I wish the family would take the lead in any kind of a "protest" or calls for attention. I can't imagine why they are not. Per Mom's FB page posts, they don't seem to have any info at all, that we don't have. Her mom only posts pleading requests for anyone who knows anything, how much she misses Kortne, etc...

Hasthe family hired a PI?

I know Kortne's father had upsetting news from the psychics he consulted with, and perhaps they were not on the mark. I do believe there are valid psychics out there each who can tune into specific readings more than others... Since LE seems to have absolutely nothing, which is pretty much admitted to by the parents also, perhaps it's time to try that route again? Short of that, this investigation looks like it won't be moving forward at all. This case seems to pretty much have fizzled since the first week. Interesting though...I have to point this out....the LAST and only information the police released was to say that Kortne had a drinking party with a bunch of guys and she was the only one of legal age and some other not-so-pleasant things to say about her, and then nothing...nothing before, nothing after....I have to wonder if LE didn't purposely paint her in a bad light, as if to make it seem as if fould play would be no big surprise for someone of her character. Am I the only one who noticed that? Point out Kortne's flaws, but don't arrange for ponds to be searched, or do helicopter searches, or put REALLY credible info out there for the public to ponder on that might actually help generate some clues. (what? do i sound like i'm being sarcastic?)

Would love to hear from Soulscape or LeoMoon on this.

Haven't posted in a while, but I check the thread and PennLive daily. It's frustrating to see no forward movement. This may be a long shot, but would a grassroots movement get results? I'm not even sure what I mean -- a petition, a peaceful sit-in at the police station, a city/borough council meeting, etc.?

You just voiced the same thoughts that I was having last night!
Yesterday when I came out of the grocery store (Giant on 39) I walked past a parked car with Kortne bumper stickers under it's driver and passenger side windows, there was a woman sitting in the car and for a moment I thought about going over to talk to her but didn't. The rest of the evening my mind just kept drifting back to that and also trying to figure out what a fresh and effective course of action to help Kortne and her family would be. I'm stumped right now...but I can see how a community effort is going to be a necessary key. The church that organized the recent prayer vigil went ahead and did that independent of the family from what I gather...and I know that was appreciated. I think any well thought out initiative would help, let's keep brainstorming.

Good morning!

Maybe we could compile a list of questions and email them to Kortne's family's attorney.

Just a thought.

I feel for families thrown into a situation like this, beyond the obvious loss of a loved one. I know I would have no idea what to do or when to do it. On the one hand, you want to do anything and everything possible to bring your family member home. On the other hand, you are being advised by LE on what to do, and apparently that includes not discussing the specifics of the case publicly. At some point, though, after LE is getting no where, it seems families finally start to take a more assertive role in the search, realizing that LE's approach isn't working, but the problem is, that usually means quite some time has passed, invaluable time.

I know the family hired a relatively high profile attorney locally. I thought at one time it was stated one of the reasons was so he could help bring attention to Kortne's case in the media. Well, maybe it's time he starts to earn his money. Surely, along with the lawyer comes private investigators. Use them if you're not already. If you are, let people know so they know there is someone else that can be contacted if they're not comfortable going to LE. Unless they have very good reason to believe LE is on top of it and it's just not being shared with everyone else, maybe it's time to take that more assertive position. I just hate to see so much time being burned with little, if anything, being done.

The reward money raised for anyone who has info leading to Kortne? Well, i dont think anyone, including Kortne or her parents, would object to using that money to hire a good PI or a professional to conduct searches. Perhaps her parents need to go back on JVM and kick up some dirt this time. One would swear her parents had more info from LE due to their passiveness...but then they publicly say theres nothing and beg for someone to return her. God Bless them please, but give them the courage and strength to start getting angry. Really, they are the only ones who can put this into motion again.

I think that is a great idea. Who knows, maybe just a few questions could be answered. I would like to ask general questions about Kortne making her more 'personable' to the audiences following or just seeing this case. She was shown in an unflattering light IMO What was her passion in life? What as her favorite music? Obviously, she had dogs, how is the dog doing w/ out her? I would like to hear adjectives to describe her (fiery, stubborn, loving, hyper, calm, etc., etc.).

