Entitled bipolar alcoholic with extremely confident lawyers. So much life wasted, and so much sadness for the victim, who lived an extraordinary life and made impact on many.

I hope she gets more than 15 years after she's convicted. This woman is a real piece of work.

She deserves to do the entire 25 years.

“A 26-year-old woman accused of shoving an 87-year-old Broadway vocal coach to the sidewalk and causing her death during a 'wine rampage' has rejected a 15-year plea deal offered by prosecuters for a second time.“

“Lauren Pazienza appeared in court handcuffed on Tuesday where she rejected the plea deal from woke Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's office. She also failed to have her manslaughter charge dropped, according to the New York Post. She faces up to 25 years in prison.“

"Wine fueled rampage". Now, there is a defense!

I don't see a lot of sympathy here for the defendant. And the victim appeared to have lived a vibrant life, dedicated to helping others, teaching singing.

15 years isn't much of a plea deal. The prosecution isn't going to budge here.

I wonder what her parole options are in New York after a Manslaughter conviction?

If parole usually given at 50% (or less?), the offered sentence is not a bad deal.

If she's smart she'll take the 15 years. She'll be out in 7, or less.

I wonder if she thinks she'll get off scot free. That's risky thinking.

If convicted on the manslaughter charge against her, she could be facing up to 25 years in prison.

yeah, I'm with you prosecutor isn't going to budge any lower. She'd be smart to take it.

I think the devil is in the details. New York has determinate and indeterminate sentences.

For an indeterminate sentence (say, 10-15 years), she apparently would still has access to not only an attractive parole possibility in 5 years, but also have access to some, but not all of, New Yorks juicy good time or "ready for restoration to the community" type release programs.

But... for a determinate sentence, she would need to do 85% of the 15 years. This is about 12 years and is not a "in and out, then back to your life" type sentence.

My guess is that the 15 type language could mean that the sentence is determinate. If so, the defense attorneys maybe fighting hard to get it changed to an indeterminate type offer.

Using alcohol as an excuse for homicide sets a dangerous precedent (a lawyer can clarify if that precedent has already been set). In that case anyone who wants to kill someone can swig a bottle of wine first and blame their actions on the wine.

She thinks she’s special.

She’s actually a spoiled, entitled rich kid who really believes she’s going to get off. Daddy’s gonna fix it for her. Some kind of personality disorder is at work here I’m guessing.

I think she’s in for a very big surprise and it’s not a good surprise.

It will be interesting to hear her defence.

Looks like LP’s attorney is going with a psych defense. Her trial has been moved to December.

Wow, flat out says they want a plea deal. I wonder if they'll get it.

I believe she was previously offered 15 years behind bars and didn’t take it! She’s looking at 25 years if convicted.

So, this one is not behind a paywall. It appears that there is significant evidence againt the "Long Island Sewage Queen". So, she is going with mental defect as a defense.

I would agree, that people who kill other people more than likely have a mental problem. However, I don't see it working here. JMO

Yeah... I don't know if temper tantrums will qualify as insanity...

I agree. I think she’s just a mean girl who has anger issues and cares little about others. After Barbara’s murder happened, I remember reading stories about how LP mocked deaf people and was hard to get along with. I feel so sad for Barbara’s family. This story really shook me up. How could LP just attack this wonderful woman and leave her for dead, and then hide from authorities? She’s a terrible person.

I'm not sure what will occur once negotiations start to take place....but I must say...I am delighted that she is still sitting in Rikers ;-)
