I can completely understand this and I have been in situations too where I didn't want to see something for what it was. I saw good and bad so I would let the bad slide and defend the person because there was some good. I've since went back to others I dismissed the concerns of over this other person and said, you were right, I saw it and I wanted to see the good.

I think it was just low of the defense to call them in the first place. They largely centered around how this family was 10+ years prior to the murders then barely touched on the recent years and the prosecution brought that stuff up. I am assuming the defense went over testimony with these witnesses first. They likely didn't ask anything about stuff they didn't want the honest answer too.. then the prosecution does ask. It seems the prosecution did tread lightly though maybe realizing the tough spot the witnesses are in. They all likely missed red flags and are now left feeling like wow. To be called as a defense witnesses leads some to believe that you support the person on trial and I didn't get that vibe from any of what we can see at least.
Exactly! I was very impressed with how the prosecution handled both witnesses. These two men did not "know" the Ws any longer. It seemed the Ws had tried to keep an opening with them b/c they wanted a foothold in AK, but no one was tossing free housing and assistance their way, just jobs. I bet G4 told them what good friends they were. It seems they are struggling to find any good, long-term, friendships.

Who's on the stand opting out? The lawyer? If so, you've gotta be kidding me.
Boy oh boy, the State of Ohio really needs to revisit this opting out thing.

WATCH: Pastor Kelly Cinereski, from the Wagners' church in Seward, Alaska, takes the stand in #GeorgeWagnerIV's defense case

Cinereski knew the Wagners in Ohio when he worked as a pastor and the Wagners attended his church in Alaska when they moved there. He said they met the Wagners in 2002, 2003

He met Fredericka, Billy, Angela, George and Jake. GW4 was still a young teen when he met him. Cinereski said they were very active in his church in Ohio. He said the Wagners worked hard. "Anything a church does, they were there.”

Wagners went through discipleship program for 16 weeks. He said Billy wanted to turn his life around and live a different life.

When asked about the differences between Jake and George: "In short, George was smart and Jake was trouble.”

Cinereski said he flew in from Alaska to perform the wedding ceremony between George and Tabi.

Quote:

"He said Billy wanted to turn his life around and live a different life."

What? Become a killer? This only shows how much of a good chance in life Billy had, all this support he had to take a law abiding way of life, working legit jobs, and stop being "Bad Billy."
Shows Billy was very aware of the different life paths he could have taken but very deliberately chose a destructive crime ridden murderous path in life.

This also shows George was exposed to good law abiding people outside of his family and that despite how
smart and helpful he could be, he very deliberately chose to become a criminal. Including mistreating his wife and keeping her away from their son, then eventually committing murders.

It "sets in stone" the Wagners knew the right way to handle problems and could have gotten advice and help from their pastor regarding any concerns over how S was treated etc....

When Angela said she thought there were physical signs of abuse, (inserting objects for bubble gum, redness, odors) she was asked why she didn't go to a doctor. She said she didn't know. I believe she said that because it wasn't true. I believe if it was true she would have broke the speed limit getting the child to a doctor so it could be medically documented. A doctor and a CPS's counselor, documenting abuse, is what would have helped Jake get custody.

To keep/help get custody, the Wagners were looking for "dirt" on the mothers through computer hacking and having people spy etc....The Wagner Crime Family was looking for abuse, so if it had been true that there was physical evidence of abuse (plus from what S said) they would have pounced on that like a hungry cheetah who hasn't eaten in 3 days and got it officially documented from doctors, counselors, CPS etc... This could have gotten Jake official joint custody, or something from court in writing regarding his parental rights etc....

The Wagners had no evidence of any abuse and even went so far as to accuse Frankie of being inappropriate for letting a not yet 2 year old kiss him on the lips and saying Chris Jr. was rough with her.

Jake admitted no abuse happened, only that it could happen if the wrong person were around his daughter, and he even said he didn't want to wait for it to happen, meaning nothing happened. Then he tried to make it sound like Hanna wasn't concerned about it.

So to save face in prison and with Fred, Angie and Jake are trying to use abuse as an excuse for murdering 8 people. No. Any signs of abuse they would have documented. They were the type of people who documented everything.

Hiring a custody lawyer who had a ton of files, saving countless screenshots from hacking Facebook messages, tub of important papers, fake custody documents, shoe receipt, plus saving:
Custody Messages - 1 Excel Sheet (519 entries) from Discovery.

It seemed his interactions were when they were much younger. Funny for being close friends they didn't make effort to go see them in Alaska. So his son was actually the pastor of the church the Wagner's went to and his guy pastors a church about 90 miles away, but was there preaching when Angela, Jake, the kids were there. Didn't sound like they made too much effort to reconnect with their old buddy.

Guilty of 8 murders, no surprise they avoided their old Pastor.

I took my kid to have an awful tatt covered up (nothing bad, just really poorly done at someone's home...yeah...I paid for that one myself!), and our artist just looked at it and said dude, shook his head, sketched up something and said, how about this? My kid said, sounds good, just get rid of that other one. His ex gf has his name on her privates. I think she ended up keeping hers, it was painful, I'm told. I truly didn't need to know that but she felt the need to tell me. All of my tatts have a distinct reason behind them and I had a hand in their design from the get go. I've been in the chair and seen younger folks just point to stuff. Makes no sense to me. Ya never know with folks.
Sometimes kiddos live and learn the hard way!

