THAT IS NOT A US GOVT DOCUMENT - EVEN THOUGH YOU GIVE THE IMPRESSION IT IS.
It is
testimony before Congress by Steven A. Camarota Research Center of Immigration Studies a think-tank criticized by the conservative CATO Institute for using, dubious sources, tortured data and out lies to demonize immigrants.
The Southeern Poverty Law Center has completely debunked the right-wing think tank, including it under its "hate watch."
Center for Immigration Studies debunked
CIS’s veneer of legitimacy starts with its motto on the top of its website claiming the group is “low-immigration, pro-immigrant.” But the truth is that
CIS was founded by white nationalist John Tanton (the racist architect of the modern anti-immigrant movement)
CIS claims and propagandizes constantly
1) Relationship between
ICE and undocumented immigrants is unfairly misunderstood
2) Immigrants are
criminals and terrorists
3) Immigrants
use a disproportionate amount of welfare
4) Immigrants
negatively affect the U.S. economy
5) Public wants to reduce immigration.
Again, thank you for providing us with more information about your opinions and their origins.
Thanks soooo much for picking up on the source of the testimony of Steven A. Camarota linked by
@fred&edna. Good work!
SPLC says about the organization:
Since 1985, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) has served as the anti-immigrant movement’s go-to think tank. The organizaton publishes dozens of reports and hundreds of blog pieces each year that are cited by elected officials and the media. But its reports have been widely criticized and...

CIS was founded by white nationalist John Tanton and throughout its 30-plus years of existence,
the group has promoted an immigration platform that has never strayed far from its origins. In between reports about the cost of undocumented immigration are others promoting age-old racist tropes about immigrants bringing disease into the country and blaming them for increases in crime, as well as fear-mongering around terrorism. In 2011, for instance, CIS attempted to add a “scholarly veneer” to the “
terror babies” concept, arguing that birthright citizenship left the nation at risk of raising future terrorists.

John Tanton was the racist architect of the modern anti-immigrant movement. He created a network of organizations – the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) and NumbersUSA – that profoundly shaped the immigration debate in the U.S.

This is not at all surprising, considering what Trump has said about immigrants…
Trump’s lies about Haitian immigrants were simply his latest rhetoric that dehumanizes and targets immigrant populations.
www.nbcnews.com
—On the day that Trump launched his first presidential bid in June 2015, he accused Mexico of “not sending the best” people.
“They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people. But I speak to border guards and they’re telling us what we’re getting,” he said, setting the tone for his MAGA movement.
—“I think the real number is 15, 16 million people into our country. When they do that, we got a lot of work to do. They’re poisoning the blood of our country.” [

—“They’re rough people, in many cases from jails, prisons, from mental institutions, insane asylums. You know, insane asylums, that’s ‘Silence of the Lambs’ stuff. ... Hannibal Lecter, anybody know Hannibal Lecter?” [

—“The Democrats say, ‘Please don’t call them animals. They’re humans.’ I said, ‘No, they’re not humans, they’re not humans. They’re animals.’” [

And more…although that is quite enough for anyone with a conscience to be disgusted.
