Of those 1400 people the parole board released at the time they released this guy, how many are serial killers?

He was locked up in solitary confinement 21 times in 5 years. What part of that don't they understand? He was a murder waiting to happen.

This is so outrageous! I'm reminded of the recent smug comment regarding the probation and not prison for the guy who raped his six year old grandaughter. The DA said he will be under strict monitoring....Hello?, it doesn't work!

I think anyone who believes these guys can be rehabilitated should never be a judge, probation officer, shrink, etc......They are simply too gullible and contribute to the problem, IMO.

Our wonderful system at work. This happens everyday and we HAVE to do something about it or it is going to get worse!!! We have got to be more firm on this subject treat it just like a murder case because they are scaring these babies for life so they should do like without parole!!!

Security Tight For Accused Killer After Threats
Associated Press
Published: March 1, 2010

CINCINNATI—A man accused of killing two teenage girls and two women is a danger in the courtroom, and extra security is being added for his trial, authorities said.

Anthony Kirkland, 41, has threatened to kill himself or commit some act that could force police to kill him, authorities said.

As jury selection resumes Monday, Judge Charles Kubicki Jr. has ordered Kirkland to wear an electronic stun belt in court that can be activated by sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies also removed a glass pane covering a table used by attorneys out of concern that Kirkland could break off some of it and stab someone.

For the same reason, Kirkland will not be allowed to have a pen or pencil during the trial. Instead, he will be given a small box of crayons for writing.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters, who is seeking the death penalty in the case, said he hopes Kirkland will give the victims’ families answers about what happened.

Deters has described Kirkland as a serial killer who “deserves nothing less than execution.“

What a shame that a 'man' so dangerous was ever allowed out on the streets!

Esme Kenney's Family Working To Protect Children

Kenney's family has been working in the year since her murder to put laws into place to help protect all of us from violent offenders starting with a change in how the Cincinnati police handles reports of missing children.

Esme's mother, Lisa Kenney, testified during Kirkland's trial Monday that responding officers didn't appear to take their report of their daughter missing seriously.

"As soon as they heard she was 13, they were like well, you know, have you talked to her friends. Maybe she's up at McDonald's. I'm like, no, she doesn't do that," Lisa told the jury.

Through the family's efforts, Cincinnati police have instituted a program called "Emergency Search for Missing and Endangered," or Esme.

Now on to the DP phase so his trip to hell can be expedited!

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100312/NEWS0107/303120007/Jury+convicts+Kirkland

Rest in peace Esme, Casonya, Kimya and Mary Jo. I will light a candle for each of you tonight. It horrifies me that the last eyes that you looked into were those of this monster.

If anything "good" can come of a murder it's that three other families were able to have answers to their missing/murdered loved ones. Esme's murder helped solve these three other cases. My thoughts and prayers are with all four families. This should never have happened- he should have been kept locked up after the original offense.
