I don't use the sites either, but just googling his user names gave me a few pages of sites. I'm guessing if there was anything to find LE had already gotten to it.

Can you share the names you've found? I know they're likely up-thread somewhere but I can't seem to find them.

Thanks for taking one for the team. I'm scared to go to those kind of sites for fear of catching a virus (NOT HSV) on my computer. Thought I had one the other day because I couldn't get their picture off my home page. Lawdy, I thought somebody had come up with a SH and NV virus..... I also didn't click on anything on his FB for fear of contamination and linking my computer to his computer that's probably loaded with child 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Next thing I know FBI will be knocking on my door. Need to fumigate my computer. If I owned the house where SH lived I would just bulldoze it completely down. Just get rid of it COMPLETELY and run over that old trailer house too. Couldn't clean it enough to get the creepy crawlies out for my liking. Maybe burn it down?? About ready to get my pitchfork and come up there and march (peacefully albeit) around the jail. :thewhip: Trying to come up with a chant. :stormingmad: :furious:

His brother owns the house. This is all going down as he's heading out on deployment. He says it's going to cost him a lot of money to get their stuff cleared out, and take care of things.

sado-steve was one. Can't remember the other. I think the sites are pretty hard-core.

Oh, gack. Well then... ahem. I think I'll leave that sleuthing to someone else.

Couple questions as I keep reading and catching up (I've been out of town at the IL's since the day after they were located)-

Do we have an updated map? If not, do you want me to update the original bing map I started?

Second, WTF is the crazy slave stuff. I hope to god those poor girls were NOT exposed to any of that. I get that it's a lifestyle for some, and do not judge, but for little girls who are a) minors and b) totally naive to sex or fetishes and whatnot, it would seriously traumatize them.

Anyway, just my two cents ... I'll keep reading but let me know about the map thing.

Ok still reading... couple more random thoughts-

1) I want to vomit. I can literally (yes in the literal sense) feel rage boiling up in my stomach. UGH. :(
2) This hits so close to home for me, it terrifies me. Not that they ever would be (bc of the water) but now especially, my boys will never be out of my site at our house up there.
3) One poster in the first thread described the area as idyllic- like norman rockwell- yes, that is mostly true. Beautiful rural countryside combined with a vacationy feeling waterfront with islands and cottages and nice boats and friendly people. Amish people with their fresh produce, furniture, etc. It's all very nice and peachy.

But there is a dark side. There is a huge heroin (pills and straight up shooting smack) problem in jefferson county and st. lawrence county. Huge meth problem. Major drug trafficking coming across the water from canada and to canada. I kid you not a few summers ago my cousins and I (we) found a pallet of (brick) weed in the marsh by our cottages. Of course we called the police- thats a huge major bag of trouble we don't need (and wtf, there were obviously really dangerous drug dealers/traffickers BY OUR HOUSES... wtf wtf wtf wtf- we all have kids!).

My father always taught us that even though everything seems hunky dory up there, and usually is, be weary, and NEVER hang out with the local talent. There are some real weirdos up there (and anywhere, really, but its more rural, less populated, more opportunity to hide crimes or perpetrate them, more opp to get lost in the woods, etc)

Also, being barefoot is the norm up there. All of our roads in and out of the house are gravel and my feet have been "summerfied"... I could probably walk across coals. Definitely a field of legos. Ok back to reading...

Oh and one more thing- targeted because of opportunity? Definitely, they probably thought "oh these guys dont even use phones, we'll have those girls so far gone before they even know what happened"... obviously they were wrong and stupid. Typical criminals.

In my experience in life...the more rural of the place...the worse the drug problem. I don't know if it's boredom, or that it's easier to hide it in the country. Drugs have been an advanced cancer in every rural town I've lived in.

Hi KristinSchmistin! Glad you're back and appreciate your local input! I would love to see an updated map! I know several good websleuthers have posted some maps, but you can never have too many - especially an updated one by an *Awesome* local.

P.S.: What does your avatar say? I keep trying to enlarge it to read it.

P.S.S.: I love your doggy pic! Cool pooch!

I'd also like to thank Ontario Mom for bringing this story to Websleuths. :tyou: :yourock: This is such an interesting case because the children are safe and sound and we have the perps to examine under the microscope. Indeed a rarity in this day and age! Thanks again OM! :canada: rocks!

The avatar is the mr. roger's quote: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”― Fred Rogers

That's what websleuths is/are- helpers. I will get working on map. Shouldn't take long - it would be good to have one consolidated map that everyone refers to so there is no confusion as the google map has wrong street names compared to bing (I found out the hard way)

:wagon: :greetings: So glad you posted Cranky! Wow, you really are pretty close to this. What has been the reaction in your community? Pretty much the same as the girls' community I would imagine. I remember the lady that spoke (Rain) regarding the Amish community. She said they are a resilient people and they live in the here and now and don't dwell on the past and they will move on from this near-tragedy.

Thank you for the welcome!

I *think* the Stinson's knew where the girls lived and didn't want to have them traumatized more than they were. Having police show up and then being taken to a hospital would be worse. MOO . The girls just wanted to be back with their family.

I have no words for those 2 (the perps, not the girls). Oh, I do, however, I don't want to get banned - busted - or a time out.:facepalm:MOO

BBM- totally agree. I feel like they are "amish friendly" and probably called the police to notify, and explain that the girls seemed traumatized- the parents who were probably w police said "yeah yeah bring them over we'll meet you or escort, etc" and that's probably how it went down. The amish do not have a lot of involvement with the police. It probably would have terrified the girls if they weren't familiar with LE, KWIM?

It's not uncommon to do something like that- especially since the police escorted them part-way. It's a good little drive on those roads so I can totally see it happening that way. Also- in theory IF they were the kidnappers (which they aren't obviously) they would be literally driving right to the police- and likely wouldn't call the police and let them know the girls came to their house.

Also, welcome! Where are you from up there? We have a summer house off chippewa bay/blind bay- our dock faces the channel/singer castle.

1380 county Route 21, Hermon, NY

Thanks! I'm going to embed in post below, and provide a link. If there are more locations that need to be added, please let me know. I used Bing maps vs google because the miller's farm road was mislabeled in google maps.

  • #458
Ok embedding it did NOT work. I am writing the wrong code apparently.

Here is a link to the map thus far. Can we all be lambs and just use one and update as needed so there is no confusion? :)

Thanks! Lovely job. I didn't see the link to tax records, but SH's brother says he's owned the property for the past 10 years.

Question: if you were going to drive from the Stinson's place to the Amish family farm, do you think you'd be more likely to head WSW on Richville-Bigelow Rd and pick up 812/11 that way? Or would you head NE on 33/18 (Dekalb Junction-Richville Rd) to Red Rock Road, and then get to 812 that way? Or do you think either route would be likely?

I would always defer to any variant of rt12 (812 in this case) and 11. Both are "highways" (two lane) but high speed. Some parts of 812 may even be 4 lane now that I think of it as you get closer to Ogdensberg. But yeah I would take the 11-812 route even though according to maps it's a few miles longer- at that time of night with no traffic it's a safer way to speed on over there. Higher speed limit. The other route 17- 812 is a slower speed windier route on 17. So....

Yeah always stick to more main roads lol, especially out there, there are so many deer you want to stay as out in the open/straight as possible traveling at high speeds.

I think if you click on the pin for the house it will link you via pin. Or right click on that pin.
