Today's tweets from the courtroom reveal Conley in interrogation videos denying the anonymous letters were written in Nov. saying she wrote it in Sept.

Conley maintains in video that she typed them in September. VanNamee says she's lying. They found out about case in Oct.

She bought prepaid cards as "gifts", but can't answer how the card numbers got sent to pay for the colchicine in an email I guess from her phone.

Micaela Parker‏ @OD_Parker 3h3 hours ago

How did the card number get to California? She doesn't know.

More back and forth. VanNamee asks: "Who's going to buy that? That's a straight up lie."

V talking about her phone. Conley in video says if her phone was so "involved" and she knew it, she would have gotten rid of it.

"You said it yourself I'm smart," Conley says in video. "If I had known my phone was involved I would have gotten rid of it."

I didn't follow Arias. What makes the cases similar?

Some examples that I have noted:
- Partial admissions of involvement
- Victim blaming
- Purposeful answers that are meant to point the finger elsewhere and then obvious silence during questioning which make it noticeable that her story is not well thought out.
- Conley: If I did this, I would've thrown away my phone. Arias: If I did this, I would've used gloves.

In addition:
- fatal attraction- morbidly infatuated with their love interest to the point where it is unhealthy and dangerous
- writing about the victim in glowing terms (Arias wrote a letter to her victim's grandmother and Conley wrote about Dr Yoder on facebook
- stealing as part of the crime- Arias stole a gun from grandfather, Conley stole money from the chiropractic office

We're soon approaching the end to this trial and closing statements on Thursday.

There hasn't been any real bombshells. Adam's cousin he lived with might be allowed to testify. It's too late, but the defense still hopes to pin this crime on Adam.

I wish Juan Martinez would put it all together for us. Wonder if Conley will take the stand in her defense.

:moo: Cow needed here. Personally, I'm glad I'm not on the jury. There's tons of circumstantial evidence to pin this on Conley, but I think the jury will struggle without a motive. I'm worried. There weren't many witnesses to flesh out and provide enough emotional background on the relationships. Conley seemed to admire Dr. Mary, etc., Plus there doesn't seem to be a monetary motive for Conley to do it.

Please I'd love to hear what you think.

[h=1]Prosecution rests; defense begins their case in Conley murder trial[/h]Updated:

"You bought the credit card that bought the Colchicine that ends up in Mary's system. See where that kind of shows where this is going? How do you explain this one to me?" asked Lieutenant Robert Nelson.

Conley, at one point, challenged the lieutenant.
"If I knew it, if I did this and I knew it was on my phone, then I'm also smart enough to know to get rid of my phone," said Conley to Nelson, during the interview.

"But you didn't, did you?" asked Nelson. "And now we've got your phone."

Both Nelson and Investigator Mark VanNamee tried, relentlessly, to persuade Conley to give a reason for the crime; motive.

"Was it Adam? Was it something because of Adam, your relationship with him? Is it that? Money?" asked Nelson.

At one point, Conley sobbed uncontrollably.

"I'll go to jail forever," said Conley. "No, you will not, Katie. You won't go to jail forever. There's reasons for everything," said Nelson. "I won't be able to graduate," said Conley.

Conley said that she had people who love her.

"Everybody has people that love them, Katie. Mary had people that love her, and those people need answers," said Nelson.

Closing arguments will be delivered Thursday, at which time the jury is expected to begin their deliberations.

Hi, Curious. I think Conley did it because Dr. Mary had "abandoned" her in favor of Adam's new love interest. Conley knew that Dr. Mary could have divulged Adam's whereabouts, but she would not do it. In Conley's view that was a betrayal. Conley knew that she'd never be a part of that family now. She was angry at Dr. Mary, and spiteful towards Adam. Poisoning Dr. Mary was a way for her to even the score. [large hereford -- MOO!!]

Alexwood, see that's what the jury hungers for, IMO. I don't think there's been enough hints at an emotional motive presented by the Prosecution. Conley started trying to order the colchicine at the end of December 2014. Now, maybe I missed it because not being in the courtroom makes it hard to follow a trial, but I wanted emotional tidbit details for that time period. I wanted to hear all about Adam and Kaitlyn, if they were in contact and getting along, or were they broken up with Adam dating someone else. You do a great job painting that emotional abstract. I worry some of the jury might not be able to grasp a senseless emotional motive without help.

Interesting tweets.

Lots of spaghetti being thrown at the courtroom ceiling. Adam's cousin he lived with was up on stand, and then cousin's mother. Brought up for concern was that Adam had old pill bottles, IP addresses and a mysterious cocoa container.

Discussing the father, William, brought back the discussion of the 1981 hermitically sealed gift of weed. The romance between Mary's sister and William starting so soon is of concern. Hard to tell if any of this spaghetti will stick.

Also on the stand today, Sharon, Dr. Mary's sister who lives in Florida, the one that contacted LE first about her sister's suspicious death.

