I really don't understand why this is so hard for everyone to understand. It has been CLEARLY stated multiple times on all of the threads. I'm new here yet I still got the message. So, what is the problem?
I could not agree with you more. I am blown away.

I don't know how to say it any more plainly:

1. Be cautious in your posting when it comes to accusing the family of any crime. Discuss the information, behaviors, timeline, statements and your opinions of such;just don't accuse any family members of anything. They are cooperating, they are potential victims of a potential life changing crime and they have not been the target of the investigation by LE in any public way.

If that changes the discussion will open up. We always respect privacy first and move on by following the leads from LE.

2. Don't link or post the personal information of any family member. if it is infomration that is reported in the media then you can link to the article. Please do not sleuth the family members. period.

3. Don't link or sleuth random people that "might" be a family member that you aren't supposed to link to in the first place. For the love of God!

5. No rumors or gossip or posting information from a private facebook or other social media! if you cannot link it don't post it.

4. if the investigation turns inward then these rules will change dramatically. it is still early and we are following ther lead of LE.

Just mentioning that Facebook doesn't always update in real time as far as their games go and things. Just because it says you are playing, say, Farmville at 8:00 am doesn't mean you are actually doing that.

I respectfully disagree. I have a Facebook app on my blackberry. Everything is immediate. I also play a game on my laptop with my sister while she is on her laptop. She also has multiple facebook profiles. The lagtime is only a few moments.

Question here. Has anyone ever heard of any previous missing children's cases where a LE officer was assigned to the home of the missing parents? I'm new to WS in that I have only followed a few cases here, Tori Stafford and currently Susan Powell, though I have glanced a bit at a few others, but not intensely. Even in thinking of other local cases throughout the years where I have lived, I don't recall ever hearing of such a thing. I am curious if this is something new for missing children's cases (if so, but only in Kyron's home town or state),? DOes it vary by state? jurisdiction? Anyone know?

p.s. I am NOT making any accusations towards the stepmom - I want to make that clear. Like everyone else, I am completely stumped on this one.

I was wondering that too. Has this been confirmed?
maybe because step dad is a police officer... they are getting lots of perks?

idk.
one of my MANY theories is that this could be a situation where kyron was targeted as a way to get back at a family member... so they may feel the family is at risk?

Yes, happens often. :) Most recently with Somer. Hope that helps.

Children do not vanish off of the face of the earth. As so many people have pointed out, strangers stand out in an elementary school.

BBM

Unfortunately, on this particular day, a strange face might not have been noticed at all. When we have science fairs at our middle school, I don't know who is a parent, grandparent, judge, aunt/uncle, cousin, etc...you get my point. A stranger could have easily slipped in and just waited...and that is the scariest part.

And I hate to say this, but I don't blame the parents for waiting so long to get in front of the camera to plead for Kyron's safe return. In fact, this practice has always puzzled me: anyone who would be moved by a parent's plea would not have taken the child in the first place.

I pray he ran off and is safe. Hopefully he went to look for frogs or something and is out there somewhere.

With my FB account, I have noticed it is not always current. Maybe the updates vary between pc's, laptops, blackberry's and other technical gadgetry. Its not uncommon for me to check FB in the morning and see posts/comments from the previous night that I did not see the previous night. I have seen other FB acct holders say the same thing. I have also experienced glitches in FB myself when playing games. Like anything else, I think FB and its servers are subject to glitches, snags and hangups like everything else in this world.

They stayed with Somer Thompsons family.Somers mother and family were not involved in Somers disappearance or death.

It's usual for the family to be assigned a liason officer to provide better communication between the family and police. This is the first case I've seen where the officer was actually with the family 24/7. That's some seriously expensive service. Captains make good money.

I have wondered if LE stayed with the family because there was some suggestion/idea that this was a ransom case. LE (and several others) would be nearby to trace the call and handle info that came in....

Well I understand that, I hope that I didn't come off as snippy. I'm new here!

Kyron Horman: Timeline of events since boy's disappearance
Published: Friday, June 11, 2010, 9:52 PM Updated: Friday, June 11, 2010, 10:04 PM

9 a.m. Someone reports seeing Kyron at the school, but investigators won't say who or where. It's the last time anyone remembers seeing the boy.

What are everyone's thoughts about this? Why not even confirm this is the last time he was seen? WHO could this person be that their identity is so "secret" (maybe a juvenile)
Or why won't LE at least confirm the WHERE this was that he was seen? I just don't get it.

Regarding mainstream news reports about the family:

We know that LE has searched the area around the family home:

http://photos.oregonlive.com/oregonian/2010/06/searching_for_skyline_student_16.html

The SM's dad made a comment that was at odds with LE regarding the family speaking publicly but you might be able to chalk that up to a misunderstanding on SM's dad's part:

...the father of the boy's stepmother, said investigators urged the family to avoid the spotlight. But Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton said that's not true. A sheriff's captain who has been working with the family "had a conversation with them and that's when they decided to talk to the media," he said.
