KB,

I am using the Attachment Manager and browsing my PC. Maybe the pix are too large. I was able to post my dog REXX to my album, but nothing else.

Scotland? I am half Scot, half Italian - how did that happen? Only in America for sure. I am a hybrid!

oh yes...Heinz 57 me...dutch surname, but loads of other stuff in there!

yes, the pics might be too large...if you click on the attachment icon (paperclip), it should bring up a list with the different file extensions and the maximum sizes. what do you use to view your photos on your pc? that way i can tell you how to see what extension the file has, for example .jpg, .gif, etc.

if you still have trouble, PM me...i'm conscious that we're getting off the topic here & don't want us to get in trouble about it :s
i might even let you email it to me if you want & i'll sort it out for you...just PM me :)

I have a question, was the baby delivered or removed as part of the killers doing? Could she have died during child birth and someone panicked?

If the baby had been delivered or removed, I doubt that they would have referred to it as a fetus. It would have become a newborn.

You are so lucky - KB. I have always wanted to visit Scotland - what a beautiful place. Are you in Edenburough? (how do you spell that?)

Your hubby is from Scotland?

What I can tell you is that I was is a victim of a sex crime when I was in my teens - that got me interested in crime. My assualt was never solved.

Trishpa - maybe we can do the planting together in the spring. Let me know if you are interested.

wow, Stacey--I'm really sorry that you had to endure such horrible violence :( and I'm really sorry that the monster who did it was never caught. I am glad, however, that you are still here with us and that you are channelling your negative experience into positives, i.e. helping others. bless you, my dear xox

is that the Federal Gov't? can you retire after 25 years? that's what my dad did!

I answered your Scotland questions via PM :)

Hi,

I haven't read everything about this case yet, but, I have a question.

Have they taken DNA from the baby? Maybe the dad of baby can be matched to baby? Then the dad of baby can identify "Beth".

  • #231
She was exhumed in 2007 for DNA purposes. Nothing yet.

Thanks, you are talking about the baby? or Beth?

I am assuming if it was the baby's father that did this to her mother.. he must have a criminal record elsewhere.

from what I've read, they took Beth's DNA, but I don't know about the baby. It would have been useful, you're right...

StaceyK, do you know if they sampled the baby's DNA?

Oh my gosh. I am so sorry that happened to you. As horrible as that must have been, it has most likely given you tremendous insight into what is going on out in the "real world". May also be why you are able to connect with so many of the victims in these cases. I hope one day your case is solved.

I was going to suggest that I would help you plant in the spring but I didn't want to appear lazy. I hate the cold weather and would love to help you plant after winter :)

Is this case in NamUS? Is there a list of women who have been ruled out using the DNA extracted?

I worry Beth was never reported missing to being with. It seems like she was most likely killed by a boyfriend or husband, perhaps she was an immigrant and did not have any family here. The fact the killer apparently took her nose and ears throws a little wrench in the husband did it theory as that behaviour seems more ritualistic as opposed to dismembering her because he 'had' to and makes me wonder if she was not a victim of a serial killer. She could have been hitch-hiking and was picked up by the wrong guy.

Was it ever established if she had been sexually assaulted?

If this is a case of a serial killer does anyone think Beth Doe and "Lady of the Dunes' cases could be connected? They were both dismembered, they both had body parts removed which were never found (LOD had her hands removed), it is roughly in the same area and the two women look similar according to the composites. Just an idea.

That's an interesting idea, and the two women certainly do look similar. I thought they also looked a lot like the unidentified woman from Utah: http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/200ufut.html

Lady of the Dunes wasn't really dismembered, though. Just her hands, and that was probably for identification.

You're right. I mis-read her head as being severed from her body using a tool but it says it was almost severed. Big difference.

They do all resemble eachother. It is fascinating they were able to tell the JD from Utah moved about every two months and were able to pinpoint the areas in which she traveled just by doing an analysis of her hair.

Yes, that isotope analysis is amazing, isn't it? I suppose if she was only around 20, waist-length hair means it had never been cut, so that's quite an extensive history. And to have moved that often -- migrant farm family? Gypsy/Romany?

Hm, I wonder -- might Beth have been Romany? Mediterranean, honor killing? And how's that for a segue back onto topic? :winkaway:
