The 60 ft. reference came from Sheriff Beary shortly after her body was found.

This fact makes it all the more unlikely that the meter reader actually visually spotted the bag while relieving himself. Seems highly unlikely that he would fight his way through thick plants anywhere near enough to spot a bag on the ground that was also partially covered by brush.
Or the body was alot closer to the road. Or he was just doing what he was tipped to do. My money is on the latter.

The "60 or so feet in" reference by Sheriff Kevin Beary is incorrect. We've had several WS'rs who have been to the crime scene who can attest to the fact that the crime scene is not an acre in size, nor is it 60 ft. into the woods.....Here's a good thread with comments from the locals who have been to the crime scene: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77485

What I find odd is that CSI used one of those measuring contraptions that you see road construction crew people use, to measure how far off the road and how far in the crime scene actually was, so why hasn't OCSO corrected their information on their website. Unless they found additional evidence deeper in from where the grid was and where Caylee was found, and they just aren't telling the whole tale....

I wouldn't be too concerned about OSCO not changing their website information. All this indicates is that the website information for the public is not at the top of their priority list. In the very beginning I heard 40, 45 and 60 feet and this could be a measurement from the center line of Surburban, which is more accurate than "the side of the road".

I can think of several reasons why he would leave. He didn't know when LE would arrive, had given enough info for them to check it out and had to get back to work.
I can recall 2 times I have called 911 from my car,but didn't stay myself. Situations I could see, pass on the info and assume LE would look into it.There was nothing I could do in either case and needed to get going.Since I called 911 I had done my part to alert them.

I have done the same. In fact, it would take something pretty big for me to ever call them again....last time they made me turn my car around and go back and I thought they put my safety in jeopardy by publicly involving me like that. So, if I was MR, lived or worked in the area, I probably would have looked in those woods too, and probably would have dealt with anything I found the same way he did. Given the hard time he is getting, it worries me that next time someone is found or something like this happens, the person may not call 911 and may just not bother reporting it.

Is anyone actually saying they saw Caylee's body "in situ" or are they just speculating as to where it was she was found? I thought only LE got close enough to actually see where she was and the photos only leave us guessing?? I can't imagine all those people would lie to us about where they found her???? Why would they do that? I just don't see a motive and there are far too many who know where the body was found to have them all lie about it.

Did OCSO make a mistake in regards to the tips from the meter reader - yes - and you know what? - they came forward and admitted it themselves.

Did they admit to a mistake? I didn't hear that. I thought they said they were going to conduct an internal investigation on the matter.

These crime scene photos should answer the questions about how far back it was.

hmm.. I never took it to be that the ez-up was over the exact crime scene but set up where they could have a table and things they needed?

Does anyone know for a fact that that was where the bag and scull were found.. I just figured it was further into the woods

But really, wouldn't you stay to show them exactly what you've seen and it's exact location. Especially when it is in such a heavily wooded area? And if it was so easily spotted by the MR then why didn't the police find it the first time they were called??
In terms of the crime scene photos relating to the location of the body from the road...the pictures aren't labeled as to where, exactly, the bag was found. So that is still speculation. Unless I've missed something. I'm just going with OCSO stating she was 60 feet from the road. That's just too far for someone stepping off the side of the road to relieve themselves. If he really spotted this bag the first 2 times he could have made sure that it became the possession of LE. You make your call, stay with it and lead police right to it. Seems pretty simple.

Please forgive me if this has already been discussed - I haven't read the whole thread yet - it's HUGE!

TES was in Orlando the last time on Nov. 7th & 8th. If I remember right, there was something discovered off of Suburban that several searchers police reports were taken (last doc dump I think). Whatever was found was some kind of buried something with a rope sticking out of the ground and it took several people to pull it out of the ground? I don't remember it all, but I do remember it was all over these threads with people talking about it and if it was related to the case.

We decided it must be related because the doc dump contained the police reports where each person had to state "did not contact the media"...in any event, it was a BIG deal.

Is it possible that with all the hubub about this "find" that maybe the PI(s) were down on Suburban filming to see what area and possibly what was discovered, or evidence flags or whatever? He filmed on the 11th right? Only 3 days after TES left...

Was there a post on here about the possibility of JH working for LE?

  • #892
Yes or as a PI for someone else, too.

Has anyone heard what time JH is supposed to hold a presser tomorrow?!

Well, I was just listening to the jail house conversation between LA and KC, the last one, part two, link here:
http://www.wftv.com/video/18206946/index.html
And this jumped out.

about 0:53 LA talks about his contacts with other agencies.
LA says:
"Whether you or Jose can check this out. If you guys can probe...Orange county has mentioned some other resources they are using right now. If there is a way to confirm that without me making an 🤬🤬🤬 out of myself and an 🤬🤬🤬 out of the situation without trying to find out for myself. I'm just trying to make sure everyone's on the up and up. I'd be very interested in hearing the results of this. Coz if certain things aren't what they seem, it's gonna change, you know, how some of the stuff goes down..."

I'm not sure why I think this, but my impression is that Lee was talking about the FBI as the resource.Lee didn't trust LE to be honest about whether or not the FBI was really involved and wanted Jose' to check it out.At this point Lee was appearing to cooperate with LE and didn't want to attempt to check it out himself because that would tip LE off that he didn't really trust them to be "on the up and up".
IIRC Cindy made some comments about LE misleading them about the FBI's involvement.

I never heard about this Scott Peterson thing. WTF is he getting involved in this? This thing just keeps getting weirder and weirder.:eek:

You know what they say about "birds of a feather flock together!" Her & Scott Peterson would make EXCELLENT pen pals and they are writing from EXCELLENT locations (prison). Perhaps they may even end up with identical futures at some point (DP)!
JMO!

http://www.wftv.com/news/18411813/detail.html

Eyewitness News has learned the Anthonys' two private investigators came to the discovery scene on November 15 and 16, a Saturday and Sunday, possibly because they didn't find Caylee's remains right away.

So they were there two days????? They knew and were looking for her.

When the MR called the tips back in August did he say he found something related to the Caylee case? That would make a difference. If it was just a general tip it wouldn't be included in Caylee tips.He may have said Caylee, but I don't recall.I just know the supervisor said it on the Dec.call.

MissJames, he suggests it might be related to the Caylee case. Here's a transcript from CNN:

I thought only JH was supposed to be having a presser today. I thought the two PI's were apart. Now WFTV says they're both having a prasser? Together?
