This morning I was looking at one of the FB posts and someone replied to a comment, saying something to do with the FBI and right as I was going to click it, poof it disappeared..

You're asking one of the most important questions, IMO. At this point, we need some big clues to help the sheriff figure this out. (He may not know the people on this forum are brilliant.)

I admit, without confirmed facts, I'm desperately coming up with any scenario I can imagine. I searched and found several stores still open at 9 p.m. or later around there.

Why would it hurt the search or investigation to know if she purchased something and if it was still in her car? I'm under the impression she disappeared immediately upon arriving at the campsite, but we haven't been supplied with enough info to support that, IMO.

Thanks, Curious! I, too, was looking for stores in the area and have been driving the route she would have likely taken. (Just on Google maps!) But, when driving on Hwy 30 I realized that Hernandez Rd doesn't seem to intersect with the 30 until you get almost in the town of Wells itself because it dead ends. Looks like you would have to cut across on the 5 to River Rd and then on Hernandez. What businesses did you find? In a small town like Wells, probably not too many open at that time of night. Good catch on finding the ones that stay open until 9 pm.

Why is no one wondering if she fell in the water? Obviously it is a possibility or there would've have been no need for divers. It could be a tragic accident, nothing more.

Loved the video. Thanks. What a beautiful area! Further into the video, I got to watch the parade and see the fireworks. All that land, water, trees...is Rachael out there?

The Lakeside General Store is open until 9 p.m. I think there may be a Price Chopper open 24 hrs. There's probably some gas station convenience stores too.

As I stated yesterday morning, LE needs to hold a press conference and state the facts. Saying she was going for a hike versus doors left open, car running, etc., would definitely lead to different search areas! At least some of them, I would think. That's not to say it's impossible for her to be going for a hike and then be abducted, but it seems less likely. As far as the suicide topic...ehh... I'm not sure I'm ready to subscribe to that theory just yet. But I will say that if that is the case, it seems likely that they will find her.

IMO. And as an aside -- this timeline needs to be adjusted if this hike text did happen. There's no way she'd be going for a hike at 9:15-9:30 at night! So either she texted that to her parents and then was seen in the town of Wells during this time frame and somehow her car still got back to her house OR she was seen in Wells at 9:15-9:30, drove her car back to her house, and then texted her parents the next morning. No way she'd hike in the dark. IMO.

$2000 reward now offered. Do you often see rewards in missing hikers cases? One more point that makes me believe she was *not* going for a hike. It is strange that her uncle commented on the area being well-explored but with no hiking trails. Why would he say that if he didn't believe the authenticity of that text?

I did not entertain this idea until they've now brought forth the information she sent a text to her parents saying she was going hiking. This could be a strong possibility if this text really happened. If this text did not happen, then I don't believe it all possible she would have fallen into the river. Sure, the house is close to the river, but not THAT close...it's not like she has to go near the river to get from her car to her house. I cannot think of any reason she would be next to the river and also leave her car and camper doors open though.

True. I didn't think of that. By all early accounts her last text to her mom was that she was at the bottom of the hill, goodnight, and she loved her. I wish they would clarify!

I did read an article that said a neighbor did not see a car "other than the one Rachael was driving" to raise suspicions. Do we think this is the witness who saw her around 9:15-9:30? Maybe they saw her car coming up the street and glanced up, noticed it was her, and then thought nothing more of it because it was a car they recognized.

So, two totally conflicting stories. The first was that on the 22nd she had dinner with her folks, drove to Wells, was seen in town approx 915, and called mom from entrance to property stating that she was home.

Now this article says on the 22nd she texted mom ( I never trust texts) she was going hiking. When? at night? Makes no sense.

And either scenario, dad shows up on Friday, and if earlier accounts are true, doors are left open and "something" is possibly"missing". And allegedly the car had been left "on" and had run out if gas.

Well crap, how did we get two totally different accounts? We need a press conference please. This little lady is either injured in the woods (or worse) or someone abducted her (or worse). Either way, this is grave.

So depressing to read the sheriff's statement. I'm totally frustrated trying to figure out how this beautiful young woman disappeared. Her parents and friends are frantic to find her. Her mother seems to think she was abducted.



If someone was on foot and dragged her to another camp, I'd think dogs would've tracked her. If someone followed her in a car or ATV, I'd think she would've noticed, but that's still a possibility. I feel it's important the Sheriff hold a formal press conference soon and share every bit of info and answer questions. Show the location of the camper. People want to help, but need the facts confirmed. DON'T GIVE UP!

Sometimes LE will hold back facts to protect the victim. IF they found something not looking right for Rachael they might chose not to disclose that hoping she would be found soon.

If it's true she WAS going for a walk in the moonlite than that could indicate suicide. But surely the mother receiving that news and that call would know something was not right.

I think what we have with this case is a lot of bad reporting of facts and non fact and also a post from a FB blogger that may or may not be true about the car door being left open.

I can't imagine why this sheriff would not make a clear statement of facts unless..Rachael would look bad, facts indicate a suicide or maybe this is the sheriff's first case and he/she's in over their head.

BTW are they getting any County, State or FBI help with this one or is it just Andy and Barney Fife?

Also I watched the video of the town and parade but does anybody happen to have a picture of the actual place she was staying? I did not realize it was by the water. I always thought it was up in the hills.

I don't know anything about the neighbor but I assume they have been checked out and if so I would think they are a little uneasy until there are answers of what happened to Rachael.
