I would think asking a stranger for sex is certainly the same as a threat.

His mother says...April Williams. “I don’t know what else to say. I know my Jordan [acted in] self-defense.” that isn't what the other articles say. they make Williams the aggressor. Including the article with his mothers quote

The dead man, who appeared to be drunk, was talking about “white power” before asking the girlfriend if she wanted to have sex, with Williams then shoving the victim as things escalated.
A lot of people feel as this witness does..
A witness on the train the night Ouedraogo was stabbed told ABC7 that Mr Williams was not the aggressor, but also said he went too far in stabbing the man.

"It's certainly something he didn't start or would have probably been involved in if it weren't for, you know, the guy who was killed being the aggressor," the witness said. "But you can't kill someone just because, you know, they started a fight with you."

A man knifed someone on the subway? Killed him? Scary! Taking mass transit in NYC sounds like it is more dangerous than actually being in Rikers, NYC jail.

I hope Mayor Adams has a plan to make the subway system safer for all citizens.

This was the plan in February, 2022. Over a year later, doesn't seem to be making much of an impact.

I haven't been in New York since the '70's. Reading media, unlikely to return.

Personally, I've never, ever been asked for sex in public, and this woman was trapped in an enclosed space.

I understand the sexual assault victim has been released, but WOW blame the victim much? Cuffed & hauled in? For being female on the subway?

NYC has the lowest crime in 2023 than it has in a long time right now, and significantly lower since the last time you were there. Which doesn't mean crimes aren't happening, but we have social media and a 24-hour news cycle now - we just hear about it more. Hopefully the increased conversation continues to drive crime rates lower as we are all more aware.

I don't believe there is MSM to support that a sexual assault occurred.

While it may have been an inappropriate, uncomfortable or embarrassing situation, asking in public or in private if someone wants to have sex does not appear to constitute a sexual assault.

What’s the difference between sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual harassment and rape?

As for any involved individuals being cuffed, that is pretty much standard LE protocol in situations where they haven't had time to establish what transpired, especially when there is a dead victim and a weapon involved.

Just jumping off your post ...

At this point, I can't see the need for the situation to have escalated to the point someone was killed. Why introduce a knife into what could have remained an old fashioned, knock 'm out fisticuffs. Introducing a weapon into a physical confrontation would seem to constitute more force than is reasonably necessary when the other individual is not known to be armed. Online articles are confusing, but we have Jordan's mom indicating that the physical confrontation was initiated by Jordan with him "shoving the victim as things escalated" (although it is unlikely even she has all the details this early in the investigation.)

I do think Jordan believed he was acting honourably in defence of his girlfriend, but there always have been and will continue to be drunks, unsavory, obnoxious people. The public just can't be resorting to vigilante justice, taking the law into their own hands and killing other human beings. As in the Neely/Penny situation, the accused had no prior knowledge of Ouedraogo's criminal history, the case has resulted in manslaughter charges, with the addition of criminal weapon possession in this instance. IMO the difference in an ultimate jury decision in this case might boil down to what I see as a substantial mitigating factor that it seems Jordan Williams was in fact involved in a direct, front-on physical confrontation, whereas Penny was not.

The suspect was trying to flirt with a woman on board the train just after 2 a.m. at the Myrtle Avenue/Broadway stop in Bed-Stuy when another male rider intervened, sources said.

The two men began arguing, and the rowdy would-be Romeo knifed his 31-year-old victim in the chest and torso, according to sources.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition while the suspect is large, according to the NYPD.

Williams was charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon and released without bail. He faces up to 26 years behind bars if convicted.

“I really do not believe that you pose a flight risk – I just don’t,” Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Sherveal Mimes told Williams at his arraignment Thursday. “I think that your whole life is ahead of you. I think that you have every reason to fight this case with the support of your family.” bbm
*why did he need to stab him more than once? why did he need to stab him?
