Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyer Christian Everdell responds to the letter, claiming the revelation regarding the juror "presents incontrovertible grounds for a new trial under Rule 33."

This whole tower of cards is built on the idea that child sex abuse is a rare thing, out of the ordinary. It's common. The odds are he wasn't the only one on the jury with a history of sex abuse. And why are we to believe someone with a history of sexual abuse is less reliable than, say, a bully victim, or someone with low income, or someone who can outrank GM in the social sphere, or someone who hates women.... We've all got our own experiences: that's kinda the point.

Court Inquiry Requested After Ghislaine Maxwell Juror Goes Public as Survivor of Sexual Abuse

Former federal prosecutor Mitchell Epner, who led intake on sex trafficking cases in the District of New Jersey between 2003 and 2004, said of the development: “This is huge.”

“The question was asked and the government knows the answers that were given,” said Epner, who is now of counsel for Rottenberg Lipman Rich PC. “I assume that he did not reveal past sexual abuse, or else there would be nothing to investigate. This could easily result in a new trial.”

Ex-federal prosecutor Moira Penza, who helped convict NXIVM cult member Keith Raniere, wrote on Twitter that Maxwell’s legal team would have to prove “substantial prejudice” to disturb an otherwise “sacrosanct” jury verdict.

“Given juror’s admission, prosecutors are right to ask for an inquiry but if he says it was a mistake and is credited by [U.S. District] Judge [Alison] Nathan, that’s prob[ably] the end of it,” tweeted Penza, who is now a partner at Wilkinson Stekloff.

In a separate letter, Ghislaine Maxwell's legal team opposes the request for a court inquiry on how the juror's press interviews square with his voir dire. They argue the judge "can and should order a new trial without any evidentiary hearing."

However they do it...ie court action or a new trial I assume she would have to stay incarcerated ? i mean she is still classed as guilty as it stands and I doubt that will change somehow

Yes she is still convicted and will have to stay in jail. Even if by some miracle she got a new trial the judge isn't going to give her bond because he made it clear she is a flight risk.

I’m still trying to comprehend why on earth this juror decided to give interviews. And so quickly. Money? Notoriety?

Going by how intricate this web is… and putting an insane scenario forward here…. Could he have been planted and this planned all along? I’ve just read on another thread Epstein could have been an intelligence asset… friends in secret high places perhaps? wild wild theory I know but my mind is on overdrive with all this. MOO of course.

ETA: Maybe not all along but as a back up. Yes he says he helped convince other jurors but… do we know this to be fact? We may never know.

No date for a hearing on the Maxwell juror yet. But Judge Nathan has set a schedule for briefings on "whether an inquiry of some kind is permitted and/or required, and, if so, the nature of such an inquiry."

Although the Court reserves decision on whether an inquiry of any kind is warranted, the Court grants the Government’s request, Dkt. No. 568, to offer court-appointed counsel to the juror in issue.
