The highly intelligent Lola seems to have suffered from a bad case of Imposter's Syndrome. She didn't feel like she was good at her job when in fact, the school principal was very satisfied with her performance. Her landlady said she was so anxious, she began taking nerve pills. I don't know if that is true, as from research, the first nerve pill didn't hit the market until 1955, called Milltown. She wanted to be an interpreter, since she knew 5 languages, but either couldn't find a position in that field or wanted to get her graduate degree first. Perhaps she felt she could do better in her home country of Italy and just left, afraid her family would talk her out of it or disapprove if she told them. I didn't know until now that she was 9 years old when her family came to America, so perhaps memories of a happier childhood there pulled her back to her roots. MOO.

It was 80 years ago today that Lola Celli left her Grandview Heights home and was never seen again. Still thinking of Lola Celli on this day today.

The Columbus Monthly magazine wrote an article in their February 2026 issue about the disappearance of Lola Celli in February 1946.

A Grandview Heights police detective recently looked into their police files on the Lola Celli case.

It was revealed that a letter with words clipped from a magazine or newspaper was found in a Downtown Columbus phone booth addressed to Grandview Heights Police.

While it is not known if the letter was from a kidnapper or crazed lunatic, police believe they may be able to extract DNA from beneath the tape on the envelope.

If a viable DNA sample is secured, the DNA would be cross checked with genetic genealogy DNA databases.

A Columbus PI specializing in locating missing persons says that police detectives in 1946 didn't have the technology 80 years ago that we have now.

Back then there were no security cameras or social media as anyone could disappear back then and never be found.

The Columbus PI believes that Lola met someone and had a bad ending.
