Othram - General Discussion - #3

Honored that Othram could assist the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in identifying a 1996 homicide victim as Betty Jean Benton. Grateful to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Foundation for funding the casework.

Is the picture of her AI enhanced or generated from an existing image? A very similar photo has been posted by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (a yearbook headshot from 1969), except it's grayscale and of a lower resolution. She appears to be the same age and wearing the same clothes in both images and I'm very confused as to how one picture looks so crappy and the other looks like it could have been taken yesterday.

Good question. This image was upscaled and colorized using an AI algorithm.

''DNA technology continues to crack decades-old crime mysteries.

In the last 30 days, the company Othram has solved five California cases; three of them are from the Bay Area.

Director of case management, Michael Vogen explains their technology can go a step further than what public crime labs are armed with.

"Cases don't have to go cold anymore. Cold cases are a thing of the past," Vogen said.''

Let's drive repeat crime to extinction!

Honored that Othram could assist the Pierce County Sheriff's Office in identifying 1997 homicide victim as Laurie Krage.

Her WS thread:

He raped and murdered Rachel Morin. Yesterday, he was convicted. Othram technology helped the Harford County Sheriff’s Office and FBI identify him. This tech should be used in every active case—serial predators don’t stop until they’re caught.

Honored that Othram could assist the District One Medical Examiner's Office in identifying a 1989 John Doe as Charles Collier. This case was partially funded through NamUs and we are grateful to RTI, NamUs, and the NIJ for this funding.

Honored that Othram could assist the North Haven Police and the CT Division of Forensic Services in identifying the suspect in the 2024 sex assault of young woman. The suspect is arrested and the victim is his step-daughter. Another realtime case that you would not have wanted to wait to solve.
