remember how long it took to find Chandra Levy, in Rock Creek Park?
I think she went off of the bridge. An hour walk isn't very far when you're distraught.Unfortunately, I think she’s still in the park.
I agree! Local resident Victor posted last week that there was an "extensive network of cameras" around the park and I assumed that LE had footage that influenced their search. We really have NO clues!

In 22 months ending in 2013, the bridge was the site of 7 suicides and 7 attempts. I think another WSer posted a better link upthread.
It's possible that she waited until after dark.it would have been broad daylight during the morning commute though. I don’t see how someone wouldn’t have reported that but it’s possible.

Those tweets ae terrifying...I live in NYC and cross that bridge often. Since 9/11 that bridge is closely watched, it has cameras etc. People can see the jumpers from boats and apartment buildings in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Most of the jumpers stop their cars on the busy bridge and jump. Here is a list of the recent jumpers and attempts. Queen of the Click~Taking Over the World from Brooklyn, NY
Here is a video of the bridge Monday during a storm, to show the layout of the upper level bridge, not so easy just to go and walk on it. In this case the traffic was stopped due to the wind and the swaying of the bridge, it has 3 lanes in each direct on both levels. https://twitter.com/i/status/1333427951900176386
This is also during Monday's storm the bridge swaying after they got the cars off of it. https://twitter.com/i/status/1333775379010609152

Another poster said the same last week, about it being almost impossible to jump from that bridge for the reasons you state.
Praying for your continued strength, healing and peace, airportwoman.I'm a licensed pharmacist who realized in 2012 that the profession I practiced and loved for 18 years was no longer the one I had trained for. I'm still licensed (although I'm thinking about not renewing in 2022) but in the ensuing years, I have had an online resale business out of my home.
I've had a cancer diagnosis in the meantime, and healing emotionally from that was less traumatic than this was, so I do understand a bit.
Staten Island resident here, body found in the lakeHi NYC resident and healthcare worker here. COVID was terrible here and now with another wave, there's been an uptick in doctors dying by suicide. Just 2 weeks ago one if the doctors at my hospital died by suicide and jumped off the top of the parking garage. I work in inpatient psych so my mind automatically goes to decompensating mental health. There are many bridges to jump from not just by SI. Also, it doesn't have to be a bridge of course. But just the amount of doctors and healthcare professionals that have died by suicide this year is unnerving. Just my own opinion of course. I hope it's not what I think it is.
I am really sorry to be the bringer of such tragic news
