I think he was in the process of raping her and when he got her jeans/pants down saw she was on her period (because of the sanitary pad)....which may have further inflamed him at that point.

The deadline is 10am in the morning or he walks free.
I'm not at all worried about him being charged. I just hope it's something that will sentence him to a long time in prison. :behindbar MOO

I don't know why they have to wait till the very last second, but I guess they have their reasons.
Hopefully it's a good sign! :prayer:

She went with him because it appears that she trusted him - at least during the casino footage. Very comfortable being at the casino in general as well as with him at the table.

I get a different feeling about her during the hotel footage. If she wasn't drugged at that point, she may have begun to have some doubts, but didn't obey her instincts.

I agree with you...Maybe she appeared comfortable around him in the casino...because there were other people around...

Following behind him..in the hotel..she may had begun to feel..uneasy...But obviously, she did not leave...right away...

all in my own opinion

This is a possiblity of his ruse: He asks her back to his room to help him navigate South America, as he is a traveler. He needs help with language, locating areas to go, etc. per the laptop computer in his room.

I wonder if some prison time will be given for the robbery, that 3-5 years looks like it fits, but I think we need to know the definition of "simple murder'.
i think he's going to get 10 years.

IMO, I didn't see that she gave him money. I did see she put money on the table and sat down to the man away from him and the money was to her right. When she finally moved over to sit next to Joran, I didn't see the money on the table anymore.

I forgot we are in the era of "speed dating".

I always wondered why in the world she would have gone into his room, could it be that he had borrowed money from her or something and she followed him to make sure she'd get it back.... But still, it seems more likely she would wait in the lobby for it or get the help of staff to get it if that were the case (especially since her dad's friend reportedly runs the casino or is the owner or something). Anyway, I was waiting for the video to come out to see what we could see, and then the first time I saw it it did almost look like she'd handed him something at the table. But in the closeup I saw it was only a handshake, nothing handed to him. (At least in the video segments that have been released). Then she got out money that she put on the table. Then moved over to sit by him. Then preened a bit. Maybe she was actually a little interested in him, even if her female friend thinks she was a lesbian. I'm only speculating of course

I think to as the why's/why not's for the reasoning of why she would have gone to the room or even being found without pants. Is something that quite honestly we may never really know for several different reasons:

Young kids - hormones
Drugs - impairs judgement
Adults - sometimes are more level headed (Not always the case) so we might see something as wrong where they wouldn't necessarily see it that way.
Culture - Something often overlooked - Some things we might find wrong are not wrong in their culture. ie: My best friend who happens to be dutch. We still to this day tease him because a couple of years ago we were out having dinner at Outback and my daughter happened to start having a horrible tantrum. He thinking he would give me a break asked me if he could handle her for me and he took her outside. A little while later he walks in without her. I jumped out of my seat asking him where did he put her? He said he put her to wait in the car...lol I of course immediately went and got her. But it just goes to show how different culture is from place to place.

Environment - sometimes a person can be lulled into a false sense of security. Perhaps Stephany felt safe because she was well known.

The possibilities are endless

This is my opinion on when and why SF was killed...I think that they went into the room together to do drugs and to play some online poker...I think she was alive when he left for coffee and he had already robbed her of her money, thinking that she would not realize the money was gone (maybe she was in the bathroom when he took her money and left for coffee) and the reason she stayed in the room until he returned was to demand her money back and to give him a piece of her mind...At that point he realized that he was caught red handed and the only thing he could do was kill her.

I lived in Sweden for a year and people would change into their bathing suits right on the beach. Parents walked around with no clothes on, TV commercials showed complete nudity. It was the norm, but for me as an American this was shocking because of how we are raised regarding our bodies and how we perceive nudity on TV.

Yup Patty I know exactly what you are talking about :).

One day we'll have to start a thread and share our experiences :D downstairs.

I got some loo-loo's I tell ya! Especially giving birth abroad <snort>.

Cultural differences are fascinating. But one thing I have learned is that no matter where someone comes from IMHO they are all individuals and those individuals are very much like the rest of us ~ they have hopes, dreams and always want better for their children. JMHO.

Sorry for the off topic everyone!

This is a horrible thought, but needs to be addressed: What if he partially unclothed her in order to dismember her body? Then he decided not to. Remember the Pitonyak case.

The way I understood it was the FBI could not arrest Joran in Aruba.

I also understood that since Joran admitted to the crime of murder (in the FBI sting) then Aruba could have held him for 180 days but they didn't.

Same same.

It's amazing that he once again put himself in a position of having "strong knowledge" of NH's murder. You'd think a murderer would run, top speed, AWAY from LE. The young man seems to be hell bent on presenting himself as a principal in NH's death.....as demonstrated by this extortion plot. You'd think he'd want to distance himself as much as possible from the case and yet.....we find out.....he was basically terrorizing NH's family by contacting them recently. I think that young man is likely more deranged than we really realize.

