NV - Tesla Cybertruck explosion at Trump hotel in Vegas investigated as a possible terrorist act, 1 Jan 2025

The FBI said Thursday in a post on X that it was “conducting law enforcement activity” at a home in Colorado Springs related to Wednesday's explosion but provided no other details.

I just had a power surge so totally lost the interview and missed the last few minutes.

For me it isn't just that they rented from Turo, it's all the things they have in common. Others have used trucks to harm people, but I don't recall hearing about one being rented from Turo.. seems its' usually their own vehicle they use. So for both of these just hours apart to be vehicles they rented and not just rented, but rented from Turo makes me side eye it.. then both in the Army for a fairly significant amount of time and then these events happening just hours apart in very large US cities.
I think if he wanted to carry out a mass killing he would have used the Tesla to run down pedestrians same as Jabbar, imagine what a Cybertruck could do to pedestrians with its weight and sharp edges doesn’t bear thinking about. Instead the explosion took place at a time when most residents of the hotel would be asleep. I don’t think at all it was a terrorist attack. Plus being special forces he would be an expert in explosives and know what is involved yet he used some fireworks and a gas canister

I think this is nothing more than a high profile suicide

found a Defense Department Common Access Card in the Cybertruck which exploded at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. The name on the card is Matthew Alan Livelsberger. He shows him at the pay grade of E8 or Master Sergeant. His journey to NV started on Dec. 28.

I'm not saying these 2 acts are directly connected, but both soldiers serving at the same location, at the same time, isn't a necessity as to whether or not they knew of each other or shared similar thoughts and ideas.

Proud Military AF Brat here, so please do not take this as a negative about our military. I'm thinking more along the lines of how disgruntled soldiers or those suffering from PTSD type symptoms could congregate in anonymity on the Web.

Sure, I understand. The only thing that link really said was they weren't there physically in the same time frame. Which doesn't remotely relate to social media.

Press conference going on right now.

Body burned beyond recognition. No confirmation that the person is 100% Matthew, but his military ID and passport was in the car. A gun was found and I think they said he had a gunshot to his head.
Then it was just a statement. Sure would like to know why he chose that vehicle and that hotel.

A couple law enforcement experts on CNN right now:

They talk about how crude this device was, and how if he intended to kill people he had much better options. The fact that he arrived at the hotel, and then returned an hour later, may be a sign that he wasn't sure what he was going to do. This whole thing looks disorganized, and he doesn't appear to have been thinking logically.

This final statement still has me wondering what it might mean. Are they saying it was not Matthew L? Can anyone answer?

Authorities know who rented the truck with the Turo app in Colorado, Kevin McMahill, the elected sheriff of Clark County, which includes Las Vegas, said Wednesday. He did not release the person’s ID, however.

Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill said at a news conference that a handgun was found at the feet of the man who’s been identified as Matthew Livelsberger. Officials believe the shot was self-inflicted.

Livelsberger served in the Green Berets, highly trained special forces who work to counter terrorism abroad and train partners, the Army said in a statement. He had served in the Army since 2006, rising through the ranks with a long career of overseas assignments, deploying twice to Afghanistan and serving in Ukraine, Tajikistan, Georgia and Congo, the Army said.

He was awarded two Bronze Stars, including one with a valor device for courage under fire, a combat infantry badge and an Army Commendation Medal with valor. Livelsberger was on approved leave when he died, according to the statement.

Curious about this route. Why did he take it vs a more direct route like the one below. Was he struggling with his plan and decision?

I am trying to visualize this:
As a self-inflicted GSW:
Drives up
Pulls trigger
Gun falls to floor (not lap)
Fireworks go off…

Hmmmmm

MOO This is why I think he meant to make a spectacle, vs actually harming anyone else. He could have blocked the entrance by driving into it, he could have obtained better explosives. Even the communications experts in special forces get some demolition training. He rented a flashy car and tried to set it on fire to kill himself and do a lot of property damage.

Law enforcement sources said Livelsberger was stationed in Germany but on leave in Colorado when the blast occurred. Two of Livelsberger's relatives told CBS News they were unaware of his involvement in the incident but confirmed he had rented a Cybertruck. One relative said his wife had not heard from him in several days.

He could have drove right into the front of the building. Instead he pulled up valet style and ultimately has a GSW in his head.
