things are just too quiet......

I know, it's maddening :maddening:

The family hasn't spoken in awhile either. Last article I think is Sept. 11; right after the prayer vigil.

Kortne, where are you?

I've never had a response about my request for records of the police logs, re: FOIA, or any replies from media I have e-mailed asking why they are not pursing this, and other issues themselves. I do NOT believe in conspiracies, but good grief, this case is looking pretty strange.

It's scary, isn't it? I feel like we in general feel like we are in a bubble here in central pa. Eg, my ex-SIL thought it was ridiculous that I locked the doors when I was babysitting her daughter at night. I see women running or walking alone in isolated areas (like a wooded park) with headphones on and the music loud enough for me to hear. People don't lock their cars. I could go on and on about this as this "it can't happen here" mindset drives me crazy...possibly because I am a little paranoid...but I understand why many people (IMO) feel this way. I hope I don't offend anyone because I know that central pa is safer than many places; I just can't imagine leaving stuff unlocked or not trying to be aware of my surroundings when I'm running. :fence:
Don't jog/walk w/ earphones b/c then you can't hear what's around you...
Don't bike/walk/jog hike alone..
Don't leave your doors, windows, yard open at day or night...
Have burglar alarms installed in your home...
Have cameras installed in your home..
Don't let your children walk to...fill in the blank...____________
Don't let kids go to mall unsupervised evry single minute...
Don't let them go to grocery store alone..
Don't let them go to school functions alone...

There is a scream waiting in the back of my throat...

This case baffles me. I really thought there were people who looked like they'd clearly become POIs when the case first started.

Now, all I can say is forget the psychics...and call TES or Klaas Kids. (Not poo-pooing psychics, but I don't think we're at a last resort option yet....there need to be more ground searches for Kortne!)

I just read an interesting quote today that I needed to hear and thought I'd share with all of you.

"Don’t be discouraged. It’s often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock." Author Unknown

Somebody out there has that key.

I think after LE was called the first time and KS started stomping on the floor
the guy that stayed the night took KS and they went out for a walk and maybe a cigarette he had to get her away from there and get her to calm down...he knows the cops would get called again so he took her out....The cops came and knocked on the door they were not there....

They come back he crashes for a bit and leaves. This is what I think happend!and would explain why no one answered when they knocked.
I do NOT think this CP guy is responsible.

I also do not understand why no one has searched for her since she went missing.
I do believe LE has information as to who she went with Im thinking her cell phone holds the key.....maybe the last call!

Maybe KS took off!

Oh I think someone knows where she is.

But for some odd reasoon no one is searching for her!

My guess and this is only by past cases is If she was killed they will find her very very close to the areas she went missing from!

Thanks for this Palmyra Dad ... I just pray someone has the courage to even try the key to see if it fits ....

Because of the ages and "petty crimes" amongst the members of her circle of friends, I keep thinking of Jennifer Cave. I guess in part because I just read the book about her death. She was known to be responsible about getting to her jobs, but irresponsible in her personal life, associating with drug users and dealers, and slipping in and out of dependence on drugs. For those unfamiliar, she was shot to death (possibly accidentally), and her killers caught because her employer contacted her parents who drove several hours to the apartment of the last person to have seen her, when a series of phone calls to her acquaintances were largely fruitless.

I know that LE DOES frequently regard drug users and people who flit from job to job, apartment to apartment, and sign up for classes that they proceed to drop, semester after semester as "high risk" and (to some degree) "disposable". In Jennifer's case, the parents found her car AND the car of the man she had been seen with last were both located in parking lots adjacent to the young man's apartment. Using spare keys, they were able to enter her car, but found nothing useful.

Several times, they called LE to come out to the apartment, expressing their concern that their daughter was inside and might be in need of medical attention, but were informed that the police could not enter without a warrant, and that there wasn't enough "reasonable cause" to think she was inside. But her family would not let it go. Eventually a group of her relatives took the drastic step of breaking a window to get inside, where they found her partially dismembered in the bathtub. THAT prompted LE to come back out.

The man she had been with the night before was seen on video at a hardware store purchasing items like trash bags, rubber gloves, febreeze, spot cleaner, and a hacksaw which he claimed was to be used to cut up a frozen turkey he wanted to fry. Now, between the fact that one does not cut up a turkey prior to frying it, and the cautions about NEVER frying a turkey that is not completely thawed, it was preposterous.

If not for the constant calls from her mother and stepdad to him, including their threats to contact LE, there is little doubt that Jennifer would have been completely dismembered and disposed of, likely never to be found. Besides being shot in the torso (bullet traveled through her arm and into her chest) and another bullet fired into her severed head, NOBODY reported hearing any sort of disturbance.

