How can the defense say that there was no dna found in blood from the baby when the blood DNA results have not even been introduced yet?

A text message Brooke Skylar Richardson sent to her mother after she allegedly delivered and then killed her baby in 2017 was highlighted in opening statements in her trial Wednesday.

Assistant Warren County Prosecutor Steven Knippen told the jury that Richardson sent her mother a text that said, “I am literally speechless with how happy I am my belly is back OMG,” just hours after she is accused of having her baby in secret in her Carlisle home and burying her in the backyard in May 2017.

“Those are the words that Brooke Richardson texted to her mother just hours after she murdered her infant daughter in the middle of the night and buried her lifeless body in the dirt behind their home,” Knippen said.

...

But the defense told jurors that Richardson has suffered from an eating disorder for years and thought she had more time to tell her mother about the pregnancy. She buried her stillborn baby rather than throw the body in the trash, defense attorney Charles M. Rittgers said.

“They (the prosecution) suggest Skylar hid her pregnancy because she was evil,” Rittgers said during opening statements. “Skylar is a gentle, kind, loving individual.”

IDK what if she was placed on a towel or something? I know it isn't the same as humans but I've delivered several farm animals and they're torsos were completely surrounded by the amniotic sac.

If I were on the jury, I am not sure I could give much credence to anything the coroner reported.

I looked up Umbilical Cord being detached and found this article. It is very rare for it to happen. I looked it up because the Defense keeps bringing it up.

A Rupture of Umbilical Cord can occur either partially or completely. A complete rupture is a rare condition, which can be life-threatening to the fetus or newborn.

What are the other Names for this Condition? (Also known as/Synonyms)
  • Complete Umbilical Cord Rupture
  • Partial Umbilical Cord Rupture
  • Umbilical Cord Rupture

Sooo...correct me...really...if I have misunderstood any of this.

The Drs office mistakenly sends the Mother info indicating her daughter is pregnant. Daughter denies. Mom believes daughter over the Drs office. Mom believes weight gain is just due to eating.

But the day after the birth, Richardson texted her Mother that “OMG, so happy my belly is back!”

How did Mom believe that a big protruding belly due to weight gain could disappear overnight? No woman who has ever dieted is EVER going to believe that explanation.

how is the defense going to get around a mother not knowing if she doesn't invest in the baby's prenatal care that she won't have a healthy baby? If she didn't show care for the health of the baby prior to birth, why would she show care afterwards?

Also the investigators Behavior holding the hand of Skylar only seems to be manipulative if she's neurodivergent. Is there any indication she is neurodivergent? Did she have means, motive, and opportunity to kill her baby after birth? I've seen the Brendan dassey interviews in the making of a murder case and I know that he was a kid that was neurodivergent and so the investigators tactics were particularly unethical. But in this case, did she have learning disabilities?

The mom is complicit, in my opinion. It's neglect from the mom to not have noticed, and to deny doctors results. It's more likely to me that the mom encouraged her daughter to do what she did by asking to be left out of it. willfully using cognitive dissonance to pretend her daughter wasn't pregnant while knowing full well that she was.

In other words, I think the parents should be arrested, not the daughter. If they loved and supported her they would have loved and supported her whether or not she was pregnant. The daughter was a victim of neglect from her parents, which is a form of abuse, and abused daughter maybe went on to kill a baby because she wasn't ready to navigate life on her own, and she was realizing her parents were cruel not to support her or to encourage her honesty.

But they really shouldn't blame bulimia as of cause behind murdering a baby. I know plenty of bulimics that never killed a baby. And I think whether or not the baby was born stillborn, denying its existence and denying care for it during pregnancy is contributory homicide... although I don't know the strict definition of that charge.

The parents were the adults here. She may have been barely an adult especially if she was a kid when she became pregnant. By our legal definitions. Charge the adults here. Let Skyler go and charge the parents for lying under oath, call it a wrap and go home

Skylar is the only one charged

She was 18 when she gave birth. Plenty old enough to know better
