The information that an NYPD officer was one of the last know "contact" of MBB is very significant. Certainly they have to go through his life with a fine tooth comb; particularly during the time the others disappeared. If he was only "one of the last" but not the last, he is probably in the clear if she kept another "date" after her Contact" with him. Obviously, it the "last" one that matters. There is some suggestion in the reportage that the "last" contact used an "untraceable" disposable phone. I wonder where he purchased the phone; I'm betting South Shore LI.

This guy Perez is certainly worth looking at carefully as is anyone with a history of hurting hookers. He seemed to live in Queens/west Nassau Co which is not exactly Gilgo Beach SK's known "comfort zone" but close enough.

I wouldn't pay much attention to JB's claim that he and SG didn't have sex or he didn't pay her. Only a fool would admit doing these things with a prostitute. He could have been arrested and charged. Remember, at the time, this was a petty 911 call from what seemed like a mentally ill caller, not a murder investigation.

From my (limited) experience following True Crime, we should expect a complete media "black out" if anyone in Law Enforcement becomes a suspect.

I think it is most likely that she provided services and he paid her. She was there three hours. JB told a different ridiculous story because prostitution is illegal and he was trying to cover his 🤬🤬🤬, as was the driver.

I wonder if there was a shakedown.

Im not kidding.

  • #103
Three hours would be a long time for a shakedown, plus his doing her the courtesy of taking her somewhere or her taking him somewhere.

  • #104
no, no...I mean the cops...maybe they got there earlier then they say...maybe the cops
were taking advantage of a situation.

you know...is there any cash laying around? got any drugs on you? we will take the girl...etc....

  • #105
maybe a plainclothes with a radio...picked up the call but didn't respond to dispatch.

  • #106
maybe a plainclothes with a radio...picked up the call but didn't respond to dispatch.

But how would he know before he got there that prostitution and drugs were involved?

Of course we don't know what SG said to the dispatcher.

maybe JB is a dealer and certain people know about it.

cops can feel these things...they can put 2 and 2 together really fast.

here where I live, I have had, over the years

known a dealer who got shaken down in a big bust...where they took EVERYTHING...robbed the guy blind ....never took him in.

had a cop steal my dog.

had two cops try to shake my husband and I down over a late night traffic infraction.

actually took me to my home to get money for them...many many years ago...but still.

so this would not be out of the realm in my mind.

I wonder if at this particular juncture...where Shannan is calling 911...

I wonder if Shannan is not only minus her driver money, but other money as well...I wonder if MP procured drugs for her...a drug debt would compound the situation.

what are the possible reprecussions for Shannan?

would she have to resort to looking for johns on the street? would she get her 🤬🤬🤬 kicked? would she be unable to recoup the kind of money she would have gotten from JB? in one tranaction at that hour?

I am just trying to think like a working girl in trouble.

Hi, Minazoe. I don't think that we have to look beyond the immediate situation. In her somewhat frenzied state, Shannan was both asking for help and then running away from it. Eventually, the mania would subside and she would realize that she was effectively in the middle of nowhere without a ride home. Whether she had money (from both jobs that day or at least from the previous one) or not, she had still abandoned her driver. Getting a ride would her most pressing priority.

From personal information I have I can say that he is not a dealer. He's more of a buyer

so you think she got in a car with someone unrealted to this case?

some other killer?

or the same killer of the other girls who just happens to use that beach as a hidey hole?

wonder if JB has any cop friends?

I wonder if this is the same officer Michael Pererz, and whose story does the part I bolded below remind you of???

