It's interesting to me that many of us on this thread do not live in the US. I think it's easier for us to see the danger that the US is facing with T running for president.
And more than a few New Yorkers who knew from the start he was unfit for office!

Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen said he may not testify against his former boss because he's scared of the blowback from the former president's loyalists.

Cohen made the comments on MSNBC on Wednesday. He said Donald Trump’s rhetoric needs to be checked before he gets witnesses in his criminal cases hurt or killed.

The defendants will be called as witnesses for the prosecution?!?

Keep in mind witness lists don't tell us who they will call, just who they might call.

The NY Attorney General's $250 million civil fraud trial against Donald Trump will not be delayed, an appeals court ruled Thursday, denying Trump's lawyers' last-minute attempt to sideline the trial on six counts related to business fraud, which will start on Monday, Oct. 2nd.

They can't plead the Fifth in a Civil Trial can they???

If not, I don't see how the Senior Don (at least) will make it through questionning under oath (finally!!) without perjuring himself. He and the truth are sworn enemies --- this could get interesting watching his teflon burn off!!!

I'll be sure to have a tonne of buttered popcorn at the standby.

Wow, thank God for documents!

How will Trump say this document is incorrect? Or, excuse me, I mean how will he say that it’s the biggest lie in all of history?

Will he say that his ignorant tax assessor put the X in the wrong place, because the assessor doesn’t know the alphabet?

Will he say the paper on which it is written is defective and switches things around, like he said Dominion did with votes?

I imagine he will say it’s a complete forgery, done by people who hate America.

He won't say anything publicly, like on his social media, but he's probably sure his follower don't know about this doc.

I think in court he'll say he's busy running a company worth billions, and his staff, who he's never met other than to ask them to bring him Coke and ketchup, hands him papers to sign. He signs autographs all the time because people love him. He signs checks for millions of dollars. People come to him in tears asking him, "'Sir, please will you sign this?" It's amazing, like nobody has seen before, how people love when he sign things. And Mar-a-Lago is beautiful, everyone knows that. Oh, and only suckers pay taxes. And Biden is attacking him because people like Trump's signature better than Biden's.

"Despite the Fifth Amendment’s focus on testimony in criminal cases, the U.S. Supreme Court has held that the right against self-incrimination extends to civil cases as well. See McCarthy v. Arndstein, 266 U.S. 34 (1924).
A witness or defendant in a civil case may assert the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination if she can show that there is a real possibility that criminal authorities could use the information sought in a pending or future criminal case against her."

Thanks!!

Can their citing of the 5th be used to infer guilt or culpability in the civil trial?

Yes. In civil cases, “the Fifth Amendment does not forbid adverse inferences against parties to civil actions when they refuse to testify in response to probative evidence offered against them.” (Baxter v. Palmigiano (1976) 425 U.S. 308, 318.)

"After four sham arrests, indictments, and even a mugshot failed to break me, a Democrat judge is now trying to destroy my Family Business," Trump said in an email for his joint fundraising committee.

"Democrats are seeking to bring down the world-famous 'Trump Tower' and impose what some are calling 'the corporate death penalty' upon me," the email said. "The trial could begin as early as Monday."
