I wonder if this case has anything to do with blood child vs. step child and the belief that the step child was getting in the way?

I think it's possible.

Another random info.

I live out in the country in another state. My road is not dead end, but the next road that is 1 block over is.

I chose my house because it is at the top of a park. Nothing around for a long ways.

Now I am wondering that decision!

Anyway, anytime a car goes by on our road, we wonder who it is. We complain if a couple of cars go by. "What's this? A freeway?"

I think the sighting of the white truck by Jim Kelley and a neighbor is very bizarre.

Perhaps a person looking for a dump site, but changed her mind after seeing that people were watching.

People are always dropping couches, rugs etc on the scenic road up to my house.

In this case, I am not referring to that kind of thing being dropped off, however.

I think many of us want to believe LE has a handle on this as we can't imagine otherwise, it is too scary to think that after all this time with all of the resources involved that they still might not know where this is going.

The only thing I think for sure is that they don't believe a stranger/abductor is involved or they could not dare say that this is isolated. Since they are saying so little, I doubt they would say that, of all things. But unless they know who may/did take him out of school, they have no business saying this, IMO, not if it is just a guess.

I'm not thinking that the family members have been cleared until LE says so, or arrests someone else, or finds Kyron and can prove he ran off on his own. JMO

How do we know the school failed Kyron? Someone certainly did, but we don't have nearly enough information regarding what anyone at the school knew, or was told, regarding Kyron's whereabouts that day. I am sure all of that is, or has been, investigated by the police and the FBI.

my opinion.

***If the school wasn't notified that Kyron would be leaving for the day*** then, I believe the school did fail him by not notifying the parents when it was realized he was missing from the group.

I have been screaming crime of opportunity since day one.

In cases like these -- an arrest normally isn't made until AFTER a body is discovered. The police have to be extremely careful about coming out and naming a POI. As soon as they name a POI -- that POI normally gets an attorney, and doesn't talk.

Recent searches are probably based on cell phone pings.

I think LE is handling this case brilliantly.

I keep thinking of that show, Without a Trace" the camera shows the victim and then they just fade of of the picture. Well we all learn in the end what or how or why this person goes missing. Kyron's story feels like that, like he just vanished into thin air, but he didn't and I hope the end of this story is he is found, safe and brought home and pray to God anyone who lured him is caught and put in jail forever. Kyron we are praying for you to come home.

Probably already responded to, but the Rose Festival parade etc is/was actually this weekend (June 11-13), not last. Fleet Week was last week however.

ETA: My bad and my apologies! Also the Starlight stuffs last weekend. I should have known that as an acquaintance was headed down there for the Run and subsequent parade. Portland apparently does love its parades! None of which should have any connection to Kyron's disappearance however.

Except the perp may have thought this story wouldn't get as much attention because the whole city, including the cops would be wrapped in in the huge Rose Festival activities, which last two weeks.

Scott Peterson thought nobody would pay attention to his missing wife in Christmas Eve, either. Big mistake. People are certainly less selfish than perps anticipate.

On the drive to my sons (5) game I told him I wanted to talk about strangers, he informed me he already knew. I said oh really, what if someone says come to the woods with me, your mom said it was ok. My son replied no thanks. I said well here is something important to remember, I gave off a list of friends parents, my friends, people we might just know, asked him what would he say. He didn't reply. I told him the deal is to always come and ask me, I don't care if that person already said I said it was ok. I think this is something that needs to be worked on with all children. Just because I know someone doesn't mean I trust them and thats something I want my kids to learn. Maybe there should be a campaign about double checking with parents first.

I noticed a w/c ramp in the back of Skyline School.
o/t
I went to a concert at a high school in Portland years ago, with my w/c bound adult son.
It was quite the experience.
We had to use a freight elevator and were escorted through the innerds of the school.
A boiler room of some kind.
I had never seen a room like that before, and personally,
I found it to be quite degrading,
like I imagined black people felt having to use the back door.
That's what it reminded me of at the time, how it made me feel.
moo

Well, to be sure. But I have to say that the freight elevator at my high school was right out in the middle of central hall, not hidden away anywhere. Really the most convenient place it could have been located.

Most of Portland's schools were built between 1900 and 1930. No elevators. A few small, one story schools were built in the 50s and 60s. I am sure all of the nice, new, suburban schools have elevators.

Great points, they know the drill, they know how LE searches and how they work. They know the media by now. It may have been an opportunity to take a child but it was (I'll say it again) the perfect storm. This was the perfect day, week, month to do this in his mind.

Whose pings can they track? I mean - do they have to have substantail reason to believe that it may be related to the case? Or can they just track people that they have a sort of vague feeling about?

  • #533
Given enough time and the right pressure most perps will crack or slip up in some way. LE is playing the waiting game and slowly, carefully applying pressure in order to build a tight case. Sadly, I don't expect Kyron to be ok, I think the perp disposed of him quickly and this was premeditated. I don't think the perp is smart enough or strong enough to hold up under continual pressure AND as far as "plans" go, the perp certainly isn't a genuis.

AS always, MOO

Also, this is important, you and your child need a SAFE WORD OR CODE! Only you two know it, never give it out. If a person comes to a school and says, you mom had an accident, I am here to pick you up. He or she should ask, what it the SAFE WORD OR CODE. If they don't know it, your child runs and screams until somebody comes , never get in the car!

Day ten.

If he is in water,

he should surface today or tomorrow.

How I hate writing this.

Especially since it has finally warmed up here. I think he is either in the lake at Sauvie Island, or was dumped into the Columbia River.

Plus, maybe the perp didn't much care for Kyron and couldn't foresee that the whole would would.

OT: I live near a grade school (in my back yard), and in the after school hours and week-ends, I see very young (6-8) year olds alone, riding their bike .... or just walking along. Sometimes there is 2 together and rarely 3.

I look around and see no adults. I've sat out and watched also, I see no adults around at all. It drives me crazy, and worries me so! When they're within eyesight, I sure do watch them closely!

What is WRONG with parents??

There's nothing wrong with parents. There is, however, something wrong with a justice system that allows child molestors to roam free around our children and grandchildren. There is DEFINITELY something wrong with a culture that spawns these perverts and then protects them.

No, there is nothing wrong with the parents other than the fact they still believe their children can breathe God's fresh air and play on the green grass.

When are WE, as the United States of America, going to say, "enough is enough," and put these baby rapers to death?

I think it's got to be beyond this ... it's got to be about helping kids to listen to their gut and trusting themselves to say no or yes in a situation where they feel something is not right. I am thinking of the case of that Utah boy whose discovery was delayed because he was avoiding ALL strangers - the very searchers who were looking for him! His parents had taught him to not talk to strangers, stay away from strangers, and he took that literally! Or the case of Adam Walsh, who apparently waited for his mother at the entrance of a shopping mall instead of going to a shop clerk or security guard or some other adults within the store to get help finding his mother.

Does anyone know where they are searching right now today?