Has the family recv'd ANY help from LE in conducting searches, tips, etc.? Are they doing their own searches around the area? Do they know which neighbor called the cops and why they weren't awake/aware when/if LE came back? Do THEY believe LE came back? Does her b/f search, have any ideas? Are they still in contact w/ her 'sleeping friend'? Do they believe Kortne would of stomped on the floor in sort of hissy fit or would she back off eventually? Has she ever complained about any neighbor prior to the day she went missing (before the previous party the day/night/morning before, when the underage drinking occurred as well)?

Those are just a few off the top of my head.

You might want to run that by a mod first. I am pretty sure it is against TOS to contact victims or their families on behalf of Websleuths. I could be wrong though?

Is there a public access TV channel in Palmyra? There's one in Reading, so I figured I'd ask. Also, what are the closest colleges/universities -- HACC and Penn State Harrisburg, or somewhere else? Do any of them have an administration of justice program -- or a related student club that might be interested in tackling Kortne's case?

I doubt they would be given any info to work with from LE, since it is a new and presumably on-going investigation.

I really think it is up to the family to make a fuss, at this point. Not sure why they involved a lawyer/spokesperson if no one was going to speak out on their behalf.

If they are NOT using a lawyer to speak out, I could def. see them getting one b/c of the neighbors KS had. Possibly threatening to call the cops on them for lurking or what not, they might of sought one for a form of protection or to see how far they could go w/ searches/asking questions/etc.?!

From my experience, people who calls the cops aren't first time callers. They are usually persistent, constantly annoyed, and/or bored. I really do hate having a scanner sometimes, people call in the stupidest complaints and it's usually repeat callers. Also, the cops know who they are dealing with most of the time (w/ repeat callers anyway).

I really wish we had a verified poster in Kortne's case; would be helpful to know what advice, if any, the family is getting, how aware they are of groups that may be able to help them, or how to get in touch with people who have been through this, and eventually had to speak out on their own once they saw that LE was either not making any strides, or not keeping them informed.

I really thought that when they seemingly had a spokesperson early on, a legal professional, that we would be hearing about Kortne all the time through him, from her family.

Yes, vigils are good, etc...but they don't seem to be producing any real leads. Questions need to be asked of LE; while I understand that they do not have to release info during an active investigation, it was LE who brought up the Freedom of Info Act in relation to the police logs and yet it appears that media has not requested them. I tried, but not getting any response at all. Has the family tried, I wonder?

It's sad to see that no new developments have come out of this case. It just seems like this case is going to go cold, and maybe we will never know the answers.

Just out of curiosity, would they need to be given info by LE to do an independent investigation? Wondering if friends would be more likely to talk to someone that isn't LE. I could be watching too much Investigation Discovery ... :) ... but aren't there PI's that will donate their services or give a break on costs?

No one would need cooperation from LE if they just want to talk to people; I was thinking more about wanting to find out about that last police visit, which seems to be crucial.

Sometimes PI's will donate time, but not sure how one would find one who would, without calling them one by one.

I would have thought finding a PI to help would have been one more function that lawyer would serve. I just don't see what function or purpose he is serving. Maybe there is more going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, but I would like to know what, if anything, he's doing for the family.

Doubtful....Kortnes mom's fb page this morning reflects "discouraged"...doesnt sound like there is anything hopeful going on so we can probably toss the theory of " maybe the cops are sitting on something and trying to keep it quiet" out the window.

PA Rebecca Mertz,PA - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

This lady, Becky, recently went missing- last seen about an hour away from where Kortne was last seen...

Not sure this would be at all related to Kortne as this woman texted family and friends indicating she was going to hurt herself, she had also bought a gun.
They still have not found this woman, but I don't think it is even remotely intertwined with Kortne's disappearance. moo.

I don't usually "bump" cases up to the front page, as it always knocks someone else back...but Kortne's case is not quite two months along and there has been NOTHING about her in the media for ages, other than reports of vigils. This is beyond ridiculous. It is as clear as it can be that she did not just walk off, IMO. Is anything at all being done?