Sharon says she told the investigators her theories re the case, possible suspects. 1/2

She told them if it was William they wouldn't be able to catch him. "Because I believe he's brilliant." Lisi objects. 2/2

Sharon testifies that yes, she did tell an investigator she believes William Yoder "exerts mind control" over people.

Thank You wfgodot. :tyou:

Both news articles are packed full of interesting details or half details. Mary's one sister described as "disturbed and hooked up with men who were disturbed". What's that about?

I think two witnesses on the stand today helped add suspicion to the husband William. Perhaps his romance with Mary's sister started before she died? Perhaps he did know how to use that front office computer and typewriter quite efficiently. That comment about William being too brilliant to catch gives me pause, but I honestly can't see him able to tamper with Conley's phone and the IPA addresses, and technical acrobats. However, perhaps he exerts mind control over people, as one sister-in-law said.

MOO, it's just odd that not many people thought Conley did this initially, and when considering it they didn't think she'd do this alone. It's not like everybody pointed to Conley. As one sister Sharon Mills testified, "It made no sense that Katie would do this." I think William might've come to some minds before Conley. But then, Conley goes and points to Adam, not William, with her anonymous letter! There's too many pointing fingers here! I don't envy those jury members.

Thank you, Curious, for keeping us on our toes and soliciting our opinions. As you can see, mine changes daily! But, as you pointed out, Conley first sought to get her hands on some colchicine in 2014! She wasn't mad (YET!) at Dr. Mary, I don't believe. I do think, like some of you guys, that Conley first attempted to poison Adam. Then, when that didn't work, she "hung onto" the colchicine, maybe with the idea that she might try to use it again on Adam, if things continued to "go south." She'd make darned sure it worked the next time, though. But, in her heart (believe it or not, she has one or wouldn't be alive), she really wanted to be loved and cherished by Adam. She wanted to marry him -- and be a part of his family. The only reason she got hold of the colchicine was because Adam didn't seem to be interested in a future with her.

I do believe that Conley has a personality disorder called: "Borderline Personality." (Moo-Moo!) This is just my own opinion! Take it for what it's worth ($00.00)! I don't know anything for certain, and am not qualified to diagnose anyone with anything!

That Adam was doing his best to keep his distance from Conley, also made her angry enough to want to attempt to poison him again, but she never had another opportunity to use the colchicine on Adam. And, there may have been a few occasions where they reunited for a night here and there, and that gave her hope that she could manipulate him to her advantage.

But when Adam rejected her, apparently because he had a new love interest -- Conley knew she was going to lose him. I am not clear if Adam had the new girlfriend before Dr. Mary was poisoned. If he did, and if Dr. Mary was encouraging him in his new relationship, that truly would have have enraged Conley and spurred her into action -- This time with Dr. Mary as her target.

Conley had easy access to Dr. Mary, and working closely with her she could "doctor" her protein shake with colchicine without being caught. Dr. Mary's death would devastate Adam, and drive him back into her clutches -- away from that new woman! She would be in a position where she'd make herself indispensable to the grieving family, too, (who, she now perceived, were rejecting/abandoning her as a likely marriage partner for Adam and a future addition to their family). Her seeming kindness and selfless support of the family in their time of need would restore Conley to her former status. All my opinion only! :moo:

Thanks, Curious, and everyone here for keeping the torch burning for this trial, which surprisingly doesn't seem to have generated much interest among our fellow Websleuths. :dunno:.

If Conley could get Adam back, the only thing she could do was get back at him, Lisi says.

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Vengence, thy name is Kaitlyn Conley," Lisi says.

Defense had the husband William bringing cough drops and a inhaler to his wife in the hospital. Defense suggested perhaps husband gave her a second dose to finish her off by rolling cough drops in the colchicine.

http://romesentinel.com/public-safe...asonable-doubt/QBqqek!EPUUNo4J92g7HapTcqKFrA/

The Prosecutor didn't leave the jurors wondering about a possible motive. She spelled it out.

Motive in this case comes down to two words: Adam Yoder,” Lisi told the jury of seven women and five men.

“Everything that this defendant did, every step she took, all was in the name of Adam Yoder. This case is all about the on again, unhealthy relationship between Kaitlyn Conley and Adam Yoder.”

Conley is charged with second-degree murder and is accused of poisoning Dr. Mary Yoder with the deadly toxin colchicine on July 20, 2015. Prosecutors claim Conley slipped Yoder the toxin while working as receptionist at the Yoder family Chiropractic Family Care office in Whitesboro.

The prosecution does not have to prove motive, according to state law, Lisi said, but Conley was motivated by her relationship with Adam Yoder.

“Kaitlyn Conley is a very complex individual,” Lisi said. “She was not ready, willing or able to let him go. She would do whatever it took to get him back.”

They say crime doesn't pay, but you can attempt to cut corners when committing crimes.

Definitely try to get the 10% discount to save money when you're online ordering a deadly drug to poison your boss. :notgood:

Well, you gotta hand it to her for being frugal with the employers' buck. Maybe this will shave some time off of her sentence -- 10% reduction? (LOL!) Or, maybe she was awarded the 10% off coupon through her "frequent buyer rewards" club.
