Sisters Kayla and Karen Seals made the initial discovery after hearing what they described as odd noises and at first thinking it was an animal in distress.

[...]

“Her legs were just dangling in the bag, her head was in the bag, her whole head was covered all the way down,” Kayla Seals said.

Police praised the sisters for immediately getting the child inside and rendering aid

They say the teen has been arraigned in Elmira City Court and is facing attempted murder charges.

[...]

"You ain't got no right to do that to that baby. Ain't no right. And it really hurt my feelings. And I ain't got no kids, and you do that to a child, Lord," says Karen
Seals, who noticed the bag moving Tuesday afternoon.

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- A mother put her baby girl in a bag Saturday and placed her on the ground in a backyard in Elmira, police said.

Then, the teenage mom walked away -- leaving her daughter to die, police said in a felony complaint filed in Elmira City Court.

Three days passed before a neighbor found the crying 8-month-old girl alive behind a home, according to the Elmira Police Department.

Somehow, the baby survived.

The mother looks stoned in all her Facebook pics. I hope the poor sweet baby makes a full recovery and is placed in a safe, loving home. It's a miracle she survived!

Praise be that the sisters were able to hear the cries and the baby survived.
I just don't understand the mentality of some teenagers these days.

From what I understand, the mother carried that baby across state lines (from PA to NY) and discarded her. Has anyone learned how LE was able to connect the baby to the mother?

Here is the court document.

Wow what an evil thing to do and what a miracle the little one survived! Her guardian angel worked overtime I'm sure.

Terrible what some people are capable of. Do they have no heart, no feelings, no empathy, not even for their own baby?

Very sad :(

why didnt she give her to family? jesus.

I just don't understand.

I don't either. If she didn't want to raise the child, just give it up for adoption. A lot of people would be interested.

(No words appropriate to post....does this is ever end? I want to leave this place so bad sometimes because really how healthy is it to read this kind of stuff all the time...but I stay here because I somehow want to help, maybe make a difference somehow somewhere...I'm sure some of you might feel the same way sometimes...)

she's got different family members who've posted on her FB how much they love her and the baby ... so she can't b.s. that she lacked support

She looks stoned in most of her pictures-and did you see that one of the baby sitting covered in mud? Classy!

the mud pic in and of itself didn't bother me at all. my kids have played in the mud. but she looks off for sure.

Sad thing is there seems to be so many people that love that baby, why didn't she turn to any of them for help?
