We'll have to wait and see what JW might have been able to work out in the terms of the plea agreement. If he gave up enough, might it be possible that he was able to secure for all 4 LWOP, not in gen pop?

The Judge can give a recommendation to the DOC (Department of Corrections)
about the security level he envisions, but the final decisions of the Wagners' imprisonment will only be up to the DOC.

The DOC will send the 4 Wagners (just a matter of time) to one of 3 Ohio Correctional Reception Centers where over a couple weeks time they will be completely evaluated as to the proper security level placement. Level 1 through 5. 5 is maximum security.

The only way to guarantee the Wagners don't get attacked is to keep them in protective custody away from other inmates. This type of segregation is different from the disciplinary segregation or "the hole" as it is sometimes called.

This is because even though they are isolated they still get privileges that those in "the hole" lose. They keep their privileges because they are there only for protection as opposed to rule infractions.

So the DOC will decide their level 1-5 and then decide if they are going to put them in general population or go straight to protective custody.

If in general population they had problems, they can at any time be put into protective custody. Any inmate who doesn't feel safe can request protective
custody.

Maybe I am being dense today, but how would removing phones of victims help the W's in any possible way? Especially to avoid detection as Canepa seems to say. Or did she word that badly?
Were W's texting and making phone calls from the victims phones?
So, whose phone would they use to text... who? And for what purpose?
I guess there are many possibilities.

Ohio has a moratorium on dp sentences currently. IMO, this is unlikely to change anytime soon.

ETA: I definitely think that if anyone deserves the death penalty, the 4 Ws do. However, I also am in favor of (likely) guaranteeing the life imprisonment of all 4 of them instead of long drawn-out trials and even a slim possibilty of lighter sentences for the other 3 if there had not been a plea agreement for Jake.

Isn't the moratorium on the executions specifically? I don't think there's a moratorium on the death penalty as a sentence, BICBW.

I don't think they were as tech savvy as they thought they were. No phone? No evidence of texts and calls that could be incriminating. So what. LE can call the carriers and get an order to download everything on the phones. I might be wrong but I think they planned and planned but had no idea about how much tech leaves a trail.

And this is probably the reason the Wagners were recorded all over the place and on their phones also. How could they not know about phones? They bought a phone jammer, they stole 2 phones......

They often said they were being recorded yet continued to be careless.

Reporters are lazy anymore. It makes me crazy!

This reporter states that the W's had hacked the FB accounts of some of the Rhodens. Canepa specifically said that the HMR messages to the other person that were screenshot on the laptop were acquired by the Wagner's because they had hacked the person HMR was talking to. Canepa does not identify who that person was. The only person that can be eliminated is HMR.

Then the reporter says that the W's were monitoring the Rhoden's in their homes with surveillance cameras! Are you kidding me with this? Trail cams and DVRs belonging to the R's are what was removed. At no point did I hear Canepa say that cameras were installed inside the Rhoden homes and the W's were monitoring the R's through them.

This is exactly why I typed out the specifics from Canepa's Statement of Facts. Rumors run rampant when there is lazy reporting. People believe reporters, and they should be able to do so; we rely on the press to report facts to us. But it didn't take a lot of effort to fact check this specific reporter and show that she didn't do her homework and doesn't know as much as she purports to know about this case.

So do I believe that JW said he "found God" as reported in this clip? Not really.

P.S. Cool Cats, none of what I said here is about you btw. It is about how reporters say things and we believe them. I wish they would take their work more seriously.

I do believe Jake's profession of faith. He responded in court like a completely different person. He was genuinely choked up and fighting back tears, particularly when pleading guilty to the murders of HMR and HG.

I believe it further when I considers how difficult it must have been for him to betray his family, a group that bad been so insular his entire life. Ultimately, the truth lies between Jake and God alone, but I do tend to believe him.

I agree. He appeared very sincere. His facial grimace was definitely trying not to cry. There were no smirks or smiles when the judge was speaking to him, as had been seen in the past.

This guy is almost 30 years old, and on 4/22/2021 it was the first time we've seen him actually act like a man. About dang time. JMO

This is going to sound very strange to most, but Jake himself may be better off away from his parents. (Although, I wish so much he'd have gotten away from his family via other means.) Even in prison though, he may be better off emotionally than he was with his nuclear (no pun intended) family. We don't know the ins and outs of their day-to-day life. Abuse begets abuse. I'd sure like to hear from the Wagner son who broke away from FW's family. I have to think there was a high degree of at least emotional abuse for generations.

The FBI was aiding the State of Ohio with investigation and evidence testing. They were not doing the investigation on a Federal level...

I think in a case of this magnitude, or anytime that the federal system is inclined to, that they could grant housing in their system if they wanted to, if the state signed off on it. JMO
