I agree! Local resident Victor posted last week that there was an "extensive network of cameras" around the park and I assumed that LE had footage that influenced their search. We really have NO clues!

Hoboken used to have an array of non-functioning cameras around town. This was discovered when a guy went missing (he ended up in the water) and during the investigation the town was unable to produce the video footage from the night he went missing. I question if that’s the case here too.

it would have been broad daylight during the morning commute though. I don’t see how someone wouldn’t have reported that but it’s possible.
It's possible that she waited until after dark.

I also believe it's possible she's still in the park, though I give credence to the searches there given that the leaves have fallen and it's a very populous area.

I found this while searching for info on amount of ground good K9 SAR dogs can cover. I haven't found specific distances yet.
arch area. Conversely, air-scenting dogs are capable of working effectively while other teams are in the same search area. They also have the unique advantage of working off leash, are able to cover large areas of ground, and are not hindered by water. These dogs are able to locate scent from a living person or from a human cadaver, depending on their training. An air scenting dog is more flexible than a tracking or trailing dog in that it does not require a scent article or a trail to follow. The dog sniffs the air to identify the human scent, and once it recognizes this scent, the dog follows the scent to its source. These dogs will quickly recognize when they lose human scent, reversing their direction until they return to the scent cone. Working into the wind, the air scent handler will typically search an area in a grid pattern. In addition to the preponderance of air scenting dogs in SAR, air scenting is also the primary search method in dogs trained to find specific scents such as explosives, drugs, or evidence in a crime scene. Typically, SAR teams can also be classified according to the environment in which they work, such as urban or disaster, wilderness or large area search, evidence or small area search, water, or avalanche.1 Teams can also be classified according to rescue (termed live find teams), in which dogs are trained to identify live victims, or recovery (termed cadaver teams), in which dogs are trained to identify human remains. Some dogs are trained to identify and discriminate both live victims and human remains.

I noticed the park is covered in fallen leaves. I'm trying to figure out if the K9's could have covered the entire 198 acres by now or not.

I think she went off of the bridge. An hour walk isn't very far when you're distraught.

SI Live Editorial Calls On MTA To Prevent Verrazano Suicides - BKLYNER

In 22 months ending in 2013, the bridge was the site of 7 suicides and 7 attempts. I think another WSer posted a better link upthread.

I live in NYC and cross that bridge often. Since 9/11 that bridge is closely watched, it has cameras etc. People can see the jumpers from boats and apartment buildings in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Most of the jumpers stop their cars on the busy bridge and jump. Here is a list of the recent jumpers and attempts. Queen of the Click~Taking Over the World from Brooklyn, NY

Here is a video of the bridge Monday during a storm, to show the layout of the upper level bridge, not so easy just to go and walk on it. In this case the traffic was stopped due to the wind and the swaying of the bridge, it has 3 lanes in each direct on both levels. This is the upper level; https://twitter.com/i/status/1333427951900176386

This is also during Monday's storm the bridge swaying after they got the cars off of it. Upper level; https://twitter.com/i/status/1333775379010609152

Those tweets ae terrifying...
Another poster said the same last week, about it being almost impossible to jump from that bridge for the reasons you state.

More possible to stop the car and jump because it can happen so fast as opposed to walking onto that bridge to jump. There are police and cameras all over the place.

I am very impressed with how totally shut down this case is from all angles. No LE updates, absolutely no comments from family, no pleas to spread the word etc. absolutely no comments from extended family or friends. All SM accounts taken down. It is two weeks now and we know next to nothing more about her disappearance as facts. Amazing. MOO MOO MOO

I'm a licensed pharmacist who realized in 2012 that the profession I practiced and loved for 18 years was no longer the one I had trained for. I'm still licensed (although I'm thinking about not renewing in 2022) but in the ensuing years, I have had an online resale business out of my home.

I've had a cancer diagnosis in the meantime, and healing emotionally from that was less traumatic than this was, so I do understand a bit.
Praying for your continued strength, healing and peace, airportwoman.

Hi NYC resident and healthcare worker here. COVID was terrible here and now with another wave, there's been an uptick in doctors dying by suicide. Just 2 weeks ago one if the doctors at my hospital died by suicide and jumped off the top of the parking garage. I work in inpatient psych so my mind automatically goes to decompensating mental health. There are many bridges to jump from not just by SI. Also, it doesn't have to be a bridge of course. But just the amount of doctors and healthcare professionals that have died by suicide this year is unnerving. Just my own opinion of course. I hope it's not what I think it is.

@NicMed329 How absolutely tragic. I imagine that with the pandemic it's impossible to give patients and their families the care they want to give, because there are too many patients. I heard some doctors are working very long periods with no days off. It's wrong, it's inhumane what's being expected of healthcare workers in some areas.
MOO.
