MADISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A dog discovered a human skull Monday afternoon in a wooded area in Madison Township.
The dog brought the skull back to its home just after 2 p.m. on Bennett Road, near U.S. State Route 20. The homeowner called police, Madison Township Police Chief Matthew Byers said.
Police used cadaver dogs to search the wooded are until nightfall Monday. The dogs did not uncover any additional remains. Officials returned Tuesday morning and located what appears to be the rest of the body near Bennett and Duck roads.
Byers said the remains appear to belong to an adult, but investigators have not said whether the remains are that of a man or a woman. He noted that there were no outward signs of foul play, but it could take investigators weeks or months to uncover any additional details about the remains.