"February 9, 2010:

QUEENS MAN FIRST IN NEW YORK STATE
TO BE SENTENCED UNDER SEX TRAFFICKING STATUTE
Victim Made To Work As Prostitute While Defendant Acted As Her Pimp

The District Attorney identified the defendant as David Brown, 32, of 188-52 120th Road in St. Albans, Queens. The defendant was convicted in December 2009 of second-degree kidnapping, sex trafficking, third-degree promoting prostitution, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and third-degree
assault
following a two-week jury trial before Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael Aloise. Justice Aloise today declared the defendant, who has six felony convictions, to be a persistent felony offender which allows for a sentence enhancement. The defendant was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

The District Attorney said that, according to trial testimony, in August 2008, the 19-year-old victim was “sold” to Brown by an ex-girlfriend who was an acquaintance of the victim’s for $2,000. The defendant told the victim that she would be his “*****” and that she would work as a prostitute in order to earn him money. Brown also told her that she was not allowed to talk to her family or friends or leave his apartment without him or else he would beat her and cut up her body to make sure that no one would know she was dead. Whenever Brown left the location, he would have someone watch the victim to make sure that she didn’t leave.

Trial testimony also revealed that Brown took nude photographs of the victim in various poses and posted the photographs on Craigslist to advertise her services as a prostitute. Testimony showed that during a 12-day period in August the victim engaged in sexual acts with approximately thirty men in exchange for cash – ranging from $60 to $200 – which she turned over to Brown.

Finally, on August 23, 2008, the victim managed to escape from Brown’s residence when left alone. However, the next morning, Brown and an unapprehended male found her at a location on Lefferts Avenue near Far Rockaway. Brown and the unapprehended male who was holding a gun
approached her and Brown grabbed her by the wrist and said that she had to come back with him to earn him money as a prostitute before forcing her into a car. The victim eventually was able to telephone a friend who called police.

District Attorney Brown said that Brown and a co-defendant, Nino Isakadze, 21, were originally arrested on August 24, 2008, on charges of raping the victim and forcing her into prostitution. ......

The investigation was conducted by the New York City Police Department’s Queens Gang Squad – specifically Police Officer Michael Perez and Detective Anthony Bachiller under the supervision of Sergeant Patrick Delaney – and the Vice Major Case Squad – specifically Detective Paul Carlin and Detective George Munoz, under the overall supervision of Chief Brian Conroy. Sergeant Evelyn Alegre of the District Attorney’s Detective Bureau, under the supervision of Chief Lawrence J. Festa, also helped with the investigation. ....."

Even if this is not the officer who "resigned" in 1991, this article and especially the defendant, in this case, highlights and mirrors what many of us have considered happened to the OB victims. In red, I have highlighted trigger points; or aspects that might be significant in the OB and Manorville cases.

This case was investigated by the Queens Gang Squad.

So there were at least three men involved in keeping this woman hostage and pimping her out via Craigslist.

David Brown 32 of Queens
Nino Isakadze 21
were arrested and in jail during some part of 2008
The third man is referred to as an un-apprehended male.

The woman was held against her will and unable to speak with her family

She was told if she tried to leave she would be beaten and cut up so that no one would know that she was dead.

When she did escape she was found by David Brown and the un-apprehended male who held a gun to her and then she was "forced into a car" and taken back.

I can't help but to wonder if this same type of thing didn't happen to SG, JT, "Peaches," MB & MBB (they could have been kept for quite a long time.) One wonders if MW was being recruited. I almost see ALC as the type who was a little higher up on the totem pole of a similar group and could have been "associating" with and recruiting some of the OB victims before they were killed. The thought of her as being killed because she wasn't keeping other girls in line is also a possibility. (She is the only GB4 victim that was not reported missing. She is also one of two, iirc, who left in casual dress without her phone. No need for a phone if you are just going to meet with an associate or a supervisor of sorts.) ALC and MB were also the only women living locally.

I don't take anything JB or MP says at face value. However, both state that JB either called the driver, or went down to get the driver, because SG was refusing to leave. If we are to believe that, then there had to be a reason she refused to leave. If she was terrified, why would she stick around? Money seems a pretty good answer, imo. Add to that JB's statement to SG's sister that SG didn't look like her picture, and the fact that SG was intoxicated and acting erratically, and the 911 call she made, and do YOU think JB was going to pay her? I don't.

This is very interesting: From BNO a wire service news link...

