There are many different ways to determine what states are north, and which ones are south. I am from WV, and in our history it states we are the southern most northern state, and the northern most southern state......? Yeah, that always makes me shake my head too. When I look at Cali's NAMUS profile, the one thing that always strikes me as odd is the large number of scars listed. Is it just me.......or does it look like she has an unusually high amount?

I don't know if they were just lucky enough to be able to tally them all. I am not sure that most of them would be noticed except on autopsy.

just a quick question. Does anyone know if our Cali had ever had pierced ears or evidence of it. I can't recall reading it anywhere, but am just looking up missing persons in her age range and want to know if positive to rule out the girls who ever had pierced ears. Thanks

  • #984
Her Namus casefile now says that she had a single piercing in each ear. That is a change from before, where it indicated no piercings.

One of the postmortem photos shows a pretty clear view of her left earlobe, and I can't see a piercing.

A possible match I came across was O'Dina Jeanette Lucero age 18, missing 5/Sept/1979 Roswell NM. Unfortunatly I cant find a photo of her anywhere.

Yes, I considered that as a possibility......jsut seems to me as if she has an unusually high amount.

This is a problem on to many missing persons files. No photo and/or few details known.

Carl,
I think I've seen the photo of Cali w/ her earlobe. It's in color, right? And they have her head leaning on her right shoulder. If this is the one, or if it isn't, can you please post it or post a link? I have been searching for it and never found it again.

Zinc,
Thanks for the explanation of isotopes. So she could very well have been in the south/southwest until she was 8.

Still Seek Answers and Vstacey,
O'dina Lucero sounds like a possibility. I will look for a picture. Picture or not, we should gather as much info as possible about her, like blood type, and see if we can submit.

And now I see that websleuths has a short thread on O'dina Jeanette Lucero.

Regarding O'dina Jeanette Lucero, DOB Oct 9, 1960. In terms of high school, in the 1973- 1974 West Mesa High School yearbook has a DINA Lucero and a Jeanette Lucero.

Dina Lucero is a junior; in 1973-1974, O'dina Jeanette Lucero would have been 13, therefore Dina is not probably not her. (Although it's possible O'dina skipped three grades and went by Dina, I doubt it.)

Jeanette Lucero is a sophomore. Again, O'dina Jeanette had just turned 13 in the fall of 1973, so she would have had to skip two grades to be a sophomore.

More to come!

SKETCH OF MURDER VICTIM — This unidentified woman was found Saturday, Nov. 10 in a Caledonia cornfield. Authorities first believed the woman was about 20 years old after examining her teeth. X-rays taken Wednesday, Nov, 14, by a Dansville radiologist
indicate the woman may be 16 to 18 years old, Coroner Richard Johnson said. She had been wearing a bathing suit and was tanned. The woman had three, small, old scars on the second joint of the left index finger, was attractive, athletically built, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and had weighed between 115 and 125 pounds. She had brown eyes.

.

Maybe you are right, if the hitchhiking avenue is not substantiated as it now seems, maybe there was some kind of abuse or stress it there were so many scars.

Scars could mean anything; one would be that she had thin skin that cut easily if she rubbed against something. Sounds like most are at her joints

-1/2" scar on forehead at the hairline
-1" scar on front left shoulder
-1/2" scar on outer left ankle
-tiny scar on left knee, right knee, top of right foot, right ankle, inner right thigh
-skin defect that is 3"x1" that resembles an old burn scar on inner right thigh
-Z shaped scar on right shin
-1/2" scar on left forearm
-3 small scars on left index finger

I bet if someone went over my entire body really closely & carefully at that age- I would have at least that many...!

just out of curiosity..... I asked my teenage son (18) and 4 of his friends, all of whom played a variety of sports throughout their time in school......list every scar they have, no matter what size......and among 5 very active and healthy boys......I have less scars in front of me than is listed on Cali. Now, is this normal? Who can say....kids are kids and healthy active kids get cuts and scraps....some kids scar easier than others....and a variety of scenarios can explain the scars. Having said that, I still find the amount of scars she had as odd.

I am what DH calls "overly co-ordinated". I was a gymnast- and could do amazing things on a 4in balance beam- yet I walk into the wall, have bruises I can't explain- and the scars I have on my ankles from shaving are certainly visible. Of course, many scars are formed when cuts are not taken care of

They did state in the article that in this drawing her cheeks were drawn too fat, and the mouth was not captured correctly.

Bruises are what we always referred to as health marks.....my son's pediatrician once told me.....if a child comes in here and is never bruised, I become concerned that something is wrong because that child is not active enough......bruises do not scar......if the scars were localized, I'd not think them so unusual......
children gets cuts and scrapes all the time while running and playing, most of them do not scar.....and if they do scar, given the amount of skin growth still to occur, they will vanish quickly......take a minute and really look at that list......even considering my own childhood, we had acres of woods to run.....we have climbed fences, jumped from haylofts....rode horses and bikes, created many contraptions using washing machine motors.....to just name a few.....and when my sister vanished at age 13, she had one half inch scar on her knee, which she earned from a sled runner......as I said... kids will be kids, and everyone is different BUT......to me, she appears to have excess scars......and yes, not taking care of an injury can result in scaring......all my mind reads out of that is....this child sure had allot of injuries that were not attended to.....
