Vasports I hope you are right.
So I was thinking about ' issues' and wondering if baby was a little grumpy and not sleeping well, which is not an " ISSUE" at all but more is a product of her environment. If mom's crashing in house after house and Elaina's not got her bedtime routine and her bed that shes' used to that would cause her to have fitful sleeps . Babies are extremely schedule / routine oriented. If she's expected to sleep 'like a baby' in any ole house , in any ole bed at any ole time of day, of course that won't work out and someone not paying attention or unaware of her needs could look at her and think shes' having issues or acting out, etc.

I have been wondering if the crying that the bf's mom heard earlier that day was the impetus for Elaina's death. Perhaps Angela was afraid that she would be thrown out if the baby was noisy or she feared that the crying would clue the mom in that she was being "rough" again so she attempted to quieten the baby by putting something over her mouth or overdosed her trying to make her sleep.

Hmm " You can stay here one night but I better not hear that baby crying '' ? mooo

Gotta remember that this is the same woman that pretty much told Angela to abuse her babies elsewhere so it wouldn't shock me.

Oh my, I just wondered if the reason she said go elsewhere with the kids is not because she was abusing them but because they CRIED when they were abused and she didn't want to hear the crying :( That's awful. Surely not.

Ferretmommy indicated in a previous post that Baby Elaina was on oral medication for thrush. As a mom/foster mom of 5 and an aunt to many, I have had some experience with thrush and I'm puzzled that Elaina wasn't heard more than what the adults in the house are saying, especially since she wasn't feeling well. I could understand a baby 'napping' that long with a fever or if she was given medication for pain.

Was the medicine for thrush prescribed or OTC? Did anyone mention seeing the baby at feeding time or being fed? Breakfast? Lunch? IMO, a 17month old should be eating solids. From my own experience; even babies that have thrush get hungry...and then fussy because it hurts to eat. I'm still inclined to believe that 'mom' knows exactly what happened to the baby whether she shook her too hard :banghead:, gave her too much meds :banghead: or used some other method to quiet her :banghead:, or allowed someone else to do something that hurt her :stormingmad:.

Of course, this is all my very own opinion. Praying for Elaina's safe return :please::please::please:

Safe travels vasportsmom.

AuntB , I've only rarely even heard of humans with thrush. How would a baby get it? Is it serious? Is it painful ? TIA

If one is so nonchalant about child abuse that their only reaction is tell the abuser to take it elsewhere then I have to assume that they had very egocentric reasons for making that particular request. I figure that either she didn't want to hear the "results" or she didn't want to be charged for allowing it to happen.

My youngest had it really often when he was a baby (till about age 4 when his tonsils were removed). He had constant strep infections and every time he was given an antibiotic he ended up with thrush. It isn't serious but it made him extremely cranky. He wouldn't feel like eating but then would cry because he was hungry. It was miserable and heartbreaking.

ETA: B's thrush was always accompanied by a yeast infection in the diaper area which made things even worse. It is pretty common that they happen together, especially if an antibiotic is the root cause.

Sad to see that baby Elaina still hasn't been found. Praying that today is the day that we find this sweet little girl unharmed. Someone knows something and they need to speak up.

I am so sick of these mothers who hurt their children and no one does anything to help the child. Something needs to be done to protect these innocent babies.

Annoying and it can be painful. Most people get it at some stage, some women even get it once a month. People who are immunocompromised or have diabetes get it quiet often. You can get it anywhere, mouth, feet, nipples, vagina, skin folds etc. out of my 4 kids only two have ever had it, once presented as nappy rash, the other was in his mouth (and of course my nipples thanks to that little mouth!). Before I had my breast reduction done the surgeon told me that a lot of women get it done because of thrush under them. I knew an obese man who always had thrush under his tummy folds. My doctor told me the other day that a lot of women only discover they have thrush during a pap smear and it only needs to be treated if its annoying.

It's very easy to treat though, or usually is. It could have caused The baby pain, but it shouldn't have been extreme pain if treatment had started. My baby that had oral thrush had no pain at all, we only discovered it because I was insanely itchy. The one of bum thrush was red raw and in pain though, but the pain went long before the redness.

Eta: yes, antibiotics too. I don't know if its the same there, but here as soon as you pick up antibiotics you are offered probiotics to prevent thrush. I never take them though.

Thanks! We are in Charlotte now but have a ways to go before we get to Walterboro, SC. My husband is still driving and I'm hoping that his strong dislike of my insistence of driving exactly the speed limit means that he will stay at the wheel both ways. I want to be able to stay connected to WS and I know I will be crying my eyes out once I have to tell my mom bye.

I hate this! We know they aren't searching a field and a river for an alive child but I don't want to think about her as anything but alive and hidden.

I am heartsick over this sweet little girl :( Little girls are so special, with their soft cheeks and cheeky giggles and Elaina reminds me so much of my younger daughter. I am just sick at the thought that some 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 may have taken her life. This is not right! This is not fair on all of these wee children, who are let down and mistreated, time and time again :(

Please, PLEASE be ok honey <3

http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/tc/thrush-cause

Infants are more prone to thrush because an infant's immune system is not fully developed.

In otherwise healthy toddlers and older children, thrush is usually not contagious. But a child with a weakened immune system may get thrush by sharing infected toys or pacifiers with a child who has the infection. A child who has thrush spreads the thrush yeast onto anything the child puts in his or her mouth. Another child may then get thrush by putting a contaminated object into his or her mouth.

Our pediatrician also had us to wash all objects that the baby had come in contact with in hot, soapy water.

No offense ... But I am really pissed off. I am pissed off because so called mothers like Angela do not take care of their babies!!! No one should willinging have a baby on this earth unless they are prepared to treat their baby with unconditional love, care, tenderness, kindness, respect, gentleness and know in their heart they would do anything to make their baby feel protected and safe at all times. A mother is meant to protect their baby from harm! AS failed!!! She has hurt her little babies.

Elaina was not abducted!!! Definitely not from a stranger! (Zero motive in this neighbourhood). Her mother never treated her well and whether the father created an elaborate plan to kidnap her to keep her from harms way, at this point I would only commend his family. No parent should EVER be abusing a 17 month old defenseless baby, this is sickening!!! AS made a very horrific mistake - she needs to provide more answers. There is just nothing pointing to a random abduction! Because God knows, 17 months old doesn't go walkabouts on their own without being found! IMO
