Larch Mountain is largely used for hunting and target practice. I know some people hike up there, but most hikers head towards Multnomah Falls and surrounding areas to hike there (more scenic).

Isn't it isolated?

The thing I find odd is - there's a solid 30-45 min drive (minimum) between Dodge Park and Larch Mountain.

Edit: Well, Larch Mountain is.. large, a vast area. So, it depends on where they're talking about finding "things" there.

It is, yes. I haven't been up in a few years, but when I did - you'd run into groups of people (hunting) occasionally, but it wasn't strange to NOT run into people, because it was that isolated.

Teens are known to go up there to do drugs and such as well.

I'm thinking he dropped all or most of her personal belonging at the park and took her to Larch Mountain.

Oh gosh. How sad! The mother could barely breath and the husband had tears streaming down his face. Heartbreaking. Just crushing.

Didn't hear mention in new conference if the Starbucks where she worked has video surveillance, and how far back it goes... someone there might have been watching her...

Is the road still shut down?

I'm wondering if the person who did this ether had been on Larch Mountain before or knew the area.

Definitely! He knows Larch Mountain and Dogde Park very well.

So in that case this being a random act is less probable but still possible.

I have traveled through Oregon and purchased gas. I know you stay in the car and let the attendant fill it but I can't recall if I paid as a debit or credit and if it was credit, did I sigh for it? If it was debit, was I offered "cash back"?

Can any Oregonian tell us definitively what happens when you hand an attendant a card? Can you ger "cash back"?

I can do an ATM transaction and see it recorded on my On Line Banking record within minutes. I am not sure if "unsuccessful" i.e. wrong password attempts would show up the same.

Does anyone know if a "failed" transaction is shown on an On Line Banking record? (I know that Law Enforcement is able to track all transaction, even failed ones, eventually.)

thats a good point... I wonder if she had a regular customer at Starbucks who came in each morning or very often who has stopped coming in now?

i dont think it shows up... at least with my bank it doesnt, also I know to many failed attempts at least in ohio would lead to your card being kept by the ATM if it was one of the ones you had to completely insert into the machine opposed to one you just swipe in and out... then you get a nice note to call the bank for more assitance...

Backing into a parking spot is not an overly common thing.

The gas thing is perplexing as well, unless of course you can pull cash, then it would make more sense.

I have never been able to get cash back without going inside. If you pay for your gas at the pump, even with a debit card, they run it as credit.

Presumably bc he needed to use her car to get back to where they came from, but why it was left at the Walmart is anybody's guess.
