Father pleads not guilty to dumping baby into the East River - NY Daily News

A Bronx man pleaded not guilty Thursday to hurling his infant son into the East River.

James Currie, 37, was arraigned in Manhattan Supreme Court on charges he hid his 7-month-old son Mason Saldana’s body and tampered with evidence.


Detectives believe Currie murdered the baby boy in his Bronx apartment then left with the corpse in a backpack before dropping it in the river on Aug. 5, authorities said.

Manhattan DA: Locked Phones Continue to Thwart Criminal Probes


One case where prosecutors believe a locked device holds crucial evidence is that of a 7-month-old baby found dead in the East River in August. The baby’s father, James Currie, was arrested and charged with concealment of a corpse. Prosecutors tried to access the father’s device but failed. They believe the evidence within could establish the time and manner of the baby’s death and lead to homicide charges.

A lawyer for Mr. Currie, who has pleaded not guilty, didn’t respond to a request for comment.

Why?? Why not just drop the baby at Mom's and THEN leave town?? I wonder if something happened at Dad's and the baby was no longer living when he was thrown in the water.

because he did it to hurt mom.
