I'm not sure why people assume he feels guilty when it sounds as if he planned on killing these precious girls.

I think he may feel remorse rather than guilt. Guilt can keep you on the run, remorse can make you end it all.

Thanks for posting, but OMG "Whitney detailed incidents that contributed to the separation, including a situation on Aug. 15, 2024, when Travis allegedly found one of their daughters passed out with a bathrobe tied around her neck at his mother's house and failed to inform Whitney.

That shouldn't have been able to be publicly released. None of the court paperwork surrounding the kids custody should've been publicly released

The red circle is approximately (roughly) at the Rock Island Campground (Crime Scene Location) the dotted black line is the Pacific Crest Trail continuing to the U.S. border then it stretches into British Columbia,Canada.I apologize this is the best I could do, I hope it helps.If anything is in error please flag my post.

Bringing forward this comment of mine here from earlier in the week regarding the PCT:

Worth noting that the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail, a major hiking trail from California to Canada) is about 40 miles west of Leavenworth, at Stevens Pass. Hikers can receive packages and use the facilities at the Stevens Pass lodge. There's a bus that runs between the lodge and Leavenworth. In the spring and summer, it's common to see PCT hikers taking side trips into Leavenworth where there is a large grocery store and other shopping and services. It would not be difficult for someone to hitch a ride from the Icicle Valley campgrounds into Leavenworth, take the bus to Stevens Pass, and head out on the PCT.

A Ranger clearly has skills to make finding him in a wilderness area very difficult. Even more challenging, one of Decker's inlaws has related that he enjoyed camping "off grid" for up to two months at a time.

But....

The Border Patrol is on the case! Respecting Rangers and other Special Forces soldiers, nobody in North America tracks humans better than the USBP. That would go doubly so for specialized "sign cutting" agents.

Even the USBP is known to pull in additional human tracking specialists from the Tono O O'dham native nation from time to time.

In the end, with the USBP on the case, I am fully confident that if Decker is alive and in the area, USBP sign cutters and possible tribal consultants will find him.

The gist of the criticisms was that no way, even against a court order, would they have allowed the children to go with him. Yeah, right.
I am so happy to be on Websleuths! Yes, the rules can be strict, but when you go somewhere where there are few, or even no rules, then you appreciate what we have here.

I think what people don’t understand is that if a protective parent violates a court order and withholds visitation, the court can turn around and award more visitation or even custody to the non-custodial parent. I have read and seen so many horror stories that defy logical thinking. “Family” court is so often about parental rights, akin to property rights, and often disregards the safety and best interests of the children.

Rock Island Campground is significantly more to the south than the red circle on this map. It's to the south of Glacier Peak. Here's a crop from Google Maps. The pin is the campground. You can see Glacier Peak near the top left corner. Stehekin is in the top right/center. Leavenworth is just to the lower/right of the campground. Wenatchee is in the bottom right.