"During the two-week trial it was revealed that Brown bought the 19-year-old victim from an ex-girlfriend in August 2008. He paid $2,000 and told the victim she would be his “*****”. During 12 days the victim was forced to work as a prostitute in order to gain money for Brown. She was held in Brown’s apartment and wasn´t allowed to leave.

However, the victim managed to escape custody on August 23 and the defendant and Nino Isakadze, 21, found her next morning. Eventually, she was able to phone a friend who called the police.

Both men were arrested on August 24. Unfortunately the victim ran away and both criminals were released. Later, on September, an investigation revealed that Devon Gordon, 27, Brown’s brother paid the victim’s silence and hid her. Gordon was sentenced to a conditional release. Isakadze remains at large and wanted for rape and forcing into prostitution charges."

authorities learned that the victim had run away. Unable to locate the victim and proceed with the case in a timely fashion, the Court was forced to release the defendants without bail pursuant to Criminal Procedure Law 180.80. The

victim was subsequently found on Sept. 23, 2008, when she was arrested on a charge of loitering for the purposes of prostitution. A joint investigation by the New York City Police Department and the Queens District Attorney’s Office revealed that Brown’s brother, Devon Gordon, 27, of 60 Rahme Avenue in East Rockaway, L.I., had paid the victim not to testify and then hid her.

Gordon has since pleaded guilty to tampering with a witness and was sentenced to a conditional discharge.

I respectfully disagree. A SK would know that the last John of each victim's career would be a prime suspect. Also, while with a John, escorts are usually on high alert.

A smart SK would have a date with an escort and then secretly stalk the girl after their session together. Imagine an unexpected knock on the door much later in the evening because he "forgot" something in the room.

Or, imagine "coincidentally" running into each other on the street the next evening.

Sorry, but all of the Johns from the last two or three days are prime (and more likely) suspects!

Hi, Minazoe. There is no reason to believe that she got into the car of either the driver or the john. As for "hidey hole," there is no reason to believe that her disappearance is connected in anyway to the Gilgo Beach corpses. In fact, there is some reason to believe that it is not: She vanished before three of the victims and after one, yet her body was not found in this thoroughly searched area. Nor does Brewer fit any profile of an organized killer; as the driver noted, Shannan always had to be in control.

Hi, Mountain Kat. I can agree with nearly everything you say. To me, it sounds like Shannan was experiencing a drug-induced panic attack. Depending on the time of its onset, it might have ruined JB's idea of a fantasy get-together. It might well be a matter of haggling; him refusing to pay for the full two hours or her demanding for her additional time there.

As I mentioned before, I live on a East Village block that was once a popular spot for streetwalkers. Over the years, I heard more than one sex worker refusing to leave a vehicle because she hadn't been paid or paid properly. In most cases, drugs or intoxication seemed to be a factor.

Agreed. In fact, if there was a drug run that night, it's possible JB paid for the drugs and that became part of the payment issue. Hard to say. But I do believe there was a squabble over money. JMO, of course.

SBM - Thank you JustK!!! The story of this woman who was literally held hostage and forced into prostitution is just ridiculous! WTF??? I like to think that I have raised daughters who would NEVER, EVER put up with this chit. I can guarantee you I would not tolerate being "held captive" in some jerk's hovel and then have to give blow jobs to some creep and turn the money over to the a-hole that was holding me hostage! :furious::furious::furious: Someone would die!!! How DARE these people think they have the right to use these women like this! At the same time, I personally know people who lack self-esteem and a sense of empowerment, and I can see this stuff happening to them. For them, I try to be a friend and give them options. If I EVER saw something like this happening in the life of one of my friends, I would go down fighting for them. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. I want the Long Island SK found.... real bad....

The New York Post says police are reviewing the death of 39-year-old Tanya Rush, of Brooklyn. The mother of three was found dismembered in a suitcase along the Southern State Parkway in Bellmore in 2008.

2008 is a "missing year" in the group we have thus far. Tanya's death would fit into the picture, so why is it just now being considered? This case has really been "going on" since SG went missing, and that is over a year now. The time lag on investigating what happend to Shannon (which remains unsolved), and on the identification of remains is bothersome to me.
