Hi, Cluciano63. I agree; with the number of CSi-style crime dramas crowding the air, it is a bit surprising. But most of these misfits live more for their macabre pleasure than for careful planning.

On a side question, has it been established that the serial killer used any of his victim's phones?

Yes:

A series of taunting phone calls made to the teenage sister of one of the victims — calls that the police suspect came from the killer — ...

And

Concerned, the Barthelemys pleaded with the New York police to help find her.

Then Amanda began to receive calls, about one each week, from her missing sister’s cellphone.

To be fair. I did not post a link to this on the thread.

It is the biological sister not the wife, and the sister claims she owns the store in her own words after someone served minors.

I stand by what I said. If you want to know who owns a piece of property, you need to do a Title Search at County Records, and it's only going to be relevant on the date of the report is issued. Whoever owns it on the date of the report could sell it next day without you knowing.

Online sleuthing can give you an indication of likely ownership, and there's nothing wrong with that, so maybe the sister owns part of it, the husband owns the other half and the wife has a piece of the husband's piece by virtue of it being marital property. That's fine by me, however you want to cut it is fine by me, because I don't think it has much relevance to catching a serial killer, but be aware that whatever you say here based on an online link, it's not a FACT.

Child-slay shock
Tot's body in LI serial killer's graveyard

By LARRY CELONA, SELIM ALGAR and BOB FREDERICKS

" . . . One of the four sets of remains recently found on a remote Long Island beach belongs to a baby or a child -- not a grown woman, a law-enforcement source told The Post.

"One doesn't match the others. It's a young person, possibly as young as an infant, or a child," said the source, who is familiar with the investigation.

"If that's the case, then that wouldn't fit the pattern," the source added, suggesting that the victim may not be related to the other murders, believed to be the work of a serial killer. . . ."

The idea that the killer may be involved with law enforcement in some manner came about due to the murderer appearing to have an understanding of investigative techniques, according to those involved with the case . . . .

This article although sensationalized talks with folks across the bridge in Babylon. One patron mentions how the cops sit on the bridge looking for drunk drivers. Hmmmmmmmm. The murderer wouldn't bring the bodies back across the bridge with the cops sitting there.

If they truly think these murders are connected to the women in AC then that guy who was interviewed mentioned the last vehicle he saw Kim Raffo get in. Again, hmmmmmmmm.

Special thanks for all your hard sleuthing, Scandi.

BTW, just speechless about a baby being buried on a beach.

With Shovels and Shears, Police Plod Through a Hiding Place for Bodies

Snippet
"JONES BEACH ISLAND, N.Y. — Thickets of bayberries, reeds and a type of vine called sea tomatoes crisscross the dunes off the northern edge of Ocean Parkway. Sowed early in the last century to accompany the Robert Moses-inspired roadway, the plants have grown into a greenish wall to shroud this barrier island and its mysteries.

In this vegetative landscape, much has vanished or found refuge: decades’ worth of boating detritus; the scurrying breeds of rare species, like the piping plover; and as demonstrated in recent weeks, the bodies of eight human beings so decomposed that they suggest that the coastal terrain has served as a secret burial ground for years. . . ."

Thanks Filly, The baby, what a shock. Maybe we'll learn more about forensic details this week. ;}

I could be totally confused now, but I believe that Shannan's driver=Shannan's boyfriend=Shannan's pimp. I've read it more than once in the MSM:

The boyfriend, who was also her pimp, had driven Gilbert to Fire Island to hook up with a client Gilbert met on Craigslist, police said.

...was last seen by her boyfriend at about 6 a.m. May 1 running down a residential street in Oak Beach, N.Y., which lies to just to the west of Fire Island, police said.

http://projectjason.org/forums/index.php?topic=10497.0

"She was a prostitute working off Craigslist and accompanied by a pimp. We located the pimp originally, spoke to him and got some information from him. It's still all part of this investigation," Dormer said.

http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/bodies-long-island-beach-serial-killer-loose/story?id=12399090

Gilbert, who police describe as a prostitute, had arranged to meet a client on Fire Island and drove there with her boyfriend.

The boyfriend, who police believe was also her pimp
, told cops he last saw her on May 1 at 6 a.m.

Were those early articles? Because I know I've read many that clearly stated he wasn't her pimp, and i"m pretty sure the police and the family stated that in some of them. I know I read very specifically that she worked for herself and I think the sister said that too.

Why can't I find the article where this Papa Joe said he held the door to his luncheonette for Kim Raffo and saw her get in the vehicle with out of state plates? He said it was a black something and I now can not find that. I will though.

Looking I did find this old article from one of our lil Philly papers. It's a good read to get the idea just how bad it is out there for these poor women. Warning Papa Joe there curses alot.

The article talks about them being concerned about over-time costs for the police.....!!!!! Are you joking?!!! This is not the time to penny pinch, guys!

Yeah, those are all very early reports - they weren't even being specific yet about the address on the Fairway -so the details aren't all correct or specific. The driver wasn't her pimp. Not all prostitutes have pimps. i know I saw an article in which it said she hired the driver herself after deciding to go out on her own after working for an agency. (I'll try to find it amongst the bazillion others...!)

omg how dare they compare this sk to dexter! dexter has morals and he wouldn't kill innocent girls.
there's no blood spatter in these cases, they haven't found the primary crime scene.

in this link, the video in the top, if you start at 56 secs into the video, you will notice le moving what looks to be a rotted burlap sack, this is the 2nd search. so i am thinking both sets of 4 in li have been with burlap.
From the New York Times link above:

"When the remains were found, the first four sets were wrapped in burlap bags".

I do trust the NYT with their info. IMO

alex diaz was sg's bf. he was different than the driver.
not sure if he was also her pimp or not.
somes articles says that her bf who is allegedly her pimp (allegedly isn't a certainty)
earlier articles are all messed up claiming sg's bf/pimp drove her which we know isn't true.
this earlier article states that sg and diaz lived together in an aprt until she went missing. at some point diaz moved out. probably couldn't afford the rent without shannon. my guess is her bf was her pimp.

http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2010/12/missing_jersey_city_woman_shan.html

if diaz was her pimp, how did they get the money to hire a driver? i mean i know these girls are extremely costly, yet diaz either couldn't keep up on the rent or something as he moved out of their old apartment.

a lot of papers can't be trusted. however it's not mentioned in the article, you have to watch the video.
it's the newer one they are using the hook and ladders in it as well.

the papers will print whatever le tells them to, whether it's a plant or not.
also they seem to get a ton of facts confused.

the video is why i linked that. go in 49,56 secs and you see a cop lifting what looks to be like a piece of decomposed burlap. i assume this to be the new video of the last 4 found as they are using hook and ladders.
