Noem led about 100 federal agents on an early morning raid in Arizona’s capital Tuesday where they nabbed three illegal migrants wanted on charges including weapons and drug offenses to running a money laundering operation.

The Post was there as she dodged kicks from a suspect wearing slip-on shoes, and gamely told him, “you’re not scaring me with your Croc.”

What a click bait article! It didn't appear that the man was trying to kick her. In front of cameras, she spoke with one detained with a level of respect. I can only imagine what goes on off camera.

This was a lot of manpower devoted to this raid that netted 3 individuals

The article even says "he raised his Croc shoe in an attempt to block out the camera". Maybe she shouldn't have been standing where the camera was ... but we all know this was another photo op for Noem. Just like her photo op in El Salvador.

Human rights groups rebuke Kristi Noem’s visit to El Salvador prison: ‘political theater’

imo

“It raises the question, if they are legitimate law enforcement agents carrying out a proper arrest under the law, why are they hiding their identities?” Miller said.

As Trump’s immigration crackdown continues, ethics questions are being raised over the use of masked federal agents
That's a good question. It opens the door for imposters to target the immigration community.

For those that don't see the illegal detention of these people as a problem, next he's coming for citizens. Regarding the prison in El Salvador, he said, “Perhaps they could serve them in the prisons of El Salvador, which have become so recently famous for such lovely conditions!”. He's being sarcastic and everyone knows he is talking about the inhumane way in which prisoners are treated there. MOO.

There are already imposters, and apparently it is on the rise.

In Sullivan’s Island SC, in Philadelphia PA, and in Raleigh NC ...
Multiple ICE impersonation arrests made during nationwide immigration crackdown

In Florida ...

In Seattle ....

yeah there were no kicks visible, just a man with his leg extended to keep out of his personal space while he was handcuffed and in the back of a vehicle as she leaned it over him. His leg didn't move, it was simply held there in front of him in the air preventing her from getting any closer to him. Click bait indeed, certainly pushes the desired party line narrative though to call it "kicks" doesn't it? Makes one imagine her ducking and weaving as a dangerous criminal attempts to assault her.

EVERY American should be concerned about this right here. Not only does he want to be able to deport those American citizens who commit serious crimes but also "lesser" ones. Such as? Disagreeing with him? I think it's a valid question. We've already seen how tattoos and social media are being used to determine who are the illegal or undocumented in this country.

How will he deport those of us whose only crime is loudly disagreeing with him and his administration? Our social media. It's terrifying that Americans have elected a king, and this specific one in particular. A vengeful unintelligent little man with a position of power he refuses to acknowledge has LIMITS. MOO

I’m not sure if this was posted yesterday. AG Pam Bondi discussing Maryland man mistakenly sent to El Salvador. When I played the video my dh asked who it was. When I told him he said, “She sounds like a highschool mean girl.”

"U.S. judges in Texas and New York dealt blows on Wednesday to President Donald Trump's effort to revive deportations of alleged Venezuelan gang members under a wartime law after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a nationwide ban on such removals.

Wednesday's U.S. District Court rulings in Texas and New York apply only to migrants still in the United States.

In Texas, U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez granted the ACLU's request, blocking any such deportations of migrants held at the El Valle Detention Center in Raymondville, Texas, through April 23.

At a court hearing in Manhattan, U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein said he would order that any Venezuelan migrant in his southern New York district must receive notice and a hearing before being deported under the Alien Enemies Act .... his order would remain in effect until April 22.

After the hearing, ACLU lawyer Lee Gelernt told reporters the group would "go district by district" to seek orders blocking Alien Enemies Act deportations."

"White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt mentioned President Donald Trump’s “idea” to potentially deport “violent” and “heinous” U.S. citizens, adding a seemingly important caveat: “If it’s legal.”

It’s not.

But that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Indeed, Justice Sonia Sotomayor warned just a day earlier of the possibility.

