''In August 2008, an individual walking along the beach near the old Silver King Resort west of Port Angeles, Washington discovered a shoe containing a sock and what appeared to be human skeletal remains. Detectives with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and collected the items. Investigators with the King County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the remains found inside of the shoe were part of a human foot.

@othram I’m fairly new to the world of genetic genealogy, so apologies if this is a silly question. But since Barbara was identified via DNA, does this mean that you would you have been alerted to any familial matches in NAMUS? Or does it not work that way?

I only ask because her 12 year old daughter was missing too. Barbara was from NY but found in CT. Perhaps her daughter is a Jane Doe too. maybe in NY, CT, or another state altogether.

This is one of those cases where the identification of a Jane Doe, is not the end, but rather the beginning of a deeper investigation.

Darylnn would've turned 47 years old 10 days after her body was found. She was a lot older than the estimate of 20-30. It's so sad that her family's assumption that she was murdered by a serial killer turned out to be true.