It is probably very difficult to do, but Kortne's family needs to investigate on their own if they feel police are not taking the disappearance seriously, due to the company she keeps. Like the Cave's, THEY know their daughter better than anyone, and while she may dance to the beat of a different drummer, they know her habits, and what is in character and out of character for her, whether she is on drugs or not. They need to nag police, question people Kortne was known to hang out with, and keep notes of these conversations. They need to file FOIA forms for ALL the available information on the case, and might even consider a PI.

There are plenty of local and national reporters who would love a one on one with the parents, IF they are willing to come out and tell the truth and their own frustations with LE. I felt JVM had to pull teeth to get info out of them on her show....to me it seemed obvious they were stifling themselves, perhaps warned by LE not to say much. I think it's time to come out with it all....what they know, what they want to know, what they aren't being told, what their frustrations are, etc.....The news of Kortne is fading quickly, pretty soon her case will be low priority, if it isn't already. The public needs to become passionate about Kortne through her loved ones....her parents hold the key to revving this case up again and forcing answers.
I'm thinking they are afraid to go agains LE's advice for whatever reason.
Does anyone know her parents well enough to suggest them going forward to let the story out?

I believe a key lies with information from the police officer who scoped out Kortne's apartment complex after the neighbor called 911 at 4:15am.

Who did the officer see in the complex if anyone?
what vehicles did the officer note in the parking area?
did the officer speak to anyone?
What does the patrol car's camera show?
what does the officer's report show?

I don't like it one bit; when I come to Kortne's thread and see no new news or updates. It really pizzes me off that LE refuses to release any information....more so that there are no real investigative reporters anymore...what happened to asking why, why, why until you get some answers. Sorry for the rant but I am so frustrated.

Kortne, where are you???

Hi, Scorekeeper, at times, there is just no news. Law enforcement is not a media service; they are an investigative body. Premature release of leads can stop a case in its tracks. In this case, everything will probably be on hold publicly until a body is found.

As for the police or others intentionally painting a disputable picture of Kortne, I think that the details of her life style and, more importantly, her last known day emerged in different ways and, to be frank, spurred interest in the case in venues including this. Kortne was not a monster because of apartment arguments or drinking or arguments, but the story of those last 24 hours do present images of a beautiful young woman caught in a very volatile and vulnerable night.

I do hope some one is brought to justice. Every time I see Kortne's picture, I think of what a sad loss this is.

Haven't posted in a while, but I check the thread and PennLive daily. It's frustrating to see no forward movement. This may be a long shot, but would a grassroots movement get results? I'm not even sure what I mean -- a petition, a peaceful sit-in at the police station, a city/borough council meeting, etc.?

Perhaps it was different for us in south Louisiana. We can be closely related. Several groups, the majority French speakers, coming from either Canada or France. Spain. First Nations. Africans. The same religion, seperated by time & culture. In any room of 50 people you can be blood related to 25, & through inter-familial relations or friendships, you can find common ground w/ the other 25. It began as a rural, agrarian society. We hold on to that it a time of crisis. Inter-connected by our culture, we all reacted & demanded the same: find her, & if not, find who took her.

Her family had volunteers, sold t-shirt, bracelets, buttons. They never gave up.

Don't give up for Kortne...grass-roots...hell yeah!! Draw up petitions...call congressmen, senators, governors, mayors, state representatives. They answer to YOU. Hang out in front of Wal-Mart w/ a petition for people to sign. Go door to door for support. Try to find the something, someone, who can help w/ the puzzle of what happened. Don't dwell upon anything but your goal.

FiGHT. FIGHT NOW.

There are some who say Mickey, being a middle class, respectable college student, was able to garner support. Cajuns, Creoles, they kept it going. Find Mickey.. Maybe it was easier b/c she had a vibrant, educated life-style. It's easier for some to find empathy in traits they respect.

In the long run, we cannot judge, it's not given to us... 'good' lifestyle or risky..sentient beings deserve respect. They also deserve justice. We all just want to live our lives & be safe, whether or not our goals & life-styles are different.

FIGHT FOR KORTNE,
Just as we fought for Mickey, just as we should have fought for Lisa Pate, Jaren Lockhart, the girls from Jeff Davis parish, all of the victims who didn't have a voice, didn't have a community that rose up & defended her. Because they were different.

DON'T GIVE UP. ask questions, demand answers.

Make a timeline. Learn to dissect every minutiae of the first 72 hours.

it's up to you to carry that banner. its up to you to vindicate her. Do it..she's yours.

BRING HER HOME.

I wish the family would take the lead in any kind of a "protest" or calls for attention. I can't imagine why they are not. Per Mom's FB page posts, they don't seem to have any info at all, that we don't have. Her mom only posts pleading requests for anyone who knows anything, how much she misses Kortne, etc...
