Below is a video re the boat accident. It includes footage of alcoholic beverages and the initial presser from the police spokeswoman about the investigation into reckless driving etc.

Some time later she announced that there was no investigation. Also officially OP's blood was not drawn for alcohol. Again IMO SAPS and NPA did not act properly and legally in this matter too. Obviously a boat is larger than a fifth phone, memory stick or .38 ammo. And there was the publicly seen damaged pier.

I am still going with Dr Stipps estimate here.. of all the people who were gathered there that morning, he trumps them all in experience and qualifications.. Standar, Clarice, Oscar, Baba, etc.. particularly Oscar's estimate, are irrelevant .. Dr Stipp, after releasing Oscars fingers from her throat, checked her pulse, but more importantly, he checked her eyes.. these were ( I am sorry to be detailed here ) already cloudy, and milky with no corneal reflexes.. this takes a few minutes from death to eventuate, up to 5 to 8 minutes, but not much more than that..

Stipp arrived there around 3.26 or very close to it..

1. He didn't remember going to the racetrack and threatening Quinton van der Burgh (in front of witnesses.)

Does anyone have a realistic view as to why OP included the additional fan in his statement?

There have been a few suggestions that the fan/s were part of a story to give OP a reason to have his back towards the bed, and to explain that this is why he wouldn't have seen Reeva leaving the bed.

If OP has fabricated a story to include the extra fan, then I see this additional fan as a hindrance rather than a benefit.

With specific regard to OP's statement, the extra fan would make little or no difference to the time he spent on the balcony, as OP had never mentioned how long he spent on the balcony in his statement, therefore this could not be disproved. The reason I think it would be more of a hindrance is that it if OP was bringing two fans in, there is probably more opportunity that he could have turned round and spotted Reeva, thus making his explanation more, not less, difficult.

Any thoughts on this?

Sorry soozieqtips - in my haste to be helpful I didn't notice that you had already mentioned the not remembering who he called to pick his car up after the 'mysterious black car' shot at him. Still at least WE both remembered, unlike the person who claims to have been shot at.

This is only the second trial I have followed in any depth and I have found the courtroom proceedings fascinating to watch. Like others have commented, I also feel very sorry for Reeva Steenkamp. She seems to have been well liked by all who knew her and loved by those who knew her well and it's sad that she died at a young age in such frightening circumstances. Hopefully her death will have some meaning if it casts a brighter light on domestic violence in South Africa. This is a high-profile case for obvious reasons but the same thing happens everyday to more 'anonymous' people and they too deserve justice. If RS comes to stand for some type of 'everywoman' then at least her death will have been a little less in vain.

I think that having two fans also adds to the time he was flaffing about with them - so you have two lots of noise and two fans to move, just to try and give him more reason for never turning his attention to any part of the room where he would have had to see or hear RS.

And don't forget, as someone reminds here that WO Botha also informed that Carl and Oldwage were also in the process of trying to remove that memory stick that refers to OP's assets etc. So this is a third item.

Media and Roux have labeled Botha as the scapegoat for all things.
If not for him, crime scene removal of the 2 (or is it 3 or?) items might have been successful.

In interview in YOU magazine, he basically has dared Roux and Co to call him as a witness.
Is that not called a whistleblower?

About the fan evidence that has changed during testimony.
Do I understand correctly that the big fan was plugged in and would reach the middle of the door but the small one wouldn't ?
I believe it was the wire to the small one that was under the speaker and also wondered if it was plugged in at all ?

He could only have called friends and no doubt they would have been happy to back him up now if it had happened .

Can I just clarify why some are saying that the "5th iPhone" (pedantically this is the 3rd iPhone or 5th cell phone, as the other two cell phones were Blackberry phones) went missing for 16 days? According to Nel, OP's "missing" iPhone, which I believe has the number ending 0020, was handed to the South African Police Service by the accused on 25 February after being taken from the scene on 14 February. That's 11 days. The data from the three iPhones and 2 iPads was admitted to court as Exhibit XX.

Re the fans question, to be honest I got quite confused about what fans would reach/plug in to where during that part of the testimony. I think the gist of it was though that if they were moved to where OP said one wouldn't have reached and the other had no available plug in the powerboard to plug it into. IIRC that was the essence of it but I'm sure a better sleuther than me will correct me if that's wrong.

Re the 'incident on the highway' I agree that it's unlikely to have ever happened. As you say, even if he couldn't remember who he called, the friend/s likely would and would testify to that. IMO it was an 'easy' claim to make and no-one can prove or disprove it but the fact he can't remember who he called makes it appear made up.

Re "the highway incident" in which OP supposedly felt he was being shot at because he saw a "muzzle" flash, don't they have paparazzi in SA? I don't know if time in prison would help him mature, but it would certainly save the lives of other innocents in his paranoid path.
