OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

Is the garage separate or is there entry to the house through it? Just thinking, perhaps the garage was accidentally left unlocked.
That would be a huge coincidence IMO. Especially since it wasn't like a 5 minute walk or drive away to keep checking to see if this was the day it was accidentally left unlocked. I also don't think he knocked on the door and asked to come inside at 3:30-ish a.m. He wouldn't have been seen in the alley if that was the case. I'm thinking he broke in somehow.

What was seen is:

Michael McKee was arrested in the fatal shootings of Monique Tepe, 39, and Spencer Tepe, 37, after he was linked to a vehicle seen on surveillance footage in the Columbus, Ohio, neighborhood around the time of the killings, according to the complaint filed in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect through neighborhood surveillance footage, according to the complaint. Detectives then linked the suspect to a vehicle that arrived just before the murders and left shortly after, according to the complaint
.

Interesting when you read this how LE released the video of the perp and probably knew exactly who did it. Makes me wonder what they were looking for? Did they receive more tips? I just have a feeling they were on to MM very soon after this happened. It's also interesting the wording "linked to a vehicle", makes me wonder if it was a rental car. Do we even know what he drives?

They went to college together, and from all of the public facebook pictures they have posted, and the wedding video, you can see they had mutual friends. MOO, he may have inadvertently heard about her over the years, knew people hung out with her etc. No one would believe he would ever do anything like that, so maybe they talked about her freely?

That’s an interesting point, and it actually makes me wonder if the mutual friends angle could explain how he might’ve gotten the alarm code.

Wow! I had no clue that was even possible. What a frightening prospect for anyone who has this lock.
I'm presuming the person using such device would also have to get lucky with the number combination unless the combined 4 or so numbers were a date of birth known to the perp

I'm watching the WBNS-TV newscast right now.

WBNS is reporting that the murder charges have been upgraded from murder to aggravated murder- premeditated.

And it looks like that the Columbus TV stations are sending their own reporter to Rockford to cover the extradition hearing tomorrow.

What I think happened, since they had footage of him walking in the middle of the night (vid clip we've all seen), was they "followed" him back to his car. I mean followed by various recording devices along the way. They can see where all he went and where he came from. They can check timestamps to determine he arrived shortly before the murders, walked in the cold and snow to their house (that right there is suspicious), then seen in the alley behind the house, then walking back to his car and know what time he left. Then all the needed to do was get a glimpse of the license plate and they had him.

All JMO

@nerosleuth , thanks for posting.

I suspect none of us are surprised by this.

I'm thinking we'll hear about social media stalking, as well as him lurking in the neighborhood.

No wonder the families had L.E. protection.

Just my musings.

I heard someone say you could dust the keypad and see what buttons were pushed regularly. Then with 4 numbers you could try different codes and find it. Someone also said theres a Youtube telling you how to break the code on those mechanisms
So if you “heard” someone say something in this regard could you post a link to the audio or video?
Or did you mean that you “read” this information somewhere?

It was pretty much a basic duh that it was premeditated IMO. No one drives that long and far, in the middle of a snowy and cold night, to their ex's house for tea and cookies!! Of course it was premeditated.

That lawsuit might of the routine and standard sort.

I spoke to an Emergency Room Physician at a party once. He told me that he no longer keeps track. Rather, insurance takes over and he often is not required to testify. The case is settled, probably for a "standard" type amount. The insurance company then passes it on to consumers.
From what I've seen, most threatened malpractice suits don't proceed because the consulting attorney tells them that they don't have a case.

I just heard on NBC News that the suspect lived in Chicago, although he may have been splitting his time between there, and Vegas.

Actually, it really is quite common, especially in larger cities. My daughter had an ADT sign in her front yard that she purchased from eBay.
I have Ring cameras/floodlights all around the perimeter and a shotgun upstairs. A five iron in the closet by the front door. Oh, and a big can of bear spray in the bedside table along with a big flashlight.

ETA: We had a problem a couple of years ago with a next door neighbor who liked to get high and shoot his AR-15 in the back yard next to our house. Chased his grandmother outside. The FBI got a call and he got on a list.

Has it been confirmed that he failed his boards and was not practicing medicine at the time of the murders? I may have misunderstood your post but it would certainly shed light on his state of mind if true.
I don’t know. Some documents posted seem to look that way.

I sure hope not. Would people generally give friends an alarm code? That doesn't sound very secure. One friend has a copy of my key in case I lock myself out, but I live alone. And it's only one friend! I'd be pretty upset if she gave my key to other friends of mine without asking.

So you think it was his car? I just thought it was curious how it was mentioned that it was associated with him yet didn't say owned by him. Of course LE may have already gotten a tip from the Tepe's inner circle that this guy was bad news. I can't wait to learn more!

Perhaps it was a rental? Many cities now have license plate reader cameras. Late at night, there wouldn't have been a lot of traffic in that area, so might have been easy to review the video on nearby cameras. Columbus is the state capital, plus Ohio State is nearby. They probably had some in the area.

SBMFF

Yes.

Detectives noted in the court documents that McKee's car “arrived just prior to the homicides and left shortly after,” and that they were able to identify the vehicle and link it to McKee. The car was later located in Rockford, Ill., and officers said they found evidence that McKee had been in ownership of the vehicle throughout the incident.

Any guesses on how he proceeds? Does he make this a quick deal, confess, plea, and end it? Or does he fight it all along the way? From extradition back to Ohio all the way to a jury trial?
My guess is he will make a quick deal and confess. He already achieved what he wanted, the SOB. JMO.

I'm sorry to say this but if he really wanted to hurt Monique he would have killed her children. I'm grateful he didn't. So what's going on here? IMO

Monique’s last thoughts may have been that he’d go kill the children next. Sickens me to realize that. :(

We seem to know the moment of death ?? but have we had the moment of entry determined?
Not officially but dig around in the usual places and you’ll get an idea.