Sotomayor wrote that the implications of the Trump administration’s legal stance is that “not only noncitizens but also United States citizens could be taken off the streets, forced onto planes, and confined to foreign prisons with no opportunity for redress if judicial review is denied unlawfully before removal.” "

Recent article by Trump’s niece Mary Trump regarding the deportations to El Salvador.

Here's an incomplete list of some of the men who have been wrongfully detained and illegally transported to the notorious CECOT mega-prison:
  • Franco Tiapa, 26, from Venezuela who was simply deported for having the wrong kind of tattoo.
  • Daniel Camargo, a 20 year old asylum seeker deported for a tattoo of his daughter’s name and praying hands.
  • Neri Borges, a Dallas man, who was arrested and deported because of an autism awareness tattoo he got in honor of his brother.
  • Luis Carlos Jose Marcano Silva, a 26-year-old barber who was detained at an immigration hearing in Miami last month because he has a tattoo of Jesus of Nazareth and one of his daughters name.
  • Jerse Reyes Barrios, a former professional footballer who was deported based on a tattoo of a soccer ball with a crown on top of it, in honor of his favorite soccer team, Real Madrid.
  • Francisco Casique, who was deported for having tattoos that say “Live in the Moment” and “Family” in Spanish.

Historian Timothy Snyder has also written about the deportation to El Salvador. Lots to think about.

The individuals involved are declaring their power to define reality, independently not only of judicial but of all verification. There is no basis for this deportation beyond speech acts and keyboard acts. The words ("foreign alien terrorists," "monsters") are doing the work. There are no procedures between the movement of mouths and the movement of bodies. If members of the executive branch are allowed to issue truth claims that have the consequence that human beings leave the United States, we are in a dictatorship. If we accept that the executive branch can simply deport anyone they call a "foreign alien terrorist," then none of us has any rights.

Timothy Snyder wrote “On Tyranny” which I have linked a number of times. In this link, actor John Lithgow reads the introduction. It’s quite compelling.

He is a very eloquent and concise writer of facts. imo

We must consider just how the words are selected and what they are meant to do to us.

"Foreign" means that they are not us.
"Alien" means that we should hate them.
"Terrorist" means that we should hate them enough to allow a state of exception, a suspension of normal practices, a change of regime.

There is a long history of this, all around the world, including Hitler in 1933 and Stalin in 1934.

(from your link)

All of Donald and Co's language is hateful towards those they deem of "lesser" status than them.
Violent, foreign, heinous, monsters, aliens, criminals, peasants etc etc all used to feed the fear and insecurities of ignorant people who would rather believe their neighbour of a different religion or skin tone is their enemy than open their eyes and see what is really happening.
America's enemy is the dictator that is the 47th president and his administration.
Until someone grows a pair of balls and stands up to the abhorrent criminal orange man in the White House, whom may I add, American Taxpayers are paying for to house him there - one of the worst criminals in modern day, then America is on a one way street to disaster.
When ICE rounds up MAGA for simply having a tattoo perhaps someone will say something about human rights being violated, freedom of speech and expression being oppressed, blatant lies and fiction being spread.
American people who voted for trump and those who simply didnt bother voting need to take a long hard look in the mirror and reflect upon what they've created and allowed to happen.
Shame on you.

Moo, jmo, imo

"A group of House Democrats warned Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer in a letter Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s immigration policies could lead to health care worker shortages.

A 2024 report from LeadingAge, an organization representing nonprofit aging services providers, found that immigrants make up 31% of the home care workforce, 21% of the nursing assistant workforce, 21% of the residential care aide workforce and 30.3% of the nursing home housekeeping and maintenance workforce.

The letter has been signed by over 40 House Democrats ... also endorsed by several unions, including the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees and the Service Employees International Union."

More and more districts holding court cases to block the illegal deportations.

This case in Boston, yesterday cases in NY and Texas (as per my previous link). It is encouraging that people are trying to do something about it - despite them having to go district to district to do so.

U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy during a hearing in Boston pressed a lawyer for the administration on how migrants subject to final deportation orders could be assured due process under guidance issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
