...wish there were more like you.

Is JZ LDS? Doesn't sound like it to me!

I don't know--but I do know a FLDS family that have the same last name--from Colorado City, Arizona (about 45 minutes from St. George--and a few from the family live in the St. George area--and run a construction business.)

Fairy, How is the bus transportation there? Do we know if there was a bus stop on Anthem close to his proximity?

Sorry, but I just feel if he was going to walk into the desert somewhere, this would not be the place to park. The airport is only around the bend so to speak on Anthem. If he did not go there to meet up with anyone in particular, then he could have taken a bus to the airport. Just a thought. I agree with poster who stated he went to meet someone and they left in their auto. The question is was it to get away or four play? Everything he did had a reason in his thinking--we're just trying to figure it out.

This may be going off an old tangent...but I wonder what the music was like when his dad started the car? I am LDS and I also suffer from mild depression. When I want to go for a drive, I sometimes pop a church CD in to calm me down and bring me back or...I pop in a Linkin Park CD and jam it. It may say something about the mood he was in while driving around that morning?

Fairy,

Good luck at the RV place tomorrow. Hope the rain lets up.

PS If I ever go missing, you have my permission to run in your heels and skirt to find me.

My take is Steven met someone deliberately at that neighborhood. It is clear to me, although I can see the other side of it. I am wondering if there would be value is setting up threads that support each viewpoint and where we can sleuth and speculate in concert with one another, rather than continuing to resist each POV?? Just a thought. For example, those of us who believe he deliberately left his car there because he had a purpose in the neighborhood might have more interest in sleuthing out deeds, ownership, businesses and the white SUV.

This may annoy those of you who think the choice of neighborhood was random.

Thoughts?

I like this idea.
This would let us focus our energy.

I've been thinking about the possibility of him flying out, and why he didn't park at the airport:

One one hand, it's safe and you don't have to pay upfront to park there. You can leave your car there for months, and no one will suspect it. If you plan on leaving permanently, you don't care about the car or any future parking bill.

On the other, you might think it's the first place that would be checked, so you'd abandon the car elsewhere.

BUT..unless he had good, alternate papers - how would he have flown out undetected? The airlines keep records for years, and I'm sure they've been checked.

I do, too too! :-)

I'm still waiting for your post about the neighborhood people with possible connections to the case who are also connected to Sacto, SLC and LV. Still working that angle?

I think it wouldn't hurt to find out the *feel* for the relationship between the two. I don't think there would be much of a need for window washers in the winter, but I don't know the business. Could be very possible he experienced similar employee actions before; people just not showing up for work at all or for a few days without notification. How many hours a week did Steven work. Was there a regular schedule or per diam?

At first, the stories mentioned both window washing and hanging Christmas lights.
St George is Utah's "Dixie" (the warmest part of the state) where the weather's similar to Vegas. Mild in the winter, hot in the summer. It's also a huge retirement area....and lots of expensive homes (the newer subdivisions are generally more expensive than Anthem Sun City). I'd think it was a good market for those services.
Especially hanging Christmas lights for older people.

But, he wasn't a direct employee. He was an independent contractor, and legally ICs do not punch a clock and are paid much differently (ie, no withholdings, expected to have their own TIN and be their own business). It sounds like he had to drum up his own work (by passing out flyers), and then give part of the money to his employer.
There's just no advantage to Steven in that situation. He had the skills to make his own flyers.

Hi I am totally new to this site, and I am addicted to it now. I love to investigate things. I saw the Facebook page about Steven. And I used to live up in Seven Hills, and Anthem is on the edge of town. A bus system does run up there. Does anyone recall when they said he was spotted near Craig Road in NLV?
