I thought her memorial was touching. That's a lot of people. :) And we sure lost a good Nurse which is a shame. :(

about 300 of Jubane’s friends, coworkers, former patients and people who were simply touched by her story gathered to honor her memory after the 32-year-old was found dead last week.

“If you had a question, she had an answer. If she didn’t have an answer, she knew who to find, who to ask to find out the answer for you.

Thank you for answering my questions. I'm so very curious to know if he was/was not offered a job and also if/where he worked between November 2023 and now.
JMO, he was probably employed. It's hasn't been reported yet but to afford an apartment, he was probably working.

On Sept. 9, Schubert appeared in court virtually for the first time. Schubert is charged with murder in the second-degree, first-degree kidnapping, and abuse of a corpse.

Schubert appeared in court again on Sept. 10 andwas seen in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs with an attorney present who tried to shield him from the cameras.

This was his first rodeo JMO
I feel like (and this is JMO) that he made very tentative trials towards an actual abduction. I feel like the girls/women he approached/tried to talk to instantly got a creepy vibe - strong enough that they knowingly (or even unknowingly) got away from him as fast as they could.

I don’t in any way mean to imply that his “actual” victims were somehow less intuitive about his creep-factor than those that survived “physically uninjured”. Unfortunately, this monster continued to perfect his hunting. I hope he is found guilty and is NEVER able to leave prison grounds until he is dead and in a box!

I would suspect he had aggressive, violent daydreams, but probably never acted on them. Maybe he was occasionally violent with prior girlfriends, choking or such, but never consistently. Such things may come and go, so during Covid isolation they could have been more serious, but during nursing residency, he could have been physically too busy. I wonder if before it happened, he had some time off work, a vacation or less busy schedule so he was focusing on his imaginary dreams more? I think that the abduction/murder itself was impulsive, maybe unexpected for himself, and he did not plan on doing it that morning, but in his mind, he was coming to it for quite a while. There should be something on his computer. It is also interesting if Melissa, in a way, fit into his preferred style - small, slim but fit, with dark hair. I don't think it is an ethnic preference, more likely build/hair. JMO.

I've listened to about 2 hours of the scanner traffic feed from 9/4 for this case on the Washington County Sheriff scanner archive (there is no Beaverton feed on Broadcastify) and I've put the related information in the scanner thread in the parking lot.

For those unfamiliar, there cannot be conversation about scanner traffic in this thread here.

They called the police though. And the police were convinced enough to act right away. This is unusual and stellar.

***IMO***
I agree 100%. She was so clearly loved and valued by many in the community. I know they must all feel devastated that she is gone.

Thank you, @TravelingBug. :)

Here's a link to the scanner thread for anyone who is unfamiliar. Any comments there must be made in parentheses ( ).

Do we know if he had other victims or approached other women? I hadn't heard about others coming forward, but would like to read that info if you have it.

she has a dog??
She does have a dog, but by all reports she locked her apartment at 6:23 AM, as usual, to head to the garage for work. Bryce lived 2 doors down from her, per a neighbor. Her cell phone turned off at 7 AM. It's certainly possible she took the dog out for a walk and he was waiting, but I've been in the area and the easy way to assault her would be get her in the apartment, not in a busy neighborhood literally filled with housing and people. Hopefully they'll let us know what transpired, but we'll probably have to wait.

In terms of rape charges, if there was a rape, when would we expect to see those charges added?

I don’t know of any other victims or attempts. I was just trying to say that I think he may have had some leanings towards this and that if he did act on anything previously he may have done so in a more tentative way that creeped people out and never materialized into an actual assault.

I wonder why he did this to THIS victim. Was there an obsession, a hatred, simply an opportunity where she was in the wrong place at the wrong time when she crossed paths with the evil he couldn’t contain any longer?

Someone previously mentioned that any hospitals he worked at should carefully review any “unexpected” and/or suspicious deaths. The majority of health care workers are truly caring people who would never dream of hurting someone, let alone taking a life. But there are those evil souls that use become health care workers for the wrong reasons and the access they can have to people in truly vulnerable situations - just like some pedophiles seek jobs that allow them access to children.

I suspect it was something ugly, so maybe never. People are angry with him, but maybe the judge feels that his family needs some protection, too? It is not their fault, mere tough luck that he turned out such a brute.

I think they would have already been added. I don't think there was any sexual assault.

I assumed that was the reason he kidnapped and murdered Melissa. But your comment has me second-guessing that. Given the PCA was sealed so quickly, we may be surprised at what's revealed Monday. Regardless, it's going to be very difficult for her family and those who loved Melissa.

Idem, thought it was a passion crime, but now I really wonder. Why, how and where…

All MOO. Historically, any society past tribal had problem with men reaching puberty. And any modern country does. There is a disconnect between the genetic program of early tribal men whose lifespan was 20 years (so the goals were, to feed the tribe via hunt, to protect the tribe via war and to make sex with as many women in possible for gene diversity). So teenage behavior defying social norms that we see nowadays is the remainder of that old program. We are still a very young species on the land, we just evolved due to a couple of interesting mutations. Old societies had structured ways to send out the most active/troublesome young people out (think, crusaders, or sea travels, etc). Nowadays, life has changed more than people. What to do with them? There are few organized structures except for the army, and they help. I think channeling energy into athletics helps too. Definitely not sitting at the computer alone with one’s thoughts. Again, pure JMO.

Great food for thought, Charlot!

(Read the "however" before going off half cocked. lol)

This is sure odd. I Googed for updates and saw this:

HOWEVER, and this is a BIG HOWEVER.... the actual article after clicking on the link says nothing about where she was found, and there was only 1 instance of the word apartment in the entire article, and that was in regards to the fact that BS was a neighbor in the apartment complex.

I just found it strange that the search results would say something else, and am wondering why that would be? Maybe it's as simple as the dreaded AI writing whatever that section is that shows up in search results.
