I may not have been very clear in what I was trying to say. I wasn't talking about the red truck. I was referring to the truck JM had parked, I believe in DR's driveway and LE towed it away. LM was hopping mad that they took his son's truck (in an early interview right after the murders). IIRC, it wasn't registered properly. It jumped out at me at the time that LE would do that (to JM) when they were dealing with multiple homicides of his family members.
I'm wondering if JM is just the kind of guy that LE may have picked on in the past and perhaps he made a perfect scapegoat for the W's?
Here's a link to LM's interview that everyone has seen many times. He starts out very early talking about how LE impounded his son's truck.
All JMO
Yes, I agree, sorry for the misunderstanding. No doubt, IMO, the W's set up JM and BJM to be accused of the murders. BCI was also in panic mode that morning. They saw several dead family members, discovered by other family members and grow ops. Their first instinct was to arrest the two as it neatly fit into a typical profile for a family murder - MJ + money + jealousy & greed. They seized JM's truck probably to get evidence, prints, etc. and examine it for weapons, victim DNA, MJ, etc.
At the same time, the Manleys were in shock, dealing with terrible grief at the murder of their family. Just an awful situation all around, I feel so badly for what they went through.
I've no doubt, like others here, that JW probably planted evidence, including digital/hacking evidence, to incriminate the Manleys (and probably others) in the murders. It worked for a very long time.
It took more than a year to shake them from that theory and the W's were feeding those suspicions with false leads.
ETA: I'm still thinking about yr theory regarding the red truck - that JW may have put a mini digital camera on it and parked it somewhere around UHR and the crime scenes to monitor any traffic in the area during the murder spree.
Remember, news media also reported on discovery docs that JW or someone had rigged up a mini-cam on one of the Rhoden dogs. Was this done for the same reason - as a lookout while the killers were busy elsewhere?
