Dr. White says he also disagrees with the prosecution expert Dr. Brady, that Skylar was not suffering for nutrition deficiency when she was told about her pregnancy in April 2017. Blood work shows she was.
@journalnews

Dr. White says Richardson was less the pre-preganacy weight 10 weeks after the birth, which is abnormal
@journalnews

Hearing a heartbeat of the baby in April 2017 simply means the baby was alive at that point, Dr. White said. The prosecution's witness Dr. Brady indicated it was a site of a normal baby
@journalnews

No matter how many other witnesses the state did and can bring on to counter this, it clearly enables reasonable doubt. And if there is doubt the baby was born alive, murder is gone, manslaughter is gone, child endangerment is gone. And tampering is already gone.

This girl is going to walk.

But unless she were a witness for the defense, I don’t think they can call her. They can totally cross examine, but since they’ve rested, they can’t call new witnesses.

Yeah they can. They can call rebuttal witnesses.

Do you really think that is likely? Not even something for the tampering or child endangerment? Smh

Gitana, is it just me or does the prosecution seem to be asleep at the switch here?

Not if the sole reason you're going through all of this alone is because you're terrified to tell them.

Panic and being intent on keeping a secret due to being terrified of one's parents' reaction are two totally different things. We see Skylar reach out to her mom at a crisis moment. If she was panicked about the status of the baby or giving birth he would've called for help. Even to her horror of a mother.

I think she was deeply fearful of disappointing mommy as are most neonaticidal women. But nothing suggests panic at the actual birth or status of her child. She was quiet and controlled. Instead of asking anyone for help she cleaned herself and everything up and buried the body.

I just think Skylar lucked out because the body was found too late to determine COD.

I don't disagree with the Reid technique of investigation. Think of the Christopher Watts case.

Yet following that, law enforcement must must must have corroborating evidence or else I agree, that technique can lead to false confessions.

That is why on so many of the true crime retrospective TV channels that most of us follow here, we see DA/ law enforcement never accept an admission of guilt without having other proof.

ETA, makes me think of some characters in some of the shows that I follow. How there is Reid in the show Criminal Minds. Radar, etc.

If false testimony experts are allowed in Ohio courts why exactly was this one so greatly limited by the judge today?

Does a supportive mother tell her daughter her life will be "over" if she has an unplanned baby? Does she mention anything about the possibility of marriage or mention a father aiding at all? No, she tells her no college and you will have to work and care for your baby - no, not so supportive at all. Oh, you bet Skylar was afraid of what her mother thought.

Or adoption?

I believe Skylar is a liar and manipulative. I believe she learned it from her mother. Who she is scared of. One can be both.

Does anyone think Skyler's parents really know what happened that night?

Judge ruled yesterday that prosecution did not meet burden of proof for the "tampering with evidence" charge so it's gone, off the table!

If reasonable doubt on murder-- where jury accepts still born baby, there goes child endangerment. (I believed this charge could be applicable for not following up with prenatal care after pregnancy confirmed by doctor but another poster said these charges can't apply to unborn child).

Leaves only desecration of corpse for dropping baby in pit like a tulip bulb and she could probably get probation for this and/or a short sentence....

Her mother didn't suggest adoption, she made it clear if she had a baby it was all on her shoulders alone. Yeah, no parent would look forward to a teenager having a baby but most teenagers don't have text convos like Kim did with Skylar, those just made me shudder.

I wondered the same thing. And thought it was interesting the defense had given him psych reports on Skylar, including one stating that Skylar was (atypically) susceptible to suggestion. Not sure why all that info was ruled inadmissible, but maybe I missed the judge explaining his reasoning.

I think dad sincere about not knowing, but don't believe for a minute that mom didn't know when baby bump gone overnight, and BSR down to 120+ pounds in a couple weeks.

Mom was also too quiet during interrogation video, and I think it's because she didn't want to talk in front of her husband (he believed Kim that she didn't know either). MOO