All of mine have meaning as well. I waited until 35 to get my first one.. then it went from shoulder to full sleeve in less than 6 months. I just knew what I wanted and didn't get one until I was 100% sure.

I do find it rather suspicious the one this tattoo artist happened to plan out or pick because George maybe said wing it, was so well symbolic of something he has nothing to do with. That tattoo artist is just THAT good I suppose.

The first day there are no dances to honor the life of Elder Brother so I get to stay home in bed and watch trial, and all the witnesses opt out. Wow.

@Cool Cats your post reminded me of something. Jake said his dad taught him to pick locks about 10 or 11.. well if I figured that right, if the pastor and his family knew the W's about 2000-2006 in Ohio, then Jake would have been what 8-13 or so then? So during the time Billy was changing his life around, was the time when he was showing his boys the criminal ways?

Ohioans have now paid for three round trip tickets for those Alaska pastors to testify. Defense is grabbing flying straws.

Now that we are on a break, I can tell you about the testimony of those who opted out. First, the defense called Andrew Carson. He has lived in Pike Co. his whole life. He knew the Rhodens who died. He knew Jake Wagner as well.

He got news that the Rhodens died, and he called Jake Wagner "to see if he heard anything that was going on" . He said Jake told him he was trying to get a hold of Hanna all morning. "I told him I heard they was dead." "He just starts screaming" and hung up.

When prosecutor had a chance to cross-examine him, he said he would described the Wagners as working as a team.

Next up was Shawn Fisher. He gave the Wagner men tattoos. Remember, prosecutors have accused the men of getting tattoos to commemorate the murders.

Fisher said he doesn't remember an instance where the men came in together to get tattoos together. He said Billy was in all the time and "he was a character." He said Jake was quiet and George was just a goofy country guy.

He said one day George came in asking for a tattoo to cover up a tattoo he didn't like anymore. It was a logo for a diesel company. He told jurors, "We rolled through some ideas." and the defense showed him a picture of George's tattoo.

He said George didn't come up with that idea. He said it was from his imagination as the tattoo artist. "He [George] had little say so." "That [8 ball] was just something that would cover up..." and Skull was a theme to go with it. "I don't remember him asking for a skull.”

As for the aces and eights, the dead man's hand, Fisher said that was always his go-to for filler. "It's based on a wild west folklore.”

He said Billy asked for a scorpion tattoo at one point, and he gave him that on his hand.

He said he gave Jake the arm tattoo. He said Jake brought a picture in of that.

The tattoo george got was very popular with truck drivers.

I find it strange that jake didn't get that 8 ball tattoo if it was supposed to have so much significance in these murders. After all he is the one who killed them all.

I also find it curious why no one on here has mentioned or maybe even thought about that?

A dispute over which recordings of the Wagner family from 2018 wiretaps led to the judge canceling court and sending the jury home Friday.

The recordings are expected to be the final pieces of evidence the state will present in their case against the eldest Wagner son.

Until that is worked out during a hearing scheduled now for Tuesday, the defense is moving forward with presenting their case.

Five defense witnesses are testifying Monday: Andrew Carson, Michael Ramsey Walters, Sean Fisher and two pastors, Kelly Cinereski and his son, Caleb Cinereski.

The judge who is overseeing this case is giving each witness a choice of whether the public can view their testimony.

Only two of the five so far is choosing to testify so the public can see it on camera: the Wagners’ one-time pastor, Kelly Cinereski and his son, Caleb Cinereski.

Earlier Monday, Kelly Cinereski told the jury he knew the Wagners through a church he used to oversee in Minford, Ohio and through his son’s church in Alaska, Kenai, which the Wagners attended when they lived in Alaska from spring 2017 to spring 2018.

Oh I didn't realize that the tickets for witnesses are paid for. Does the defense have to justify why the witness is needed in order to justify paying for a ticket? Interesting.

BBM I didn't hear this, was that tweeted about? I could see Jake's tattoo with the pistons or whatever it was and the cummins diesel thing being popular with truckers, but skulls, 8 balls and cards?

Recounts telling the guardian of Beth Ann Armer he wouldn't let his daughter marry Jake. "Didn't think Jake was really spiritual ... no realness to it ... I wouldn't want my daughter to marry somebody like that."

Guarding responded: She's not my daughter. (What a fantastic guardian!! What a great friend she had too! IIRC she called her friend telling him she was in danger and he shrugged it off, taking JW's side. Just an hysterical female. Nothing to worry about lil lady.)
Is he opting out during cross with AC?? Women must be submissive to their men.....

They are showing the truck bed and the modifications made to it and there is SO much space and those men are both larger than George and Jake. The one man is actually the size of Billy so I'm going to guess that was done to show that even if someone as large as dear old dad was to get in there, there is plenty of space to lay on their back, side or stomachs.

Maybe because he didn't play pool??.. and I haven't seen proof that JW killed them all.
