Just about the time of the meeting on 5/10/10, apparently the power went out in the hotel. It is unclear to me at the moment, if the power was out when the $10,000.00 was exchanged or not. I know JQK stuck that part in and based on the fact that if the power went out, there was nothing on video, which may have left it as "not sufficient" evidence to charge him at that time.

For me, it made no sense why they didn't call in the locals to arrest Joran, but if there was no power to record it, then there is your word against my word at this point.

That vid is..(to use an overused word)..chilling. But at the same time it looks like something out of the Dumbest Criminals tv show.

Joran is a dumb criminal. He's killed twice and gotten caught. This time, he's caught on tape with the victim entering his room and never leaving, and evidently no one else entering or leaving. In Natalee's case, he lied repeatedly and was caught out, over and over, in those lies. He's been accused of trying to involve himself in human trafficking and extortion. Before he killed Natalee, we've seen reports he had a reputation for poor treatment of girls he "dated," for lack of a better word. The only reason he wasn't tried and convicted of murder as a teenager is that entities in Aruba protected him and blamed the victim and her family. If it turns out that he has killed other girls or women, they will likely turn out to be people like Natalee and Stephany, young women has has just met in a place like a casino and to whom he has no other ties. However, it's clear that he didn't learn from his experience with Natalee that casinos and other tourist sites have
video (remember, the hotel video caught him out on the lie that he and his friends had taken her back to the hotel). And he didn't learn that a highly connected citizen and his or her family has an enormous advantage in any legal system. In Aruba, the advantage went to Joran and his father; in Peru, it's Stephany the victim, who has an influential family to press for justice.

In the end, Joran's dumbest mistake was to think because he got away with murder once he could do it again.

There could have been a coffee maker with 2 cups in the room. I think that was discussed in an earlier thread.

The other room (206) that the media showed for an example of what the room size and layout was had no coffee makers in it. In fact some rooms don't even have a toilet, but oddly enough have a tub. Can't convince me some guests don't pee in the tub LOL. I wonder why the walls are tiled or have plastic like material on them, ugh, beware of hotels where "stuff" can be easily wiped off tile or plastic walls.
Our hotels in America are quite different from foreign hotels, I have learned from this case. Thankfully this hotel had the video cameras, they give us SO MUCH information for this case!
Wonder who exactly Joran is saying he will reveal info about Natalee to? Did we ever hear Anita has definately arrived or left for Peru? She should stay home, IMO, there's nothing she can do for her sporter now. I am sure she has friends in Aruba who can comfort her, she will find no such sympathies in Peru. JMO.

At some point he did get coffee because how else would he get two cups? On the video of him going to his room he did not carry the cups as far as I can tell.

He had been there for awhile, maybe he had cups in his room?

This video could explain why her body was between the wall and the bed. Joran may have moved it in case the hotel employee who opened the door looked in.

That makes perfect sense! But, I think only if he had planned on not being able to get back in the room...apparently he did not mean to get locked out or did he???? Man we need some news here,lol.

I'm thinking probably not. The video with Mark Furhman that showed another room in the same hotel showed a very small room with a bed, nighttable, tv & boombox and that was about it.

I hope, down the road, we find out the true story of what kind of upbringing Joran had. Was he spoiled by his parents, was he really"banished" to the seperate living quarters outside the family home or did his parents let him stay there so he would have more 'freedom"? Teenagers always want a private spot of their own, whats more perfect than his own little apartment on his parents property? At what age did his father permit him to be out till all hours of the night gambling? What do people he went to school with say about him? What other adventures did he have with Kalpoe bothers before Natalee? Was he a regular at Carlos n Charlies, and was his experience with GHB done many time before Natalee? Did he prey on the young women like Natalee who came to Aruba for school trips, etc?
Did he really beat his own dog to death or was that just a rumor? It fits in so well with the persona of a serial killer in-the-making, IMO. Were his parents/ family really scared of him, or was that a rumor also? I believe his younger brothers deserve privacy and to not have their lives splashed across the headlines but I can't help but wonder what they thought of their older brother, why would they choose to come to college in the US, a country that despises their brother? Did they feel he was involved in Natalees death, I wonder? Was he known to do drugs other than smoking pot, did he do coke, other drugs too?
We may never get the answers to these questions, but they are things I would sure like to know. JMO