I never heard about the 180 days. Did this come out recently?

Somebody else in here must have seen it. I think it was last night on Greta or somewhere. Again I'm foggy on who, what, and where because I don't watch a bunch of this stuff. I think it was someone that had some sort of relationship to BH's lawyer. He described how the lawyer went to Aruba and met with Joran. He stated that the FBI could not yet "get" Joran because building the case would take time, this was step one. It was added that the fact that Joran admitted on the video/tape that he did murder Natalee, he could be held by Aruba for 180 days.

THANK YOU!!!:blowkiss:
I'm having a real hard time trying to understand the rational behind blaming someone else for what JVDS CHOSE to do.
IMO, after 5 years this monster was STILL trying to prey on this woman, who I believe has NEVER stopped mourning the loss of her beautiful daughter...and probably never will. In the same situation, I'm sure I would have done the same thing....even KNOWING he's a lying 🤬🤬🤬....I'd want to believe, just maybe, this time, he might be willing to give me some sort of closure...or peace of mind about my childs final moments of life on this earth, and maybe return what's left of my child to me.
IMO, that poor excuse for a human has ALWAYS spent his life trying to swindle something out of anyone he's ever met....his friends attest to his lying to get money from them because he "needs food", etc. He preys on human weakness...he thinks someone would HAVE to send money to a "starving" friend...or to find their loved one after such torment for all these years.

Does anyone REALLY know what someone is capable of in a situation such as this? There are so many different scenarios where he could/would have gotten money to fund his trip....would these other people bear the blame for this senseless murder??

In my heart of hearts (and we have a murder victim in the family) I have to say she is a better woman than I am. If the killer of my family member (who is out walking the streets) contacted me five years later to torment me with the remains of my loved one I wouldn't have called the FBI. I would have spent the money to have him killed.

The audacity of him to contact her, to torment her for financial gain.... she much more gracious than I am.

My heart breaks for her that she is dealing with watching the death of another young girl at the hands of the man she has been been begging and literally moving the earth to try to lock up.

To blame her at all for the death of Stephany is just unfair in my eyes. 25k didn't kill Stephany. Joran's temper tantrum did.

He has been on a downward spiral since his father died. He was going to combust in a ball of rage somewhere. At least her money put him in a different jurisdiction that actually seems to plan on holding accountable for his actions.

I read JVDS is having steak when he wants it, and cigarettes if he wants it.

Hypothetically speaking~

If he is allowed this charge and sentence. Would he be able to only serve from 1/3 to 1/2 of the sentence? Say: the minimum could be as little as 1 year to 2.5 years? Just wondering.

Its possible.

This is a possiblity of his ruse: He asks her back to his room to help him navigate South America, as he is a traveler. He needs help with language, locating areas to go, etc. per the laptop computer in his room.

I agree this could be a possibility but....they were heading to the room in the very wee hours of the morning.....just before, or right at, dawn. They had both likely been up for hours and probably bordering on exhaustion. Also...I would think if help with geography was Joran's motive....he would have mentioned that to authorities.

It wouldn't surprise me if his private attorney is negotiating the best scenarios for him that are possible regarding all pending charges. He may very well finally tell where Natalee's remains are in exchange for dropping the extortion charge--but then I would expect that he would blame it all on daddy--the killing and disposal. Then possibly, in his mind, he would have a chance of walking away from everything he is facing in less than 5 years (if on good behavior).

I think this is where they are heading on this!

I understand where you are coming from. Don't get me wrong, I definitely understand wanting to get to the bottom of things but as my little ol Southern granny would say, "darlin, two wrongs...don't make a right".

I just think that they should have had a better game plan. I mean when they found out he lied about the location....why didn't they try to get the money back? Why didn't they place the money in a trust account until they were sure he wasn't lying? Now she's out of $25,000, they still don't have any answers and another young girl is dead. He's in jail for another murder in another country and they can't even bargain with him about Natalie b/c how could he benefit from telling anything about Natalie when that crime was not even committed in Peru?

BBM

-25,000
+ POSSIBILITY of finding my child’s remains and/or fate of her final moments
+ the possibility of the perpetrator being held accountable for at least some of his ill behavior---for once in his life---
+ believing that he will be locked away in a place where he will not be able to hurt / kill another person’s child again

OR

+25,000
+ the rest of my life with no child or their remains
+ no burial place to visit
+ no provision of dignity for my child--EVEN AT DEATH
+ the thought of leaving this earth with my child being “somewhere out there”
+ the rest of my life filled with unjust guilt for not doing enough to find my daughter
+ more money to spend on everything but trying to bring my daughter’s killer to justice
+ more money to add to my bank account
+ more money to spend on everything but learning what happened to my child…MY CHILD…The one that I brought into this world but can’t seem to see her out of this world…with dignity!

IMO, this seems a rather easy choice…I don’t care if it were a million dollars…if I had it, I would do it. I find NO fault with Beth…at all!
