This article has pictures of Hobb's family and a video - OH PLEASE - they won't take lie detector tests...why not?

~~~snipped~~~
"When I unlocked it that was enough. I think I turned as white as a ghost and went hysterical," said Lester's sister Mildred Anderson.
Anderson found Tonya Hobbs' body. She says, since that day she and her family members have not been able to sleep without wondering if Lester would come to them next, because he has threatened to kill them in the past as well.
"Yes I'm scared to death. Not knowing anytime during the night he can show up," said Anderson. "I barricade my door every night and hold my baby in my arms to keep him from coming to hurt my child."
They say since the start of the investigation authorities have pressured them to take lie detector tests, but because several attorneys have advised them not to, they have not. They say they are just protecting themselves and have nothing to hide.
"All Aja ever did was love that man, if you can even call him a man. She does not deserve whatever has happened to her or whatever is happening to her. She does not deserve it," said Lester Hobbs' brother Buck.
They say they have even seen Lester's abuse towards both Tonya and even Aja.
"He would beat her, leave bruises on her, make her eat jalapeno peppers," said Buck.
They hope Aja is safe and Lester returns her, but after a month of searching, that hope is fading fast.
ETA: Toward the end of the video - They think Lester went to Mexico!
I feel angry at everyone who watched little Aja be beaten, punished, and forced to eat jalapeno peppers. I just can't stand this scenario - where is beautiful Aja?
How did they sleep *before* Hobbs killed Tonya & stole little Aja?? :mad:
if they think he's in mexicao (a scenario i might agree with) exactly how long did it take them to tell law enforcement that?
Too long. But not too long for us to find Aja.
kbl - I was wondering the same dang thing! Wonder if refusing to take lie detector tests has anything to do with the thought he might be in Mexico? Why else would they refuse lie detector tests?
I agree that he might have headed for Mexico...but maybe he didn't get there. Maybe we could do a little online sleuthing of Western Union offices, where many people (IMO, often to or from Mexico) make money transfers?
If he's out there, he's getting money from somewhere.
Forgot to add- do we have anyone in the Big Bend area?
I thought of Aja just the other day. I saw a grey paseo and it's funny how this website affects us all. Just out of the blue this car was there and my thoughts when straight to Aja....weird
Why would the family refuse polygraphs? Maybe they do drugs or something, but I'm sure they could make an agreement that says anything they say on the poly could not be used against them, unless it relates directly to Hobbs. If they say that, and they have nothing to hide - they should do the polys. This isn't about them, unless they helped Hobbs escape. What are the chances of that?
It seems kinda hinky that no opened the door on the trailer until 9:00 p.m. Sunday but not that hinky. I would not go into my sister or brother's house just because they were not home and wouldn't answer their phone. I would only do that if I was worried.
For instance - if my brother's young teenage daughter came home, couldn't get into the trailer and I couldn't reach my brother or his wife. If I knew the children had to be back somewhere that day and no one came to pick up my niece - then my hinky meter might be going off. But I would wait a considerable time before breaking into their house. But if my niece said she needed something from the trailer - I don't think I would wait 12 hours, kwim?
Why does LE even want them to take polys? LE must suspect they know something? Or LE is just trying to cover all bases.
If it turns out these people are helping Hobbs (and I don't think they are, but I am suspicious) then I hope LE prosecutes to the fullest extent.
I so agree with eyesforcrime - I too feel very angry that none of this family stepped up for Aja. She should have been away from Hobbs a long time ago!
I do belive in 'domestic violence' and feel a person can be so violent that he has everyone around him - frozen in terror - unwilling to act out of fear for their life and the life of the person he's directing his violence toward. But really, how about the schools that saw Aja's bruises? How about LE - now, they are more than willing to talk about how Hobbs was a predator for the most vulnerable. How about DFS? Called and never took action?
How about ALL the institutions in place to protect children - not one of them worked for beautiful Aja. MOO
How many attorneys can this family have that are advising them? Do they know of a friend in Mexico Hobbs may be with? Refusing to take lie detector test is outrageous and, at least for me, sends a message of concern for the perp and THEMSELVES rather than little Aja. Why do they think Hobbs is in Mexico - there has got to be a reason? MOO
