It just seems like there has to be something that isn't being said about the rescuers (b/c LE didn't want to give away what all they knew) that isn't going to be like "ah ha!" and we get another piece of it all.

If the rescuers aren't a "plant" or else somehow either some of the eyewitnesses (and possibly an earlier 911 call as well - I know that's not been released, but I wouldn't be shocked if there is an earlier one) then the only other thing I see as possible is that the 20 minute 911 call delay is because she waited to "capsize" herself until she saw a boat coming close enough she could ensure she wouldn't die as well.

I get the feeling that Graswald has been less than upfront with her own attorney in many aspects. He announced early on that she did not stand to gain any financial benefits. I wouldn't be surprised if they part ways.

Ironic, no?

She was a Chatty Cathy with investigators to a degree that definitely gave them a lot of assistance, even with her not being truthful all of the time and definitely not being consistent in what she was saying.

Then when she should at least be doing some to help herself by talking with her attorney it seems she's turned into a bit of a Clammed-up Claire (or something - can't come up with a better alliteration 'name' wise! LOL)

Just to give a feel on what the Hudson River environment is like and how difficult it would be to find a body under the surface of the water:

"The entire 154 miles of the lower Hudson River is tidal and can undergo a reversal in the direction of flow four times a day. ... The lower Hudson river is maintained at a depth of at least 32 feet for commercial traffic from the Port of Albany to New York City, but is as deep as 200 feet in places."

Sheesh :what:

Then you think about how long it took them (all things considered) to find Sarah Majoras two years ago (can't believe it's been that long already!)

In that case they pretty much knew exactly where she was last seen / went missing, and it was a small canal, not the massive (comparatively) Hudson, and it also had obstructions that wouldn't have allowed her to move very far (so it was also a very small area).

And it still took about 4 days for them to find her!

I'm still stuck on the fact that the police keep saying it was an ELABORATE ruse. (Sorry for the caps. Don't know how else to emphasize on my phone :) I think the most important evidence hasn't yet been revealed. I also think there are witnesses that can disprove her story. There must also be a reason the police have made it known locally and had established a road stop to hand out flyers that they want to see the body.

is that the 20 minute 911 call delay is because she waited to "capsize" herself until she saw a boat coming close enough she could ensure she wouldn't die as well.

^^^this I definitely think happened. As I've stated before, this is our Striper season in the Hudson Valley, a time when Striped Bass come up the river to spawn in large concentrations. Several previous fishing records were set around Newburgh. It is a VERY popular fishing spot this time of year---people often travel to fish here this time of year and charters are available.

Parts of the story I'm still stuck on are: the life vests (and/or lack thereof) and the tampering of the kayak ( which I think is part of the ruse.). JMHO.

Could she have weighted down his kayak (perhaps doing so while he was unaware on the island) with something (no clue what) that he would somehow be unlikely to notice until they got too far out in the water for it to be that apparent (so it either getting worse with time or maybe even taking on water once he got further out there)?

And then once he fell out or it rolled and capsized or whatever, probably initially submerging him and likely partly submerging itself or even keeping him pressed down under it that the object/weight/whatever was something that could basically fall out or loosen itself once rolled and Vincent's personal weight wasn't also adding to the kayak doing what it was?

Then once that weighted whatever fell out, it allowed the kayak to return to the service?

(I know what I'm trying to say but I feel like it's not coming out right!)

Regarding the vest...I wonder if she "forgot" her life vest and Vinny let her borrow his.

I know there are at least witnesses saying they saw HER intentionally capsize being mentioned in other sources. I don't recall if they said they saw her capsize him.

Considering they saw her wait the length of time that she did prior to the 911 call, it seems like they'd almost certainly have seen her capsize him as well, I'd think.

BBM Do we know yet if any of the witnesses who were watching all of this play out called 911 themselves? Apologies if this has already been discussed, catching up.

ETA: Okay, from what I'm reading here I think it's not known yet about any 911 calls from witnesses. :)

I mentioned thinking that was a likely possibility (along with some of them actually potentially also having been the rescuers) just a few hours ago.

I don't think we've heard, but I think it's extremely likely.

Some eyewitness saw enough that it gave LE the 20 minute-ish 'clock' in her 911 call delay, so either they saw something that looked bad and didn't report it and only came forward after, or else they saw it and called 911 and/or went out to try to help themselves.

Thanks, TravelingBug. I'm eagerly anticipating her LE interviews! I hope there are no hand-stands involved...

Based on what we've been given so far by police and the media's interpretations, is it possible that the ELABORATE RUSE is that HE was simply never in his kayak that day? Could whatever happened taken place elsewhere? Could another person be involved, especially since she stood to gain financially?

Something about her smirk in the courtroom photos shown on the news is odd. It's almost like she's thinking--"nope that's not it. You'll never figure it out." JMHO.

Interesting idea!

That'd make a lot more sense than her perhaps finding a way to have his get damaged or go MIA on the island or something (since I find it hard to believe there wasn't one with him, even if he wasn't wearing it)

And no "O Holy Night" for NG to have yet another "theme song" for months on end!

Woke up for poor Vinny on mind this morning.

If you feel trapped in a relationship with a man who is supporting you, how about you just, I dunno... get a fricking JOB. Arg!

  • #556
for someone with two marriages under her belt I dont buy the "felt trapped" argument.........how will defense spin this?????? Possible statement that got lost in translation??

have the insurance policies been looked over? wondering how many there are, when they were signed and if signatures are valid......

OT---thinking of an old movie with Gene Tierney and Cornell Wilde (I think)....he is a writer and she is a psychopath....she kills his little brother while the little boy is swimming in a cold lake...she is in a row boat and submerges him with an oar when he tires and cant swim any further

I can't stop thinking about VV's last moments. If she, in fact, sat in her kayak and watched him fight for his last breaths and then drown. There is a very special place in hell (front and center) for her kind.

...and to say she felt relief and pleasure. WTF?

I think the witnesses are the couple with the telescope. If they saw the images of a male and female on the island 'push off", I would assume they followed them closely.

Aren't the telescope witnesses, or at least the gentlemen, the same guy that said that no one is allowed to be on the island?

As far as the boater, I think what AG did was wait it out and watch him die, called 911, then saw a boat approach, and fell into the water. If I remeber correctly, she was picked up close to the yacht club.

As far as her confession, I do not believe she came out and told LE she killed him, but perhaps those confessions came out of her diary??

I am trying to understand the circumstances under which she was arrested several weeks ago. IIRC she was on the island placing flowers at the same time LE was there conducting the investigation. Did she accompany them there during questioning? Did she say hey as long as we going over there I would like to take some flowers? Or is the flower detail inaccurate?

Also, did they arrest her on the spot after she made her "inconsistent" statements? I always pictured them arresting her later. But if she indeed made those damning statements ("relief and pleasure") while talking to them on the island, I would imagine they would arrest her right there, or at least have her come back with them to the station to formally arrest her? None of these details probably matter in the long run, but I like to have enough details to picture in my mind how it all went down. I have searched and can't find if any of these have been disclosed yet. Do we know any of these details yet?
