The relatives of children discovered dead in two separate suitcases that was bought at storage auction have been found living in Asia by police.

New Zealand police said it is also expanding their homicide probe after a family from Auckland made the shocking discovery of human remains when they brought their locker home.

They bought the unit's contents which is said to have included 'prams, toys, and a walker' on August 11.

I don't think any person who would keep bodies in a storage unit, would willingly lose possession of them, unless something had happened to them.
Maybe they thought there was nothing connecting them to the bodies. In that case I could see someone just leaving their "stuff" there.

Maybe they got a years long headstart by leaving the country.
Maybe they've died.

Maybe they couldn't afford the storage fees, but you'd think they'd do something to retrieve their "goods" if they thought there was a chance it could lead back to them.

I have a feeling that LE know who the children are.

South Korean police say they believe a possible relative of two children whose bodies were found in suitcases in New Zealand last week is likely in South Korea.

Immigration records show that the unidentified woman in her 40s arrived in South Korea in 2018, but there has been no record of her departure since, said Park Seung-hoon, an official at the National Police Agency in Seoul.

Park said South Korean police have conveyed the information to New Zealand police after receiving a request for investigative help. But South Korean police currently have no authority to track down the woman’s whereabouts or detain her as she remains a New Zealand citizen possibly linked to a crime that had happened in New Zealand, Park said.

It would be difficult for South Korean police to pursue her unless New Zealand officially requests for her extradition, which may happen if the investigation proceeds to a point where Interpol places a red notice against her, Park said.

Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua previously said initial post-mortem examinations revealed the children were between five and 10 years old.

In a statement today, Vaaelua confirmed the identification process has been completed.

However, he said the Coroner had issued an interim non-publication order which suppressed the evidence of the identities of the children at the request of their family.

“This order suppresses the names of the children and their relatives and evidence that may lead to the identification of the two victims.
