People being detained and "exported" by ICE

"A federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration Friday from deporting people who have exhausted legal appeals to countries other than their own without first being allowed to argue that it would jeopardize their safety.

The decision is a setback for an administration that has sent people to countries including Panama, Costa Rica and El Salvador when it is difficult to deport them to their homelands."

Don't know what this guy thought he was up to.

A man was charged for posing as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Washington state, according to police.

Ilya Kukhar, 26, was charged on Thursday for impersonating an ICE officer after he allegedly drove a vehicle that "displayed prominent emblems with large letters spelling 'I.C.E' along with a pseudo-seal of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security"

The presence of the vehicle "appeared intentional, targeting a Ukrainian grocery store" which indicated a "deliberate effort to intimidate and draw attention to itself," police said.

Witnesses told officials that the "occupant(s)" of the vehicle were "recording employees and customers on video, causing alarm and concern," police said.

I don't support anyone being deported if they haven't gone through proper legal processes.

It's all very reminiscent of McCarthyism. Though maybe even worse. imo

Senator McCarthy stirred up further fear in the United States of communists infiltrating the country by saying that communist spies were omnipresent, and he was America's only salvation, using this fear to increase his own influence.

Exactly this. The Tufts student, Rumeysa Ozturk, who was grabbed off the street by plain clothes ICE officers wearing masks. Marco Rubio spoke out and said they were deporting these people for violating their visas, however, if that was the case, she should have first received a letter stating that her visa status was being revoked and the letter should have explained the reasons for that. THEN she should have had a court date regarding her visa status where she could present evidence or argue against her visa status being revoked. Randomly grabbing people on the street and immediately sending them to another state without any due process is 100% illegal.

And they are starting with people here on legal visas but it will escalate from there, no doubt in my mind. No one is safe from this. IMO

Most of the cases I've heard about of highly educated people who are being deported involve green-card holders who TBH weren't following rules about political speech and activism. They do not have complete freedom of speech the way citizens do.

Not true.

"In 1903, the Court in the Japanese Immigrant Case reviewed the legality of deporting an alien who had lawfully entered the United States, clarifying that an alien who has entered the country, and has become subject in all respects to its jurisdiction, and a part of its population could not be deported without an opportunity to be heard upon the questions involving his right to be and remain in the United States.<a href="https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artI-S8-C18-8-7-2/ALDE_00001262/#ALDF_00015326">1</a> In the decades that followed, the Supreme Court maintained the notion that once an alien lawfully enters and resides in this country he becomes invested with the rights guaranteed by the Constitution to all people within our borders.<a href="https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artI-S8-C18-8-7-2/ALDE_00001262/#ALDF_00015327">2</a>""

In fact, Russian scientist Petrova was detained by US CBP officers for purposely trying to smuggle frog embryos without declaring them (that's what her cell phone data says.) Thus, she's violated her visa conditions which led to the visa's been revoked. I's kind of a careless behavior to me.

Then she deserves to answer to those charges in a court of law. She deserves due process. I think that's the point. Charge her, have a trial. If guilty, deny entry/deport her. But stick to the laws of the land.

MOO.

I'm so glad that some of the wrongs from the last few years are being reversed. Many repeat violent criminals have been caught and deported.

I, personally, have no problem whatsoever with criminals being deported. I just want due process so that innocent people don't get caught up in this. I want full transparency. If we want to catch and deport bad guys, then we have to do it the way good guys would. It's the foundation of our Constitution.

MOO.

Don't you mean "unless they haven't gone through proper legal process"?
I don't want to put words in their mouth, but I believe they are saying that the established guidelines for deportation need to be followed. Right now the current administration is blatantly disregarding the orders of the judge

A still-grieving mom whose daughter was allegedly raped and murdered by an illegal immigrant ripped the judges who put the brakes on President Trump’s deportation flights — and their Democrat enablers who’d rather “harbor” criminals than protect victims.
(…)
“I think this is just a weak attempt by Democrats and liberals to just stir up chaos and fear — which is the only thing they really know how to do,” she said.

“It really saddens me that all these politicians choose to harbor people that have committed federal crime.”

She continued: “I don’t understand. The law should be black and white, either you break the law or you uphold the law. There’s no gray area.”

205 of those arrested had significant criminal convictions or charges. Six were foreign fugitives currently facing charges or convictions for murder, drug trafficking, organized crime, and money laundering

Law enforcement officials seized approximately 44 kilograms of methamphetamines, 5 kilograms of fentanyl, 1.2 kilograms of cocaine, three firearms and ammunition from illegal alien offenders during the operation.

While I completely agree with removing individuals involved in criminal behavior on American soil, for some reason, I have a tendency not to commit wholeheartedly to any news update created by ice.gov. I'd prefer to hear that from a non-biased source.
