PA PA - District Attorney Ray Gricar Mysteriously Disappeared - Bellefonte 15 April 2005 #18

No. According to his nephew, RFG did not like guns. He could have easily gotten a concealed carry permit, had he wanted one.
I remain curious about this case- I remember the news report when it happened and I remember thinking it was one of his defendants at the time. I just cannot imagine some one in LE not being concerned about their personal safety; the people they prosecute can be brutal. I still do not know. All the personal info is confounding. I still would think something to do with his cases- why he was wiping and destroying his hard drive is another interesting facet.

It is possible, if not probable, that someone else took that computer and destroyed the hard drive. I don't believe he did it. That would be the person who killed him. JMO

But why then bring it with him? PF stated this was not something he would do.

What occurred that day is a mystery-------maybe for some unknown reason he did something he ordinarily
Did not do

Considering that he asked people how to remove the data, bought erasure software, and did searches about how to destroy the drive on his computer, it is very likely RFG is the one that tossed it.

Certainly that scenario is possible, but we will never know for sure the details of
What happened to a man who vanished and, what he did that fateful day

It is more than possible. It is highly probable.

What was on that hard drive that was so terrible he wanted no one to see? He could've just taken it to any computer store and they would've done it for him.

I agree w/your post. I didn’t watch the Dateline episode; however, the Final Argument podcast is well worth a listen, very insightful, and it gave info not known publicly.

Ive forgotten so much about this case so perhaps I should not even respond but will go ahead anyway. ;)

iirc, some of my thoughts...

What stood out for me is that the DA took the day off from work.
Why? Wonder if someone contacted him and asked to meet up to discuss a case...
Perhaps this person told the DA they wanted to disclose crucial info needed for a case being worked by DA.
So they meet up at the shops location.
It’s private at this point- but of course DA still brings his laptop to document the meeting w/said person(s).
If the woman sighting is credible, maybe she was part of the set up to put the foul play into motion...

Unfortunately, I dont think the truth will ever come to light.

After following this case for three years, I agree that it will probably never be solved. Likely when the Final Argument Podcast published some of the case files that were clandestinely obtained, that was the last new information any of us will ever get to see.

After all of the information I have seen about this case, it is more than 75% probable (imo) that Ray Gricar met someone in Lewisburg. That almost certainly rules out suicide, especially with lack of a body, but doesn’t elevate probability of walkaway over foul play or vice versa.

For both walkaway and foul play, there are hundreds of feasible reasons, motives, scenarios. Higher on my list of possible persons he met are a female lover, a male lover, a paid getaway accomplice, a hit man/woman posing as an informant or something else, an affiliate in a child pornography ring, someone offering a bribe, one of his ex wives. His nephew Tony also seems shady and could have played getaway accomplice or assassin.

Ive never read a published alibi for Emma Gricar, ex wife #2, and what I’ve read as alibi for Barbara Gray ex wife #1 seems spotty. Maybe those published alibis exist. Haven’t seen much discussion here about them possibly being involved, especially Emma. Either one could have assisted in walking, or could have murdered. Patty F has an alibi but it’s a possibility that she sent Ray to Lewisburg to meet an arranged demise. Doubtful she helped him walk away.

Not much can be ruled out. Not much is known. Law enforcement has kept things under wraps. Would love to know what hasn’t been revealed to the public. My guess is we know most of what they know that actually happened, but we don’t know a lot of what they have ruled out through investigations and why.

Long rant, haven’t posted in awhile, that’s my take as of early 2025.

Emma has said that there was no contact since the 2001 divorce. I do not know exactly were she was. She was not living in the State College area at the time. I think she was living near Philadelphia at the time, but it was not close to Lewisburg

BG was living in State College, though she had been teaching in Europe (Belgium) in the early part of 2005, prior to RFG's disappearance. I am interested in her whereabouts on 4/15-4/17/05. I also am interested in her whereabouts on the Memorial Day weekend in 2005.

why would the exes be involved so long after the divorces (hypothetically)?

BG and RFG were still in contact and had a child in common. They also lived in the same county.

I’m sorry, but I’ve forgotten so much. Why Memorial Day?

Anything is possible between divorcees. There are dozens of feasible hypothetical scenarios just involving his ex wives.

The Southfield sighting. Two witnesses, a retired police officer who was a sketch artist and his daughter, put RFG there on the Friday of that weekend. He was seen with an older woman; that could have been BG.

Thanks JJ. Interesting.

I am looking at the possibility of a "helper," someone who helped RFG leave the area. I have a list of people who could be helpers, potentially. At the top of that list right now is BG.
If I were LE, I would be looking to see if she purchased an additional vehicle around the time of RFG's disappearance and what happened to that vehicle, along with her whereabouts on 4/15-17/05 and on 5/27-28/05. We might find that she didn't buy a vehicle since 1995, and that she is accounted for on those dates. That would eliminate her as a potential helper.

weird to me if there was some one else in the car smoking that there was no DNA... not easy to get into a car without ever touching any part of it (door, door handle, seat, etc.)

Someone leaning in could. So could someone reaching in to get something.
